I'm going to do a puzzle this winter! Really want to.

Want to do one of an old time store. You know that has all that old fashioned stuff in it. I saw one at Hobby Lobby that I really would like to do. It must be the change in the season since it's hit me so hard to want to do one. Quiet time.

Do you have a favorite one you like to do, or do you sew or something like that for your quiet time. I mean, granted I'm retired, but I want to really put the blinders on and concentrate on something. This I can do and leave it up and come back to and pick up where I left off. When you can't get out much or don't need to in the winter, this fits the bill for me. At least this year. LOL

@qualitygal A puzzle sounds like a good idea. I haven't done one since my kids were little. I'll have to take a look at them.

I like to color. I haven't done it in a few months though.

I used to crochet, counted cross stitch and sew. It's been years..

I need to find something else to do besides eat this winter.

@qualitygal, me too. My BIL gave me two. I don't know how good I will be. I plan to set up a card table in the den so I can work on it when the mood hits. Between that and my quilting, I will be busy for the winter months! LM

I used to break out a puzzle every New Years Day and puzzle away with football on TV in the background. I still love puzzles, but I'm "addicted" to doing them on my computer. JigsawsGalore has the best puzzles!!!!! You can do a lot of customizing (number of pieces, shapes, etc). I have mine set for about 350 pieces right now and do at least one puzzle a day or two. I just can't stop!!!!! And I've bee doing them on my computer for a couple of years now! Love my jigsaw puzzles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny you should mention this. Just the other day I thought to myself I would like to get a puzzle to keep me busy when the cold months hit. I want to find a solid surface to do it on and be able to slide it under the couch when not doing it. I am going to check some craft stores and see what they have to offer. Have fun with yours.

I love to do puzzles, but with two cats it's difficult. They want to help!

@luvdoodles, Amazon has a lot of puzzle carriers, but the good ones are surprisingly expensive at nearly $100 or more. The reviews are helpful.

I too love doing puzzles in the winter! Each winter I do several very large ones especially if we have lots of snow. I love the large ones and have several with the irregular edges and they are fun and beautiful. Lang makes some really neat ones with old vintage scenes. A new one I have which I haven't gotten to work yet, is of my beloved St. Louis Cardinals and Busch Stadium. Looking forward to that one this winter! My husband brings in a long table for the family room and we leave it up for quite some time. Most puzzles we work won't fit on a card table. Having a garage sale next week and selling about a dozen which we've worked several times.

I have enjoyed doing puzzles since I was a kid. Still have a few 1000-1500 puzzles that I drag out once in a while.

But this summer while in Ireland I met a lady who had her head down into her iPad, really intent. She showed me a puzzle app called Magic Puzzles. I downloaded it and don't miss a day of using it. Very relaxing.

There is a daily free puzzle you can access each month, and then there free ones if you add up enough points solving other puzzles; and of course, there are packages of puzzles you can purchase for a small amount.

In each case, you are allowed to pick which degree of challenge you want. Bigger pieces way down to really small pieces. So the same picture can take you only 42 pieces to finish, 72 pieces, 143, 288, or 550 (which is really small). The less number of pieces you decide to play means it will take you longer to add up the points. The size for 143 pieces is just right for me because the mini iPad already makes everything smaller. Not too easy, but large enough to see without difficulty.

Puzzles are a good way to relax, and they're good exercise for your brain, too. I do them all year long. I can't buy bigger than 500 pieces, or it's too big for my table, but that's a good size for one person anyway.

Check out Amazon for some really beautiful ones. I'm doing one now called "Country Autumn" and my next is "Nana's Kitchen". I plan to frame the kitchen one and hang it in my own kitchen. You'll probably pay more to get one you really love, but considering how much time you spend thinking of it while you're puzzling, it's worth it to pick something that speaks to your spirit.

Have one going on my table right now. I love the vintage ones too. Saturday Evening Post has a lot of neat ones if you are looking for those types of images. Amazon sells them or I think I picked up a few in Walmart too.

Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Barnes and Noble have nice ones too and they always have a coupon if they are not on sale.

Ok what I have coming is "Toy Shelf" by Ravensburger & Dad's Shed by the same company. You can see them on Amazon. I want to do the Toy Shelf one and then hang it downstairs. I really like that one!!! I'll do that one first.

@qualitygal I goggled it and that looks adorable.

I'm currently doing Grandma's Craft Shed which is the largest one I've ever tried. I'm usually a 1000 puzzle piece person but decided to challenge myself and make a go of it. So many pieces but so far so good!

@World Traveler That is cool but I think it would scare me when I saw something glowing in my house when I got up in the morning.
