Legitimate work-from-home jobs

Does anyone work from home or know of a legitimate work-from-home job that doesn't entail driving, I can't drive? I'm not looking for massive income, just supplemental to help with bills.

To be completely honest, I'm not qualified for anything. I've always been a house person, think like the Duggar girls; cooking, cleaning etc. Selling odds and ends on Craigslist for pocket money. I've seriously thought about opening an Esty shop.

I've lived with social anxiety and panic disorder my entire life, so I try to avoid direct contact with people. You don't know how hard it is to walk not even an 8th of a mile to met up with a potential sale through CL. Not only because of the unknowns in this world, but trying not to have a panic attack leading up to leaving the house, walking to, or while waiting for the strangers, who could be dangerous....my only protection is an umbrella, or just to slow down my heart rate and adrenaline pumping.

@Ane1Care - you say you are not qualified for anything, then you say you want to open an Etsy shop. What would you be selling via Etsy? That would involve leaving the house to go to the PO for shipping of items. And, how would you process payments? PayPal charges a fee for each order. And, I believe the Square does as well.

Have you seen a therapist for you anxiety/panic attacks?

Sounds like you could benefit greatly from seeing one before you become agoraphobic.

My post office picks up packages. I'm in a tiny town, so I can walk to the post office if needed. The PayPal fee is nominal, I used it with saling on eBay. By resume standards, I'm not qualified. I have 21 college hours I acquired in high school while studying to work in carpentry. That was well before my mental health started to decline so bad. I've never worked a "real" job. As a teen I worked for a friend's folks who owned a produce stand. I made .25 per dollar I sold. It was mainly me unloading the flat bed full of produce, setting up the stands outside, menial, albeit hard, labor. I made more calluses and muscle than money.

@Ane1Care Are you crafty? I thought ETSY was a make it, sell it. Don't worry about going to P O , UPS, and other delivery will pick up at your door. Find out what PayPal charges. The important thing is doing your research.

I know about panic attacks, just do your best.

I'm so sorry about the anxiety and panic disorder. I hope you have a good therapist and physician to help with this. They also could be helpful to you in finding the work that would be a good fit. I know it's not easy.

I've known a few people with legitimate office jobs.....where the company allows "tele-commuting" a few days a week over a company computer hookup.................. I have also found that some computer "trouble- shooters" work from home.

Most medical transcription requires extensive knowledge of medical terminology, as well as excellent spelling and grammar skills, and a large vocabulary.

Did you ever make a phone call to a doctor's office and get their live phone answering service? I think some of them are home based verses having to go to a specific work location. I just don't much about them, except they are an answering service for multiple clients.

No offense meant to Riley1 - the ads for learning medical transcription usually make it seem like a piece of cake ;-( but the reality is very different. It is *possible* to find a service that will start newbies out on easy office notes, but "easy" is relative, and you still need excellent spelling, grammar and vocabulary. And they will invariably want you to work the graveyard shift - seriously - or 12+ hour days, and weekends.

Working for an answering service from home (doctor or otherwise) may be a viable option. But again, they often want evening/graveyard shift people.

I agree, @Moonchilde. I've never known of medical transcription that didn't require some sort of training -- at least some basic on-the-job training sessions -- since those notes become a legal part of the medical record.

@Ane1Care...I have a relative that works from home taking sales calls for hsn. She gets some benefits, the hours are standard shifts, full and part time hours were available. You do have to have a dedicated quiet work space. She found the job while looking on line for 'working at home'. They only offer the job in certain areas and I do not know what those areas are but it wiill not hurt to look. Good luck!
