Just got the mousse in fig looking for any helpful tips on how to use on natural as hair.

I use the 613 Mousse and I love it. I have not a lot of baby fine hair and it is first product I've ever used that has given my hair sustained, much needed body. I think you made an excellent purchase!!!

I think you'll get a number of different answers as to how to use the mousse, but here's how I use it.

I have not a lot of baby fine hair that is a few inches below my shoulders.

After I've cleansed my hair -- and while I'm still in the shower -- I add 1/2 pump CC (from a 16oz bottle) to my hair from the base of my neck to the ends of my hair. I add the CC to my hair and then I twist my hair and squeeze the CC into my hair.

Then I wash the excess CC off my hands.

Then I add 3 pumps of styling creme (SC) to my hair from the base of my neck to the ends of my hair. I add the SC to my hair and then I twist my hair and squeeze the SC into my hair. Then with the palms of my hairs I put some of the SC on the tops of my hands. Then I rake the SC into the top part of my hair (like a comb). -- Chaz says not to flat palm the SC into the top part of the hair. -- The reason I use 3 pumps of SC is because I air dry my hair and Chaz suggests using more SC if you air dry your hair.

Once again, I wash any remaining SC off of my hands.

This next step is, more or less, how Chaz would add in the Mousse...

For my hair length, pump out six pumps of Mousse. I have wavy hair so I scrunch the Mousse into my hair from the crown to the ends.

Basically, these three steps are done while you are still in the shower with soaking wet hair.

For me, I've found that the Mousse works best if I lightly squeeze the excess water out of my hair with an old 100% cotton T-shirt (so as not to rough up the cuticle) and them apply the Mousse to the length of my hair using the scrunch method (for wavy hair).

Then I either air dry my hair or dry it in front of my portable fan.

Hi @zeldah! @bebe777 is made of magic, so everything she is saying absolutely works! I also use it when I blow dry my hair. I have hair that is now about an inch (maybe two?) over my shoulders, and I have a longer neck. I put 4-6 pumps from midskull down and then 2-3 pumps in the crown and bangs. I sometimes add a little more and it is fine. This is after 2sih pumps of SC.

I will tell you that I had to go on a journey with the mousse. When I first tried it somehow it didn't quite take for me. I had to figure out the pumps and add more than I expected (although it still lasts and lasts). Give yourself a few tries with it!

I posted this on another tread, but after yesterday's show and Chaz comments about how much mousse to use, I am going to try more. I am using 10 now, but got the impression that you can use a lot more and good results. I think he said he would use 10 on Amanda's hair. My curls aren't as tight as Roseanne but my hair is longer. I didn't hear how much he used on her. I think I am going to mix up some 613 and FTP mousse and go for it with 20 LOL

I'm still experimenting with the amount of mousse myself. Obviously the Wen mousse is still nothing like regular mousse but I've still been afraid of adding too much. I've been careful so far and only used 3-4 pumps but I guess I can use much more than that so maybe I should just give it a try and see what happens!

Hi all! I use the POM mousse and was wondering if there is a difference in the formulas, especially now that TT and Fig are offered. Do they all work basically the same - is the difference just the scent? Thanks!!

@Arianny, the POM mousse is a bit of a mystery to me because, based on the info from the Wen 101 thread, it's not clear as to whether or not the POM mousse is nut-free or not. Here's what I have on the various POM products:

* for those with nut allergies - product lines - best choices (per Chaz Dean's Salon on 3/25/14) -- some POM products: SC, GS, & Re-Moist are nut-free. -- Sweet almond oil (nut-based) is in the POM CC, RTM, BCC, & BL. -- Sweet almond fruit (nut-based?) is in the mousse and finishing creme. --

I wish there was a chart on Chaz's site that listed all the particular issues (i.e. wheat free, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, etc.) for each of the products but, to my knowledge, that doesn't exist.

Other than that, I think that all of the other Classic Mousses -- Sweet Almond Mint (SAM), Tea Tree (TT), Fig (FIG), and Lavender (LAV) are basically the same except for minor differences in the essential oils used for their scents. -- FYI, there isn't a Cucumber Aloe (CA) Mousse.

Hi @Arianny I have several different mousses, MIF, CLV, 613, SHP, SHL, POM, & FTP

I will use the FTP tomorrow for the first time. They mostly perform pretty similar for me with very subtle differences. I would say POM & SHL are my least favorite, and 613, MIF, & CLV are my most favorite.

I had to experiment some to find the best way to use it for me, and now I use it with every cleanse. But it doesn't work for me on dry hair.

Thanks @FleaMktQn. I have always used the POM, but I decided to order the Tea Tree to see how that works. I love the mousse. I use it every time I cleanse, and I also use it on my dry hair for re-styling. It does wonders for my curls.

I only have a couple of formulas in the mousse and they will last me a while since I don't use the mousse very often. Prior to Wen I didn't use mousse very often either.

Okay, I took the plunge.....20 pumps of mousse on my short, fine/thin hair! WOW!!!!! What a difference! I have absolutely NO body in my hair and refuse to get permanents. But what 20 pumps of mousse did for my hair is, as Chaz would say, INSANE! I have so much body and fullness! My hair not only feels fuller/thicker, it looks it!

I am so sorry I was late to the party on this product. But now that I know, I'm definitely going to get some more. Am thinking of the 613 mousse. Like all other 613 products, is this one even more incredible than the core mousse?

See! More works! I asked Chaz on Periscope how many should I use on my natural hair, my hair is longer than Alicia's but just as thick. He said between 30-50 depending on length and thickness. Chaz uses almost 20 himself but remember he has no sides (shaven).

I wonder, how long the bottle will last with this amount used? Hmmm.... Well, who cares! As long as it works it's miracle, it is well worth it. After all - the result is all this is about!

I do have another suggestion for you, to maybe experiment with adding a little of Hair Re-Moist mask as a leave-in. It does create the effect that you are talking about - more volume, more body in a way of feel and look of my hair.

Additionally, re-moist is so good for the hair, "feeding" and moisturizing it, while you are having a "good hair day"!

Yes, I read that somewhere else and definitely want to try that! Thanks for reminding me of that.

As to how long the bottle will last, I wondered that too and am placing an order for an additional bottle. Wasn't sure which one to get. I have lavender now, but am thinking of 316, unless that would be way too much volume! ha! The 316 formula seems to be an old souped-up GTO car!
