Question about foaming soap container

I was given a container of the hand soap that foams. I used it up. I tried to refill it with liquid soap, but that didn't turn into foam. I tried to find foam refills in the liquid soap dept. but didn't see any. Can these things be refilled at all or do you just throw them away and buy new ones?

@geegerbee Put about one to two inches of soap in it and fill almost to the top with water. Leave a little room at the top for the dispenser. Give it a gentle shake and you're good to do. I've been doing this for a couple of years.

Hi @geegerbee,

I'm not sure that I understand your post...

Did someone give you a bottle of foaming soap that already had soap in it, and you wanted to reuse it/refill it, or was it actually a foamer that someone filled for you, that you can use over again?

Anyway, the way to use a foamer is to put about one third of a thinner type of liquid soap in the bottom of the foamer, and then add some water to the rest of the bottle, being careful not to put too much water into the bottle, so that it doesn't foam when you use it.

If you use a soap that is too thick in it, it can clog up the spring mechanism in it, where the spring can break and then the foamer will not work/stop working properly.

The way that a foamer works is that the soap and the water mix together and when you press the hand pump on the bottle to use it, foam will come out of it.

You can buy foamers online, or you may be able to find them in container stores, or maybe the houseware dept. of some other stores.

Fill the container about 4/5 full of water, then add soap...you can add fragrance if you want to. Shake and it should foam

editer to add: I always add the water first then the soap.

I find my Foamy Soap Refills at Target!! Also found it at CVS, Target was a little cheaper

I love the foaming soaps. I continue to buy them at Bath & Body Works. They have so many different scents.

That is my problem. Regular liquid soap was too thick. I will start over with added water. Thanks....cheaper than buying another container.

Darn, wish I would have kept my large empty foam dispenser from years ago. It was Tiramisu by Perlier or their body and bath category. It was a delightful scent: coffee, chocolate, and vanilla scent. Wish they would offer that large container of Tiramisu. Not sure about the spelling, and it's not on the spell check.

Yes, you can buy refills for the foaming hand soap containers. You just have to read all the refill bottles and pick the correct one.

The soap is already lathered when you use it. Sort of like a lightweight mousse. I can still smell the Tiramisu scent. Heavenly

When I was using foamers more regularly, I would use thinner/more liquid shower gels or thinner bubble baths in them for the liquid soap portion, and those seemed to work the best for me. I seemed to have the best luck with them.

Anything that was more "gel-like/creamier" tended to clog up the foamers, and they would wear out faster, even if I tried to use less of it or use it sparingly, like if it was a favorite scent and I wanted to use it in a foamer. It just wouldn't work out that well.

This would happen with a very large empty foamer that you could buy, that was made to be used with different soaps.

I wasn't re-using one that had already contained a retail product, so I don't know if that would be any different regarding size, mechanism, and so on.

If you want a fragrance to the foaming soap do I need to use scented soap or uncented and add fragrance...and would that be an oil for the fragrance?
