Wondering if anyone in the Midwest or Northeast is experiencing the smoke from the Canadian wild fires? Coupled with the heat this week, it's going to be tough to be outside.

Not yet; however, I remember quite a while ago when we were down in Cape May ( southern tip of New Jersey ) on vacation, as I sat on the front deck I began to see white wisps of smoke starting to drift down the street..... all the way from Canada !

Really bad here in the UP of Michigan, we're in the purple zone, I went outside to fill the bird feeders and it was terrible`

I'm in Colorado and we have several fires burning right now. The air quality has tanked and warnings given. For about a 2-week stretch there were no blue skies above me. Just brown haze. I did't do much outside during that time. Drought is a huge problem here now and fire danger has been elevated for months on end. More fires are bound to happen unfortunately.

Many of these fires shown on this map are large and they could burn indefinitely until fuel runs out or if it rains which is rare these days.

@Blondie59. There are so many fires burning that our atmosphere in NM is generally smokey all the time this summer. We have our own in-state fires plus we've gotten smoke from Colorado and Utah, depending on how the wind is blowing. I think people on the East coast have no idea as to how devastating these fires have been with thousands of acres of land ruined.

How awful @Kachina624. I've read about the fires out west and the devastation to the beautiful landscape. We typically don't get this in PA, just like we don't typically get 105 degree temperatures.

Yes, I'm in east central Pa and it's very hazy here due to the wildfires in Canada.

100% Rhode Island and the Boston-metro area have had this orange haze for two days now, but the smoke is really picking up today.

We are on Vacation on MN side of Lake Superior and we cannot be outside except to go to the car and back.

So we are watching England vs. Argentina, I think I'm rooting for Argentina but I'm ok if Englands wins too, lol.

We are in upstate NY and the wildfires are affecting us cruelly. The sky is smokey and you can't breathe outside. Warnings to keep inside.

Yes, here in NYC we have the smoke alert. Between that, the 96 degrees, and the Legionnaires' Disease outbreak we are having a swell time of it.

I'm in the NY Mid-Hudson Valley. Air Quality alerts through tomorrow. It's not comfortable, weird haze in the sky, and you can actually smell it. Hoping for a little rain, may help. Staying inside as much as I can.

Yes! We live 1 mile south of Lake Ontario in NY and this morning the sky was an errie yellow and the air smelled of smoke. Still does and tomorrow the forcast is worse...Had to keep our lights on all day cause it is so dark. I can't imagine the poor folks who live so close to the fires. Awful.

@redhead handbag queen. It's a shame your vacation is being ruined and you can't get outside. I imagine you have lots of company with others in the same situation around the country.

Only a matter of time when it starts creeping in where I live--Wa state--have fires in eastern WA then up north from Canada too. Get some from the south from Oregon too.

Wisconsin has air quality alerts. My DH just checked and ours is rated 248. I believe a number of 300 is considered hazardous and all outdoor activity should be suspended. It will be a few days before things get better.

Here in lower SW Michigan, it has just started to filter down. With temps in the mid 90's it's miserable. Same for next few days.
