Why use 613?

The question was asked why use 613 and how others were doing it. I looked at a couple of our 613 threads but they didn't seem to express any particular difference we've noticed in our hair since incorporating it.

So how often do you use 613? Do you use it straight or as a mixer? Did you ever not use it? What's the difference?

I never ordered 613 until a good year after starting WEN. I was so happy with the changes in my hair, I felt I didn't need much else. I heard Chaz say that you could use it in place of Remoist and I was sometimes pressed for time, so I ordered it. I used it sporadically for about a year. I understood more about the protein and conditioning, but I was so crazy for the other formulas I didn't use it much.

After skipping it for a summer and over moisturizing, I used it for every second cleanse for about 9 weeks to get my hair back. During that time, I realized what a difference it made to styling, strength and keeping my ends in good condition. I now keep 613 in my rotation for both cleanses at least twice a month. I also put 613 on my roots before Remoist about once a week. Plus occasionally, I will just use it as Remoist after another CC. I think it difference is stronger, shinier hair with fewer split ends.

For my hair I like to mix 613 with other CC's for my second cleanse. It makes my fine hair look and feel heavier and fuller without weighing it down. And I use 613 on it's own from time to time.

I also like to use my 613 as both body wash and moisture cream particularly in the more extreme summer and winter weather. Also love and use the 319 and 613 NBT but 613 CC also works well for my skin.

I don't use 613 often. I find the seasonals give my hair the treatment it needs. However, when I do use it, I use it as a second cleanse or for both cleanses.

I have been using it with my 2nd cleanse. 9 pumps of the seasonal du jour plus 4 pumps of 613. I really don't notice a big difference but I know that I can't use 613 straight or as a leave in because it makes my hair too stiff. I am using up what I have and then I will just stick to the seasonals, wen men and throw in BGT and MIF on occasion.

I tried 613 shortly after I had started using Wen. My hair was fairly damaged so when Chaz mentioned that it was more treatment based I figured I would give it a try. That and if I didn't have time for a re-moist treatment I could use it for that as well. At first I could use it pretty often but at this point my hair is not a fan of all that protein. I use it maybe once a month and I don't mix it with anything else. I wouldn't say I see any real difference when I use it. The only thing I can tell is when I've used it too much as my ends start to break and get extremely dry.

I'm new to 613 and have been using it for a little over a month. So have experimented a lot. Have cleansed with it several times & it makes my hair too soft. Cleansing only: think I'll only use it if my hair is dried out for some reason or after highlights. The biggest benefit is replacing my remoist with 613 & using it as a mask. My hair is bouncier and "cleaner" after using it as a mask. Use it as a mask once every 2 weeks. 613 is hands down my favorite scent of all the scents so use this as my leave in. It has become my favorite leave-in and it doesn't weigh down my hair like the seasonals. 613 has become my goto leave-in. Figure if I mostly use it as a mask and leave in, a bottle will last longer than a year.

I think I started with 613 and then added Tea Tree since I take my WEN to the hair salon I and my stylist notice the difference together like the perfect match. I had stopped using 613 for a minute but noticed how important it was when used with the Tea Tree. So now I make sure I use both it just takes a good thing and makes it that much better.

Hi there:

I use 613 and it's wonderful. What's really amazing is the 613 body treatment lotion in the jar that you put on your body. Of course, you can use the cleansing conditioner on body too but the other is a lotion. Anyway, my skin is so soft it's like being wrapped in velvet all the time, even after I've showered and have not applied any yet. The softness stays. I use it every day after my shower. I've never tried anything like it, really.

I wasn't using 613 very often but found that if I add a small amount to my second cleanse that it works great that way. I used to use just 613 for my 2nd cleanse and found that I couldn't do this very often. I always use a core for my 1st cleanse and never tried using 613 for both cleanses but would imagine that if I tried this I would only be able to use this method once a month or less.

I can't say that I am a fan of 613. It actually makes my hair feel dry and brittle. I use it occasionally now about every three weeks, because I am trying to use up two bottles that I purchased over a year ago. Once finished I will not be repurchasing.

