Do you use an old-school planner or an app?

Up until a few years ago, I used a Filofax for all my scheduling and planning. Then I switched to an app on my iPhone. Yes, the app is obviously easier to carry, and I can set reminders for appointments, buts it's not customizable and is really only used for appointments. I'm thinking about going back to a book style planner. Not necessarily a Filofax, probably an Erin Condren Life Planner. Aside from being adorable and customizable, it allows for planning, notes, organization, etc. But it's 7" X 9". I'm just wondering if I'll get sick of shlepping it around. Even with using the book, I would probably still set reminders on my phone. Does anyone still use a book? Or do you use an app on your phone?

I only use Outlook Calendar. Plus, of course, I make lists on notecards for my daily list of tasks to complete.

I carry a planner in my purse and I have a large calendar in my office where I also post appointments.

My daughters put their appts and their children's 1,000 things they are doing on their IPADS and iphones. The daughter with 4 children in 4 different schools and many outside activities showed me her planning schedule and almost every day was filled up (even Sundays).

When they lived at home they took dance lessons for 13 years. It was hard enough keeping up with those things every week. I take my grandchildren to the movies, shoe shopping, to the book store, etc but almost have to make an appt to fit it in! I think it's too much, but I'm a grandma so what do I know! Ha!

I use both, when I am on my phone I cannot use its calendar, so I use a small planner as well.

@Goldengate8361 aside from my appointment/calendar app, I also have several lists....daily, weekly, meal planning, to buy, etc. so I'm thinking the planner might help to keep it all together.

Did someone mention lists? Oh! Well! I make lists of lists....really, the problem is I forget where the lists are....or if I remember them, I forget where I put them!

I try, I really try. I raised daughters who are the direct opposite of me. They are list makers (as was my late husband). They are organized and I am in my own way. I traveled with my husband and 3 daughters throughout Europe for 29 days, stayed in 19 hotels and never forgot anything. (That's my claim to fame). Ha!

I'm more old school than most of you all!

This has never failed me.....

I keep one on my kitchen & bedroom walls. Never fails me, even when I don't have wi-fi and/or internet access.

I loved my planner, so easy, so uncomplicated. Alas, I have fallen victim to my Iphone..Its just easier because its always with me. But I loved my planner

I use a Franklin Covey 8.5 x 11 planner for work. Yes, I get teased for lugging it everywhere I go but it's "my memory".

I never heard of a filofax. Back in the day, I used a day planner. Omg! It makes me laugh to think about it now. That big fat leather day planner, stuffed to the gills with receipts, business cards, notes etc. The thing was heavy and heaven forbid if I forgot to tuck it into my bag; I would be lost. No contacts, no appointments. But that's what we and and it seemed so modern...lol Once I got a cell phone, I had no use for that day planner. Freedom !! Everything I need was at my finger tips and when I got a smart phone, I could sync my work meetings and schedules and contacts with my personal things and life became even easier. I cannot envision ever going back to an old fashioned day planner. What would be the point? .

Me, too.............and I keep them for years. I know "when" the roof leaked, the water heater broke down, etc. etc. etc.

LOVED my old planner..... but stopped carrying when I broke down and got an iPhone. I started with an iPhone 3 and more or less made my own planner suited to me with one of the first apps. Since then I've progressed to an iPhone 6Plus and L O V E L O V E L O V E it..... !

This is good topic of discussion.

I have used a Franklin Covey Compact size (BLOOMS) for over 20years.

Recently I saw a review of a planner for the Cell Phones I am curious about. It looks interesting. *MOLESKIN TIMEPAGE* in I Tunes for $3. The review was in the MACWORLD online website. I am not sure if it *syncs* with Ipad? The reviewer said this APP was very much like a paper planner but better? I am still in research mode. I may order it and play with this TIMEPAGE planner.

I also keep a simple month at the glance style calendar on the side of the fridge. I check it each evening to see what is what the next day and we both update it from our planners.

DH used to get a paper planner wirebound each year but he has gone all APPLE planner that he likes a lot. The Apple planner syncs with his I-Phone, I-Pad and MacBookPro. He says the APPLE planner is pretty easy to use and sends him reminders via email The Apple planner is built in to his I-Phone 6 and did not cost extra. I may check that out too, I have an older I-Phone 5 I got from my son when he got an I-Phone 6Plus.

I like my paper planner to be honest, I scribble FYI! stuff in it all the time. I may try using both a cell phone planner along with my paper planner. The paper planner weighs in at THREE POUNDS! I keep three months at the time of 2pages per day. *Last month, *This month and *Next month. It is in a zip case and in a canvas zip cover bag that FC used to sell.

we keep a similar family calendar on side of fridge and it comes in quite handy for recall of dates and events even a few years back because I KEEP the calendars for reference along with the IRS TAX folders and bill/finance books for each year. CAT

I write appts on a calendar in the kitchen and I have my own planner in my purse. I just feel more comfortable doing it this way although I tried a app on my phone.

I have used the Week At a Glance calendar book for at least 30 years. It works for me so I don't see a reason to change to another system.
