Request: High Moisture Kids CC please!

I've been asking for this since the kids line came out. Even though the current kids CCs work great for me, there are occasions where I wish we had a higher moisture choice in the kids line. And SB is not higher moisture in my hair. The current kids CC all work the same for me performance wise. I use them all.

The same thought has occurred to me, although for my little girl's thick wavy hair. I considered using the Fig as a leave in, but haven't got around to buying it yet.

I used to have to use Fig. It's not menthol free and it smells like cherry cough syrup ( horrible). I still use it when happen to have a bottle and I need high moisture like after coloring but I'd rather have one from the kids line.

I'm really luck because almost all of the CCs -- yup, I'm the Wen girl with 22 different open 1oz CC bottles -- but I really feel for Wenners who can only use the Wen Kids CCs because these are the only CCs that don't have menthol in them.

I really hope that Chaz creates one adult CC without menthol in it just to see how it would sell. -- I'll bet it sells really well.

@jaxs mom, lol I've always struggled to describe the FIG scent. You're absolutely right! It does smell like cherry cough syrup. Ugg!

I read it here first, before I even used Wen and they were right. Cherry cough syrup. I think it would smell great if it just didn't have menthol. I think it's the menthol that gives it that medicinal smell.

Even if Chaz creates one adult CC without menthol - this still won't solve the problem for all. There will be instantly requests from others, to make menthol free CC, but with a different protein base...... requests for different scents preferences.... and so on.

This means, he'll have to come up with about 22 of them! Which brings another question - why not? Does anyone know, what good menthol is actually doing in CCs composition? Does it serve have a purpose being in WEN cleanser? If it does, what is it?

Really? Is it via stimulation? I don't know anything about cosmetic chemistry, but I know - I do not like menthol. Good thing, I can tolerate it, unlike some other poor Wenners, who limited down to WK CCs only. I guess, if I'd have menthol intolerance not just a plain dislike, and occasional tingling, I'd too still use WEN in the form of Kiddy's CC.

Menthol is why I almost never use WEN CC on my face - I can feel it there, and it's not a product I want on my face. But occasionally I cleanse the face with CC.... well, I like WEN.

@sonechko yes, I don't use Wen on my face either. I've tried it though. My skin is really sensitive and prone eczema if it doesn't like something. So I have to be careful.

Hi JaxsMom. ITA, the scent of the Fig CC is absolutely my least favorite of his CCs. However, having said that, it's the one I started with and has excellent moisturizing properties for my very dry scalp and hair. I would go so far as to say that it truly rescued my hair. It doesn't smell like cough syrup to me but just an overly musky/woodsy scent. It really is my best suggestion for hair that needs that extra boost of moisture. When I use it I only use it for the first cleanse then follow up with tea tree, bamboo green tea or especially 613, or even do a mix of the fig with one of those scents. Also, if you can, try a different formula/scent in the Replenishing Treatment Mist as I do, that will work very well.

Hope this helps and hopefully Chaz will consider modifying the scent of fig.

I used Fig as my second cleanse the first couple years of using Wen. Like I said, I don't need that level of moisture anymore on a regular basis. And I will use it if I need it. But i'd much rather a better choice that is menthol free. I can't use 613 or BGT except very occasionally.

Menthol is possibly there to stimulate blood flow to the scalp. Whether that helps with hair growth or not, I don't know. Definitely can be irritating for some, although I don't subscribe to the idea that all essential oils are bad. There's a guy named Robert Tisserand who is an expert in essential oils. I think his family has been in the oil business forever. Anyway he has some interesting info and books.

I do know that some citrus oils can react with sunlight though, so it's best to be careful with them.

I have the Fig oil and BCC and I actually like both, but I've never smelled the CC.

Probably you right @RipleyGirl, there are people, who could be allergic to any ingredient, menthol, or maybe another, and I should nor complain about this - WEN does excellent job for my hair just as it's formulated. But I still try to avoid using it on my face, I feel very slight irritation, so just in case.

To those asking what menthol is for, as a stylist (and one with sensitivities ) I have some knowledge there.

Yes, menthol is good for growth because it stimulates the circulation in the scalp. Any minty ingredients will do so. Think of like this.....when you use Vicks Vaporub, it stimulates circulation and opens the sinuses. There's menthol in Vicks too. It's the same with your scalp....menthol stimulates circulation to fuel the growth of the follicles and also opens pores. That doesn't mean it works for everyone, and anyone can be sensitive to any ingredient. I'm lucky in that menthol is not an ingredient I'm sensitive to, but trust me, there are many other ingredients that I am sensitive to which makes it difficult for me to find things that work.

Fwiw, that's also why tea tree is good for growth, but it's also a minty relative. Btw, Chaz is not alone in putting menthol in his products, many hair care lines do as well.

I would LOVE this! I don't like to use menthol on my skin or scalp because it isn't good for your skin or scalp and I don't like that tingling sensation but the kids just aren't moisturizing enough.

I would LOVE to see a kids CC with honey and not too sweet smelling like some of the current ones. If he made one, I'd actually use it on my scalp since currently I don't use WEN on my scalp.

I too think it is the menthol that gives it that cherry cough syrup scent. I actually really like most fig scents I've smelled but not so much the fig cc. I think it would smell great if it didn't have the cc.