I do have an interesting experiment in a few days. I have been natural for the last few years and as mentioned above 613 does not agree with my hair. I have grown weary of the natural journey and will be having my hair relaxed again. I am interested to know if my relaxed hair will react differently to 613.

I'm not a huge fan of the 613. However, to offset the cost of buying Wen, I stopped going to the salon for color and just do the color at home. I don't use the conditioner that comes in the color box, but instead use 613. At this point, it will last me a really long time using it this way, but I'm going to play around with it and see how it works for me best, see if it's something that I can like over time.

613 has a special place in my heart.

I'm a Restoratives, Seasonals and 613 Wen girl... which basically means that I'd appreciate Chaz's 11 amino acid complex in an IV drip if possible... because my hair can use all the help it can get.

I have very fragile baby fine hair that is also very porous. I know that everyone wishes that natural hair structure were better -- so thank goodness for Wen -- but I really lost the genetic hair pool. lol, so thank goodness for Wen.

When I began using Wen Chaz had just introduced the sixth and final formula to his Classic Line (the soy-based Pomegranate CC). Tea Tree (TT) was my "go to" CC, and I cold also use Cucumber Aloe (CA) and Pomegranate (POM). TT worked well for my hair and life was good. And then Chaz introduced the soy-based "Wen on steroids" 613, and everything changed...

With the added 11 amino acid complex and the skin care ingredients, very quickly, I started to see improvements. My hair got stronger and shinier.

At that point, there were no 613 CC specials and it wasn't included in any of the TSVs. So since 613 CC was relatively expensive I'd use TT for my first cleanse and 613 for my second cleanse. -- Then Chaz started his soy-based Seasonals line, and I was head over heels about all of them as well...

The Seasonals also had the 11 amino acid complex as well as the skin care ingredients (although 613 CC has a more intensive version of them). -- So 613 CC became my first cleanse (which I would leave on my hair for 3 minutes) and the Seasonal of the Moment (which I would also leave on my hair for 3 minutes) became my second cleanse. -- And then Chaz introduced the rice-based, bamboo water infused, Restorative line which included: Bamboo Green Tea (BGT), Mandarin Italian Fig (MIF), and the new Fragrance Free (FF)... and I was head over heels in love, yet again...

In addition to the 11 amino acid complex and the skin care ingredients, the Restorative line also included bamboo water in it. I was surprised to find that the bamboo water in the Restorative CCs seemed to give my hair additional strength... more than even 613 CC. -- Bamboo Green Tea (BGT) quickly became my favorite CC, but was supplanted by Mandarin Italian Fig (MIF) this year because MIF also gave my hair the most moisture of any of the CCs (note: I can't use FIG because it weighs down my hair).

So, once again, I changed up my hair care routine... and this remains my current hair care routine:

* first cleanse -- Mandarin Italian FIg (MIF)

* second cleanse -- Seasonal of the Moment, or Bamboo Green Tea (BGT)

* leave in (Amino Acid City... since it is a leave in) -- 613 CC, any styling creme (to use them up), and 613 Moussie (plus some additional moussie from my 613/BGT/SAM moussie trio)

______

613 CLEANSING CONDITIONER & ME

___

613 Cleansing Conditioner Emergency Hair Repair

If I don't keep up with regular overnight Wen Treatment Oil scalp treatments and Wen overnight Remoist (or Treatment Oil) overnight hair treatments, well my hair stops looking it's very best. -- Also, sometimes the summer sun and/or the ocean water can take it's toll on my hair.

As good as the Restorative CCs (BGT, MIF & FF) are, the 613 CC gives my hair the best and fastest emergency fix.

Of course, then I need to get back to my regular overnight Wen hair care treatments.

___

613 Cleansing Conditioner Overnight Hair Treatment

About once a month, I'll use 613 CC as an overnight hair mask. My hair is happy to get this occasional intensive amino acid fix. I don't do it any more often that this, because this once a month treatment seems to give my hair it's best results.

