Which CC to get?

I can only purchase one gallon. I currently use TT & POM. I do color my hair. My hair can get oily at the roots & dry on the ends.

If you definitely like one more than the other than you should purchase that formula. I still haven't purchased a gallon yet and probably never will since I like using a variety of different formulas. If you are undecided than maybe you shouldn't purchase a gallon. Have you tried some of the other core formulas yet? Did you just starting using Wen or already know that only TT and POM work for your hair? I have been using Wen for a little over two years and have tried most but not all of the core and seasonal formulas.

Right now both TT and POM are available in the Sept TSV, A269882. If you use any of the other products (styling creme, treatment oil, treatment mist) in addition to the CC, then this is still an excellent deal at $79. If you hurry, you might be able to get one of each.

Based on this information, I would not recommend a gallon. If you haven't tried Bamboo Green Tea, Mandarin Italian Fig, or 613, you should try each one in the 16 or 32-oz size before investing in a gallon. If you find out you don't like the formula you get, you have to ship it up or eat the cost.

I say find the formula that works best for you, sit with it for a while, then get a gallon of that. If you don't know which one you should get, you don't have enough information to buy a gallon. They will be back next year - get one then once you've decided which one you love most.

I used Fig for a nearly a year before I decided I was ready for a gallon.

I think OP is asking about which one of the three gallon choices to get?

If I understood this correct, then my recommendation would be MIF gallon.

Because BGT likely is not going to do a great job on your dry ends, unless mixed with something.

613 as great as it is, basically is more of a treatment then CC, at least for most. Some can use it straight forward only occasionally, some add a pump or two to all their cleanses. Some can't use it period. So 613 gallon maybe too much of a product for an occasional use.

MIF has a perfect balance of moisture, and still leaves hair bouncy and light. You can continue to use TT as a first cleanse, followed with MIF.

But have you even tried MIF before, OP? Gallon is a lot, if you are not at all familiar with a product

From a performance perspective, I agree with your suggestions @sonechko. I also agree that it's not a great idea to buy a gallon of any WEN formula you haven't tried before. My experience with MIF is that it performed very well for me, but I really didn't like the scent at all and I found it was quite strong and lingered in my hair all day. I was able to use it by mixing it with 613 or BGT to neutralize the scent somewhat. Most people seem to like the scent of MIF, but what if you were to buy a gallon and then find out you are one who hates the scent? It would be expensive to ship the gallon back, I would think.

Yes, I have used it(MIF) , but it was a while back and it was a small bottle. I just can't remember what i thought about it. LOl! I have used WEN off & on for about 1 1/2 yrs. I just recently seemed to have finally figured it out. I still can only go 2 days before cleansing again. I did think the 613 would be to moisturizing for me. Thank you all for your advice.

I agree. You need to be completely sure how the different formulas work on your hair before you commit to a gallon. You don't want to buy a gallon and then realize that it really doesn't do much for your hair at all. There's always next year.

If I were to guess, I'd say that only 30-40% of the Wenners who post to this forum regularly wind up purchasing a Wen gallon.

During the presentations the hosts hype the great gallon value by comparing it to what Wenners would have to pay on Chaz's website. That's misleading because, on Chaz's site, he charges more for his products than your would pay for for his products on QVC. -- This is because the hosts' job is to sell as much product as possible: best way to do that is to get people excited about a limited time value that is only available in limite quantity. -- So try not to get caught up in the hype.

If you know that you're primarily using one formula, then a gallon may be a good bet... but you have to now that this is what you want because it takes a long time to use up a Wen gallon.

I think most Wenners get excited about the gallon offering even if they know that they will never purchase a Wen gallon. It's just a way to celebrate all things Wen. -- I'll never buy a gallon because I love trying all the new Seasonals, and I don't want to be tied down to a gallon of a particular scent. -- I enjoy the gallons celebration because I know that other Wenners are excited about snaggin their gallons, and I'm happy for them.

Additionally, throughout the year there a number of Cleansing Conditioner special vaiues, OTOs and TSVs that come close to the Wen gallon value.

