My hair is pretty straight with MIF, but even straighter with BGT and PJP. SMC leaves my hair waiver/curlier, so I do get what you're talking about. 😊

Tonight I decided to change it up and pulled out a bottle of MIF. I used TT on my scalp as usual with the MIF for the 1st cleanse and straight MIF for the 2nd. I used a pump of SAM as my leave in. I have a natural wave to my hair and mostly all the Cc's (seasonal and cores) enhance the wave. Well With MIF my hair is straight. Not that I'm complaining but I'm amazed what a different result I get with the rice based. Does this happen to anyone else?

SAM does make mine straighter and less manageable. I have found I need more leave in anymore to really enhance the waves

I'm not sure that it's actually the rice formula. I've never used MIF but I don't get straight hair from the Wen kids which is also rice based. But it may be an individual thing.

Curls need moisture. Mine do best with Fig and Bamboo Green Tea leaves them a hot mess of frizzy dryness. Mandarin Italian Fig is better than BGT, but I can't use it twice in a week and didn't repurchase. I generally stick to Fig and supplement with seasonals and Tea Tree for variety.

NewHue, my hair is so stick/board/uncooked spaghetti straight that no WEN formula changes it, although if I found one that gave me curls I'd buy gallons of it, lol! My best guess is that the MIF has more moisture than your hair really wanted, at least on that day. When I've been heat styling (you know, that vain attempt we all make to change our hair from what we have to what we want) then I can use Fig, MIF and SHP and my hair loves it and drinks it up, but when I've been going natural for a while, those same formulas tend to leave my hair limp and lanky. So you may want to save MIF for when you've been doing things that dry your hair out a bit, like swimming in chlorinated pools or heat styling, and use other formulas for when you go au naturel.