___

3-Day Weekend Experiment with a 613 Cleansing Conditioner Hair Treatment

Last year, in the summer, I left 613 CC in my hair for a 3-day weekend. Honestly, I was just curious to see what would happen... but I definitely DO NOT recommend this experiment for everyone... especially if you have either healthy or thick/coarse hair.

I've mentioned before that I have very porous, baby fine hair which needs all the help it can get. I just had a feeling that there was no way that my particular hair could overdose on Chaz's 613 amino acid CC, and so I wanted to check my hunch out.

So for three days, I kept adding more 613 CC to my hair every 3-4 hours. About a day and a half in, it got a bit a bit tedious but I managed to push through it.

What I found interesting was that, while my hair definitely looked better after the 3-day experiment... it didn't look any better than it did after my monthly overnight 613 CC hair mask treatment. -- So, unfortunately for me, this meant that there was only so much that 613 CC could do for my hair: there was an upper threshold/limit to my hair improvement.

MY NOTE OF CAUTION...

This all could have turned out differently (and badly)... because too much protein can make your hair get brittle and break. -- This is much more likely to happen to those who have healthy hair or thick/coarse hair... and less likely to those who have baby fine hair... but these are just general statements.

Before I started my experiment, I realized that doing this might make my hair get brittle and break. That was a chance I was willing to take because I really wanted to get a sense as to just how protein deficient my hair was... and I was right, I really lost the genetic hair lottery... so no harm came to my hair because it is soooo very protein deficient.

But it still all could have gone terribly wrong...

___

Chaz's Challenge -- Use 613 Cleansing Conditioner Exclusively for 3 Months and See What Kind of Difference It Makes for Your Hair

I took Chaz's challenge in Fall 2015 and only used 613 products on my hair for three months.

Once again, my hair hit a 613 glass ceiling. Unfortunately, there is only so much that 613 CC can do for my hair. -- I also found out that my hair really missed the bamboo water that is so concentrated in the Restorative line (Mandarin Italian Fig, Bamboo Green Tea and the new Fragrance Free CC).

That's why I use MIF for my first cleanse, the Seasonal of the Moment (or BGT) for my second cleanse and 613 CC & moussie for my leave in.

If I wanted to give my hair it's best results, it might be better if I used MIF for both my first and second cleanse. -- I don't do that simply because I get so much enjoyment out of using the Seasonal of the Moment (or Bamboo Green Tea) for my second cleanse. I just enjoy these varied aromatherapy spa-like experiences too much to be limited to MIF all the time.

I also think that it probably helped my hair and scalp to be continually changing up my hair care routine. This way they never get used to anything which I've read Is actually a good thing to do.

___

613 Cleansing Conditioner and 613 Mousse for My Leave In

Even though I also use other Wen amino acid CCs, I want to make sure my hair always gets a good dose of Chaz's 11 amino acid complex.

I think the best way to do this is make the 613 line the center of my leave in treatment because these products are going to stay in my hair (as opposed to being washed out of them).

The only reason that I don't use the 613 styling creme all the time is that I have a lot of other styling cremes (from various TSVs) that I'm trying to use up... lol, good luck with that.

___

613 Cleansing Conditioner for Facial Care, Body Lotion or Body Wash

I occasionally will use 613 CC as a facial cleanser.

I sometimes use 613 CC as a body wash. It seems to work well, but I generally use soap.

I sometimes use 613 CC (or another Wen CC) as body lotion. -- That said, since I started using the Wen Treatment Oils on my body last month, they have become my "go to" body treatment.

Some Wenners use 613 Cleansing Conditioner for Facial Care, Body Lotion or Body Wash on a regular basis.

___

My Take Aways About 613 Cleansing Conditioner...

613 CC is generally great for baby fine hair.

If you have either very healthy hair, or thick/coarse hair, then try incorporating 613 CC into your hair care routine more slowly and pay attention to it works on your hair. -- If you hair starts to get more brittle (or straw-like) then pull back on using 613 CC, or maybe even just stop using it for your hair.