A few of them are even regular QVC product listings that are available 365 days a year. These include the 16oz duos (price: $40) of Sweet Almond Mint (SAM) / Tea Tree, OR Sweet Almond MInt / Pomegranate.

At the end of this post, I've listed a few of the other good duo values which you might want to try. They're in no particular order; they're just listed according to best values.

I'd really recommend trying the first one which is a 16oz SAM plus (8) 2oz Classic CCs Variety pack. This would allow you to try all six CCs in the Classic line.

You may also want to look through the Wen TSVs going back to December 2009 -- items in TSV kits and prices thread. I haven't updated this info since last August, but it should give you an idea of the TVS values through the years.

SInce I've first bought the December 2009 TSV, each December TSV has included (5) 16oz CCs which have been priced at $80 for the past few years (that's $16 per CC). -- recently, on periscope, Chaz hinted that we could expect a similar TSV for this upcoming December 5th TSV. -- If last year's price holds, then that comes out to $128 per gallon of Wen (8 x $16 = $128).

This makes the December TSV likely to be the hands down best CCs value of the year.

@bebe777 makes some really good points here. I agree, I think the percentage of gallon users is smaller than it seems when gallons are being sold.

I also buy all of the seasonals. I bought 2 gallons (Fig and Tea Tree) in June of 2013. The auto delivery gallons were scheduled for December and I canceled the Tea Tree, so in total I had two gallons of Fig and one of Tea Tree. Now it's September of 2015 and I have a small amount of Tea Tree left and one Fig gallon I just opened. Because I also order the seasonals and some of the TSV sets, those gallons have lasted a very long time. I didn't buy any this year and will probably get one gallon of Fig next June because Fig is the one formula I use almost every wash and mix with most anything else I use.

I agree with the others in saying...do not buy a gallon of something you do not love. I made the mistake of purchasing a gallon of BGT without first trying it! Yikes. I managed to use 2/3 of the gallon mixed with other formulas, and I gave the final 1/3 away. BGT made my color treated hair horribly dry. I did buy a gallon of SMC this past June because I know I love it; it works well for 3 seasons, and the scent is pretty nondescript to me. FAS is my all time favorite CC, but it looks like I will have to find another option for when the months get drier. Low humidity levels WRECK my hair, and FAS has been the only formula to provide enough moisture during the winter months. Since scent is such a personal thing, I would recommend you try several formulas before deciding on a gallon.

How long ago it actually was? I do not know what you mean by "Yes, I have used it(MIF) , but it was a while back", because MIF is a newer formula and only became available from, I believe, March of this year. So it could not have been this long! Could it be you've used some other CC?

By any means, do refrain from buying a whole Gallon of a CC, if you are not sure about it's performance for your hair, and not sure you'd enjoy it's fragrance enough to use it for a long time.

There are many formulas in WEN to choose from! These Gallons will come again next year, and in June there will be more choices of gallons.

Meanwhile, you may scroll WEN product page looking for good deals in kits, duos, trios, and other multiple choice offeriings so you may try more from the product line.

I also wanted to add @mamawsboys, soon - in December WEN will be offering specials, and one them is the one for you - a multiple CC Kit 16 oz from the Core Line, and probably/hopefully another Kit from Seasonal Line.

There are I think about 5 CCs in each kit, and the price is very palatable! This is going to be a wonderful opportunity to get familiar with as many as 10 CCs between two kits, this is one very affordable purchase!

This is your way to invest your money wisely, get to know many formulas a receive a quite large supply of CC to use for a while. Based on your experiences from these kits, and maybe some other small purchases you'll be making, next June or September you will be able to choose and buy yourself a Gallon (or five!).

Sonechko makes a very good point about the upcoming December tsv. It is a great way to try many different formulas at a great price. I would imagine that this works out to be very comparable in price to the gallon price.

I only bought a 16-oz bottle of the Bamboo Green Tea and regretted it, so I'm so sorry that you wound up stuck with a gallon. I had to mix mine with Fig and Fall Tuscan Pear to get it to work for my dry hair. Both Winter Cranberry Mint and Winter White Citrus have also worked for my dry hair, so if you haven't tried those formulas, you may want to experiment with them to supplement your Fall Apple Spice.
