Wow that's disheartening. I have several Temptations 9x13 baking dishes but I have never used them for baking. What a mess for one to break in the oven.

It makes me think it's better to use a metal or Corning/Pyrex or Anchor Hocking dish for baking.

My daughter-in-law's mother uses a 9x13 emerald green Woodland Temptatios baking dish for holidays and it has held up so far. It's a beautiful piece.

Sorry to say that within the past couple of weeks 3 of my temptation baking dishes have cracked, ptetty much right in half. One actually slit in half in the oven with dinner on it. I have loved Temptations for years, but, i have to admit to being a bit apprehensive now that it will happen again. Is this a known problem?

Also, a couple of my older temptations have discolored. Is this a common problem?

Not sure how thif forum works. This is my first time using it.

Thank you.,

Wilberk

BUT, I do take some precautions.

1. Never, ever put it in the oven straight from the fridge. I let it sit on the counter for about 30 minutes to get closer to room temp.

2. I hand wash my baking dishes, but never put them straight into hot or cold water. Let running water get lukewarm, then put dish under it til water is hot.

Has this made a difference? I honestly don't know...but my dishes have never cracked/crazed/discolored.

I have several baking Temptations pieces...for about 20 years now. I bake in them not often, like all the time, but regularly (certain dishes I make in them throughout the year)...luckily, no crazing, no cracking in the oven (have baked probably up to 325 mostly.) Again, all mine are about 18-20 years old now.

Maybe now they're made differently for all I know...as most things seem to be after a long time. But again, I'm just speculating on that.

@wilberk Welcome to the boards. I'm sorry this happened. I'd call Customer Svc at QVC, maybe they'll give you Temptations customer service contact info, and hopefully someone will help you with this.

You get what you pay for. I would never chance baking in a Temptations product after reading many user reports of cracking and breaking! I still remember their fiasco of a return processs for a defective, dangerous potholder mitt.

I bought a four piece set many, many years ago. It was dark navy blue with rattan holders so they could be placed on the table while hot. They came with plastic lids.

I had lasagne in the large 9x13 deep dish and it broke while in the oven. It split right in the middle. I was pretty upset. Everything was made from scratch, even the lasagne pasta sheets and it was all lost.

I threw the two next larger sizes out. I still have the smallest piece that I use to store sugar packets, but I'd never bake it it again.

I never bought any more Temptations.

I'm glad I have enough old baking dishes made in the USA. I've heard some real bad stories about the baking dishes made in China cracking and even entirely breaking as they were taken from the oven. I think this is a normal reaction to the baking dishes.

I have had issues with Temptations. Everything from wrong items being sent to crazing. A friend had a large Temptations baker break in the oven. The final straw was when I saw Tara posting cooking videos this summer using metal cookware. Like she doesn't even use her own stuff in the kitchen? I received a Pioneer Woman ceramic mug for Christmas and love it. It has lasted through daily trips through the microwave. I am going to venture into her brand of bakeware.

After reading about breaking in the oven while cooking, I use my pieces for cold items too. Small bowl holds Dip, a bigger bowl holds the chips. I do have that Springfetti set of four bakers, I figured I could make a stacked cake with but use for cold things too. My coffee mugs have never cracked and they hold hot drinks. Now I have to get rid of a lot of it. Had fun buying it lol but its time to downsize.