If you have baby fine hair, give 613 cleansing conditioner a try as:

* a regular part of your hair care treatment

* a part of your hair care leave in

* emergency hair repair

* an overnight hair treatment mask

That said, you may not know what your hair's amino acid limit is until you bump up against it... so it's a good idea to always be aware of this when you are using the 613, Seasonals, Restoratives, or Wen Men cleansing conditioners.

Enjoy!!!

-- bebe, a Wen Restoratives, Seasonals & 613 girl

@bebe777 wrote:

And then Chaz introduced the soy-based "Wen on steriods" 613, and everything changed...

-- Bamboo Green Tea (BGT) quickly became my favorite CC, but was supplanted by Mandarin Italian Fig (MIF) this year because MIF also gaive my hair the most moisture of any of the CCs (note: I can't use FIG because it weighs down my hair).

It seems to work well, but I generally use soap.

I sometimes use 613 CC (or another Wen CC) as body lotion. -- That said, since I started using the Wen Treatment Oils on my body last month, they have become my "go to" body treatment.

Some Wenners use 613 Cleansing Contidioner for Facial Care, Body Lotion or Body Wash on a regular basis.

* emergency hair repair

* an overnight hair treatment mask

That said, you may not know what your hair's amino acid limit is until you bump up against it... so it's a good idea to always be aware fo this when you are using the 613, Seasonals, Restoratives, or Wen Men cleansing conditioners.

Enjoy!!!

-- bebe, a Wen Restoratives, Seasonals & 613 girl

Wow I learned alot...and I have never used the MIF as a first cleanse...Will try that also.....We both have baby fine hair so I always enjoy how products work for you...

I really Thank You for sharing your routines and experiences in depth! This for me was very interesting and educational read. I will read it again. I will definitely employ your approach and will give 613 a really good try, at the same time watching the results it produces on my hair like a hawk!

I've always paid attention to when you'd describe/reveal your Wen practices/routines, but this one was even more, and I feel like I would like to follow some of your your practicies.

But I have one problem doing just that - it's the core CCs I have. Obviously the cores are out of your routine now. Bebe, you do not use them any longer? And if so, then why? Do you think, there is not enough nutrients in them for your hair?

For me, having Restorative, Seasonal and Core CCs on hand, and basically loving them all, it's kind of hard to adhere to any kind of a routine. But, I'll have to definitely give 613 a good run for my money and for all it's worth!

I use 613 sometimes, but not regularly. Too much protein. The restoratives and seasonal lines are perfection. I use 613 alone or mixed after color or after heat styling.

Bebe, you do not use them any longer? And if so, then why? Do you think, there is not enough nutrients in them for your hair?

Over time, I stopped using the Classic (Core) CCs because I got better results with the Restoratives, 613 and the Seasonals.

You have to remember that I have very fragile, porous, baby fine hair that is easily damaged. Wen has been great for my hair, but even Wen can only do just so much. -- So I really need to maximize what Wen can do for my hair in order to achieve consistently my best hair results.

The Restoratives, 613 and the Seasonals also have the added skin care ingredients in them, which is an added bonus, but my main interest is in the amino acid complex that they all contain. -- The Restoratives also have the highest levels of bamboo water which also strengthens my hair.

I can use Tea Tree (TT), Cucumber Aloe (CA) and Pomegranate (POM) in the Classic line but -- because they don't have the 11 amino acid complex in them (or the bamboo water) -- they won't give my hair a consistent protein boost that it needs on a regular basis. I sometimes purchase kits which have these formulas in them, and then I'll add them into my routine... but I won't use these formulas on a regular basis.

The three Classic formulas that don't work well for my hair are: Lavender (LAV), Fig (FIG), and Sweet Almond Mint (SAM). FIG and SAM seem to have a higher glycerin content which actually leaks out of my porous, baby fine hair. LAV alternatively either flattens out my hair or makes it frizzy.

Other than these three formulas, I've been able to use every other Wen CC that I've tried. -- The only CCs I still haven't tried are Wen Men, as well as Apple (WKA) and Strawberry-Banana (WKSB) from the Kids CC line. I have tried the Wen Kids Watermelon (WKW) and that works fine for my hair. -- I wouldn't purchase the Kids CCs again though because they don't have the 11 amino acid complex in them and I'm also not a fan of the Jolly Rancher kids scents.

