It's also a great way for first time Wenners to try out the Core line of Wen Cleansing Conditioners (CC). -- Personally, I think this is a better way for new Wenners to test out the Wen Cleansing Conditioners. This way they get to try each of the Core Cleansing Conditioners without being locked into a gallon of one individual Cleansing Conditioner scent.

I just updated my initial post because I did a cost breakdown on this kit and the price is better than for a Wen Gallon.

This is a great place for new Wenners to begin!!! I don't think I've ever seen a better price on the Core Cleansing Conditioners.

Regularly they would run you $62 plus $6 shipping. With the OTO you are saving $25.96 plus $3.00 S&H. -- This OTO is 32oz of CC, so four OTOs would equal a gallon of Wen.

With 4 S&H charges your total cost is $156.96, which is still less than the cost of one Core gallon of Wen which would be $177 plus $3 (S&H).

Careful with your math! Remember that a gallon is 128 oz, which would be:
8 - 16 oz..... 8 X 36.24= $289.92
or 4 - 32. oz bottles. So a gallon is still a better deal.

Thank you for noting this because, if I had gotten my calculations wrong, then I would have felt terrible. *s* -- That said, I just reviewed what I wrote, and I did the cost analysis correctly. In my earlier post, I wrote:

From your calculations, I think you thought that the entire OTO (16oz SAM plus (8) 2oz travel packets is 16oz of product, when it's actually 32oz of Cleansing Conditioner.

So four (4) separate 32oz Cleansing Conditioner OTOs would equal one gallon (128oz) of Cleansing Conditioner.

So it really is a great value. -- Thanks though for checking my numbers, it's always appreciated, because I'd never want to steer anyone the wrong way.

Handbell Clunk, lol, and whew!!! You had me worried for a minute there. I always check my calculations 2-3 times before I post something becuase I'm always so worried that I might inadvertently share inaccurate info... so I'm glad that you're rechecking my calculations.

Also, I think I figured out where you hit the snag. I had originally title the thread:

Ever since QVC changed the forum structure around, it's not possible to read the full title header unless it's really short. I just don't get this: d they think this is Twitter?? -- So I've been trying to keep the header titles as short as possible so that the entire header can be read... and so people will know what the post is about.

Of course, since I'm a long time Wenner, I know that the travel packs are 16oz of Cleansing Conditioner... so I edited my header without even thinking that not everyone knows that. lol, going forward, I'm going to try to be clearer. I've alo, changed my header to read:

I think it's best to compare like to like....the OTO had a 16oz SAM and a mix of CC travel packs....with a gallon you only get one scent. For those that can use all of the scents in the OTO it's a great value!

I started using Wen in November and bought the gallons for the first time the following June. A year later I still hadn't finished, but was thinking of getting more. A poster here did a cost breakdown and told us that it wasn't necessarily less expensive to buy the gallons, so I figured it out for my own needs. She was right!

I bought the OTO today. DS has just started using SAM, after complaining about the condition of his hair, and he likes it! I will use the packets for traveling, and I still haven't tried Tea Tree. Must do that sometime! Right now I'm loving CLV!

beach-mom, lol, that poster may well have been me because I've done several cost breakdowns of Wen gallon prices versus other Wen configurations (i.e. TSVs and special offers).

If someone specifically wants one single formula, then a Wen gallon may well be the best bargain for them. Otherwise, other configurations may offer better values.

Below is a modification of a cost comparison that is in the Wen Wen TSVs going back to December 2009 - items in TSV kits and prices thread (at the end of message #2). -- Some of the information is inaccurate now because I haven't updated it since last August, and Chaz has changed the Fall and Spring configurations (so I've left those two TSVs out).

I haven't redone the calculations so the S&H charges are going to be somewhat off, but I think it's still fairly accurate -- I've increased the S&H charge of today's OTO to $6, so as to create a more balanced S&H cost comparison since the S&H charges have gone down since last year.

Once again, the annual December (5) 16oz bottle TSV for $80 is the clear, runaway winner for value. And that's where I spend most of my money for my Wen Cleansing Conditioners. -- While there's no guarentee that Chaz will offer another 5-bottle CC configuration this December, that's what the December Wen configuration has been for a number of years. -- bebe

Yesterday's, WEN by Chaz Dean 16oz. Cleansing Conditioner w/ Travel Packs (A267437) OTO is still available at a slightly higher feature price of $44 and is still a good value. Right now -- using an ounce for ounce cost comparison -- it runs about the same price at one of the Core Wen Gallons.

FYI, the six Core Cleansing Conditioner (CC) scents were the first line of CCs that Chaz created. SAM, TT, FIG, LAV, and CA are all wheat based, while POM is soy based. -- In contrast the SixThirteen (613) and Seasonals CCs are both soy-based, have the amino acid complex and extra skin care ingredients added in. The Restorative CCs (BGT & MIF) are rice-based, have bamboo water as a major ingredient, have the amino acid complex and extra skin care ingredients added in.

Below is the updated information about yesterday's OTO which is now being offered at a feature price.

I decided to purchase this yesterday since it was such a great value. I will save the travel packets to use for the occasional weekend trip that I will take during the next few months. Since I can use most of the core formulas this was a great kit for me. The only formula that I probably won't use is the lavender since I don't care for the scent and it is very drying.
