Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! It was a nice day today there - babies were good, and smiles. Got home earlier, and took a nap, showered, Linus made supper while I slept, and now I'm at this and soon to be in bed! Ordinary miracles today!! Thank you, Lord!!

There is always a reason why people act as they do. Lord, help me to be

more patient and understanding.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and
gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God." ~1 Peter 1:21

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I can rely on God. I can trust God to the limit. I can depend on God's
power in all human relationships. I can wait and trust and hope, until God
shows me the way. I can wait for guidance in each important decision. I
can meet the test of waiting until a thing seems right before I do it. Every
work for God can meet this test of time. The guidance will come, if I wait
for it.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may meet the test of waiting for God's guidance. I pray that
I will not go off on my own.

Appreciate What You Have

Today upon a bus, I saw a lovely maid with
golden hair. I envied her - she seemed so
gay - and wished I were as fair. When
suddenly she arose to leave, I saw the
cruel braces as she hobbled down the aisle;
a victim of polio was she. But as she passed
-- a smile!
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two straight feet. The world is mine!

And then I stopped to buy some sweets.
The lad who sold them had such charm.
I talked with him. He said to me, "It's nice
to talk with folks like you. You see," he said,
"I'm blind." Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two eyes. The world is mine!

Then walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play.
It seemed he knew not what to do.
I stopped a moment, then I said,
"Why don't you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word
and then I knew.... He could not hear.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two ears. The world is mine!

With feet to take me where I'd go,
with eyes to see the sunset's glow;
with ears to hear what I would know --

I'm blessed indeed. The world is mine!

Prayer for Peace

Send Thy peace, O Lord,
   which is perfect and everlasting,
   that our souls may radiate peace.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
And I don't borrow from the sunshine

Speak Lord

The secret of the Lord have they who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its meaning. Psalm 25:14

When God speaks of His hands,
He wants you to recognize His power.

When God speaks of His face,
He wants you to behold His glory.

When God speaks of His feet,
He wants you to understand His authority.

When God speaks of His arm,
He wants you to experience His salvation.

When God speaks of the cross,
He wants you to know His heart.

APPLYING AND REMOVING

Each morning and evening I have the same routine. Yours may be similar. I apply my make up each morning and remove it at night. I take off my night gown and put on my work clothes. I remove my bite guard in the morning and replace it before bed. I even have these cycles in other areas of my life. I take off weight, then put it on again. I shed my life of extra activities, then take them back on again. Off and on, off and on…. What a routine!

God tells us there is something we need to take off, and we only need to do it once. That sounds really good to me! It is our old nature (called our sin nature in the Bible). It leads us into nothing but trouble and is rotten through and through. (Ephesians4:22) When we take that off, God gives us a new nature. One where we have a spiritual renewal of our thoughts and attitudes. We will display this new nature because we are made new people after we have learned the truth that is in Jesus. Attributes of this new and wonderful nature are righteousness, holiness and truth, for our new nature displays that we have been created in God's likeness.

I am glad I have shed the old nature and received the new. And, I am thankful it is a one time swap ! God is so good !

August 4 - Jesus Calling

Hold My hand, and walk joyously with Me through this day. Together we will savor the pleasures and endure the difficulties it brings. Be on the lookout for everything I have prepared for you: stunning scenery, bracing winds of adventure, cozy nooks for resting when you are weary, and much more. I am your Guide, as well as your constant Companion. I know every step of the journey ahead of you, all the way to heaven.

You don’t have to choose between staying close to Me and staying on course. Since I am the Way, staying close to Me is staying on course. As you focus your thoughts on Me, I will guide you carefully along today’s journey. Don’t worry about what is around the next bend. Just concentrate on enjoying My Presence and staying in step with Me.

Lovely readings today, thank you! Ordinary miracles, they are the best. Sometimes I wonder why I overlook them and want something major,glamorous, life changing but all along, there they are in front of me and indeed my life is changed! Sometimes I expect too much, gratitude and thanks!

Glad you are getting some rest Gloria.

Went to see an orthopedist on Thursday for my Sciatica, he took x rays and sugested a procedure where they put you under an x ray so they know exactly where to give you a shot I sure hope it works. Please pray. I have to wait for a phone call to find out when and where.

Good morning!

So glad you had a good day with the twins, gloriajean. They will be laughing and babbling before you know it. Thanks for our daily devotions. We do know who holds tomorrow AND today, although I admit sometimes I do ask Him, what are you thinking?! It's a good thing He loves me.

Nancy, what do you do at the museum? I live not too far from a couple art museums and a couple historical museums.

I hope your doctor helps your sciatic nerve problem, Harlene. It can make you miserable. I had problems when I was younger, but not for many years.

I'm on the deck with coffee listening to cardinals, robins, and very loud cicadas! It's 80 already here with 85% humidity. Ugh! I'm going to have to take my walk early.

Hi Ruby! You bet that would be fun when they are laughing out loud! I can hardly wait! I'm just thinking of you in your deck drinking coffee watching the birds like I used to do before we moved to the apartment. We had a lovely patio/porch screened in and large. How I miss that! Have to look at ordinary miracles this way now - like being grandma for twins! Thanks for posting! Love having you as one of us!

Hi Lucy - yes - it's the end of a full week here at Darla's. I'll have some time off next week Darla's Mother-in-law (her name is Gloria too) wants 3 days next week. She just called me. I've been wondering about Juanita and how she is etc. I did email her, no answer. Why can't she post anymore? No computer? Tell her she is missed if you are writing to her. How's everything with you and how's the husband? Praying for all your intestions.

For those who asked, I am a tour guide at the museum. I work at Louisa May Alcott's home and she is author of Little Women. Wonderful book and the home is where she wrote the book. Lots of amazing people lived nearby. Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau. The person who sculpted the Lincoln Memorial in WAshington DC got some of his first art lessons from Louisa's sister May who died young, but had some success as an artist. Anyway, I give tours and love it. The work is different then my school job so I use different skills. I work incredible women of all ages which makes it nice. Women in high school, college to some in their late 70s and early 80s. We all learn and grow from each other. Except for it being 45-50 minutes away, I love it!

Thanks for asking. I love to hear about everyone and what they do and their lives. It really is like having coffee with each of you. Thank you for sharing.

Nancy, how interesting! I read the unabridged "Little Women" for the first time in fifth grade. It was so much better than the abridged edition. Every November I read her short story, "Old Fashioned Thanksgiving."

My daughter is a high school English teacher, and one of her favorite authors is Nathaniel Hawthorne. You live in a rich literary state!

Nancy - that is very interesting! I saw the movie "Little Women" when it first came out - I was a kid and went with my sisters in Mpls. when I was staying with them in their apartment. Later I read the book too. I even had paper dolls "Little Women". Giving tours there has to be fun and enjoyable. Too bad you live so far from there, ever thought of moving?
