I don't know the answer to your question but I was watching some of the Saturday show with Jill. I am dipping my toe into the WEN waters so to speak.

I was shocked when Chaz was showing that model with the super short blonde hair and said he would put 10 pumps of mousse in her hair. My hair is chin length and I only put about 2 pumps of the mousse I'm using now in my hair.

Why so much? If he would do 10 pumps in her hair, mine would need about 15 I would think. I have a small size of the mousse that I got in a discovery kit but I've not used it yet. I did order the replenishing mist in the jasmine because it was an awesome deal but it was on waitlist.

Sorry to hijack your thread.

Thanks.

I decided to give the mousse a try this morning. It's the lavendar formula. I think I did do about 10 pumps. I was very skeptical because this mousse is very thin. The mousse I use now has a lot of body to it.

Anyhow, color me happy because my fine hair has tons of volume!! I love it.

Hi @jaxs mom!

I am not certain this is a big deal, but the MIF and BGT mousse contain the 4 tea complex and bamboo water. They are not exactly the same, but for my hair my favorite mousse is 6 13 or MIF. 😊 I have tried all of the seasonal mousse formulas that have come out. Some work better than others for me. SHP and FVWP are two great seasonal mousses in my opinion (based solely on performance)! 👍🏻

I think the classic mousses are all pretty much the same. The bamboo and MIF mousses have different ingredients. However, I did notice that the bamboo and MIF mousses do not have aminos. This makes me happy!! I just ordered the MIF mousse. I have to be careful not to use too many aminos, or my hair gets dry.

Obviously, everyone is going to get different results, but I found that they did very little for my curls, especially on days where it's humid.

I had to use a LOT of the mousse to get any definition and hold - like 15-20 pumps for my hair. (My hair is thin and touches my bra strap in the back.) The formula is liquid, like water, and it foams up when you pump, so even though I used a lot, the product didn't get used up super fast, it was just a pain to use 15 pumps. He showed Maria, who has shoulder length hair, and she had 30 pumps of mousse in her hair and usually uses 15. So be ready to use way more than you think you should. The more I used, the better it would work.

The 613 mousse did leave my hair glossier than my other styling products, but that was the only real positive experience. This morning I pulled out a Mandarin Italian Fig Mousse I got from a TSV and used it over my HG curly product, Curl Keeper. It gave me no real definition and little hold. (The Curl Keeper prevents frizz even in 90% humidity, so I'm good there!)

Give it a try, but I recommend passing on the WEN styling products and using curly-specific products.

Let us know how it works for you!

My hair is the same length as yours now.

I'm not even sure how much gel to use. My hair is medium texture and pretty thick. So far I've tried 1 quarters worth of gel and 2 quarters worth. One quarter is definitely not enough. I think two probably wasn't enough either. I'm getting good hold and wave at my roots with the larger amount but I still lack some definition on some of my length. I think it might be that I need to work on distributing it better on my ends. I've been applying it bend over with my hair hanging down and cupping it in. I was afraid to use too much though.

I can see how that could happen and I think to some extent I find it true with BGT and MIF CC too. I was going along fine with my MIF mousse and all the sudden I just knew I needed to change it up for a bit. I switched to 6 13 mousse and then gave the FVWP a try as well. I find as many times as I try different mousse formulas, I always come back to 6 13.

Of course everyone's hair can react differently to different formulas of CC, mousse, or any product so this is just my experience over the last... wow, I guess seven years this coming December!

How much I need depends on the exact gel I'm using, how much humidity is in the air, how long my hair is, and whether or not it's a Tuesday. I'm kidding about that last one, but that's how tricky I think it can be getting used to a new gel.

When I use gel, I put it on my soaking wet hair and then blot dry with a t-shirt. That helps ease some of the crunch you can get with gel. I only learned this recently, so I'll share in case you hadn't heard this yet. Gel forms a "cast" around the hair when it's drying and while it's doing that, you shouldn't touch it. I air dry, so I put it in and arrange my curls, then leave it to dry completely before I touch it again. Once it dries, I scrunch out any crunch and break the cast, which then gives me the hold without that crunch.