@You also wrote: this morning in my hot bath tub, I put 613 on my hair (after POM oil treatment which I love by-the-way), and counted to 500 hundred before washing it off. Just Super. I will carefully watch it, Bebe, so I won't overuse 6`13 to the point when it will become counter-productive.

sonechko, I think that's a great way to use 613 CC!!

I had mentioned that I use 613 CC as an overnight hair mask once a month and it gives me great results. I would use it more as an overnight mask, but the results for my hair seem to max out at one use per month.

So I think that leaving 613 CC on your hair for a while in the morning before you cleanse your hair will help the amino acids penetrate your hair and allow the additional skin care ingredients time on your scalp's skin.

I also like your idea of washing the Wen CC out of your hair while you are in the tub so that the rest of your skin can take advantage of these skin care ingredients. -- lol, after I finish cleansing my hair in the shower, I take the excess CC that is on my hair and I massage it onto my body... to take advantage of the skin care ingredients as well.

It's because I tend to be so outspoken about how much I like the amino acid CCs, that I always try to balance this with a cautionary not about the amino acid complex.

When the 613 CC first became available it was really popular... except wen it wasn't. Unfortunately, 613 CC was drying for some Wenners hair. Some people even mentioned that their hair felt a bit like straw if they used it to frequently. -- Over maybe a six month period, people slowly figured out that 613 CC wasn't the holy grail for everyone. Some folks really couldn't use it at all, while others could only use it in moderation.

The general rule seemed to be that 613 CC worked well, on a regular basis, for people who had baby fine hair. But if you had either healthy hair, or coarse/fine hair, then you needed to pay attention to how 613 CC was working on your hair and modify how often your were using it accordingly.

My cautions aren't meant to make folks afraid of using 613 CC... only that they need to be mindful of how often they are using it.

I think Chaz's 613 CC is a great option but, like most things in the wenderful world of Wen, everyone needs to tailor the 613 CC to their own hair care needs.

-- bebe

I cleanse every other day. I use 4 pumps from a 32 oz bottle of 6/13 as part of my second cleanse, every time. My baby fine, thin, limp hair has become full, wavy, and thicker, thanks to WEN. I feel 6/13 makes my hair "plumper".

I have been using TT (for 2 yrs) as my first cleanse, it's the only core CC I have, but I feel I may becoming sensitive to the mint (I'm getting dermititus on my scalp, aka flakes, all of the sudden, never had this problem before). So I'm now using something from the restorative line as a first cleanse, then 4 pumps of 6/13 mixed with 7 pumps from a 32 oz seasonal. Again, I feel adding 6/13 into my second cleanse makes my hair fuller and "plumper".

I didn't find cleansing solely with 6/13 was beneficial to my hair. Nor using 6/13 solely as a second cleanse. I do notice my hair is less plump if I don't use it

I always cleanse my face with 6/13 in the shower. Sometimes I'll cleanse my face with 6/13 before bed. When I do, I feel 6/13 helps to "plump" some of the wrinkles around my eyes. I throughly enjoy using 6/13 CC.

Recently, I started using 6/13 RTM, it came with a kit. I have A LOT of various RTM. I have to say, 6/13 RTM is my favorite RTM! My hair is more hydrated and curlier or waiver when I use the 6/13 RTM. I also use it on my face and body. I really like the results.

I cant be without 6/13 NBT. Its AMAZING! Chaz's clinical are true! My skin is soft, hydrated, velvety smooth. I use it on my face several times a day and on my body post shower. I need to buy this by the case, it's the BEST body lotion I've ever used!

I went back and read some older threads on dry ends...I realized I am using all 613 styling products, (which I love) but since it's super dry here and the inside heat is flaming, I am going to need tons of moisture this winter...SO even tho I have super baby fine hair, I pullled out the FIG (core) yep it is fixing the ends just fine...

So switching all my lineup to FIG for the winter and see if that continue's to help...(so glad I had gotten the TSV back when it had the 32oz and styling products...
