FLU SHOT TIME......

I'm going to get my flu shot and Covid shot Friday morning. I always have a bad reaction to any of these shots, shingles, pneumonia, too. I'm having both together to get it over with.

I'm usually sick and most of the time in bed for almost a week.

Does anyone else get reactions to vaccines?

i might feel achy but that's about it.

i space my out. usually one per week. (FLu & Covid)

i get my flu in October, so i am covered for the Winter/Early Spring.

just and FYI: i went to my GP and she ordered measles immunity bloodwork.

if you were born between 1958-1968 you should have your immunity level tested.

especially if u have young/newborn grandchildren.

she sited the measles outbreak in Texas, i am on the east coast.

We got our flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago for that reason, @Shanus, I react badly to most vaccines and avoid all but the essentials. (flu, pneumonia, and shingles). I'm usually down for several days after the innoculation.

The only vaccine that has ever bothered me at all was the Covid one...we got the first two shots about a month apart back in 2020, and both of us felt a little "out of sorts" for a couple days, but not bad.

I get a flu shot every year, and except for a little soreness at the injection site for a day or so, no problems. DH never gets a flu shot--and has never had the flu, or Covid. I had 2 very mild cases of Covid, one about 3 months after the 2nd vaccine, another a year later. No Covid vax since the 1st two for either of us.

These vacines are so full of heavy metals and toxins. They do bodies more harm than good. There are so hany natural and homeopathic ways to gaurd against the flu and help get over it quicker. I would suggest you research quercetin, NAC, and Oscillococcinum. I could elllaborate alot on this topic but I don't want to cause a debate. Hopefully though , these suggestions help someone. .

Sorry to hear you are really impacted by shots. The only one that gives me a totally down day is the COVID shot.

Last year DH and I had updated shots for pneumonia, shingles and RSV....he got a little tired the next day but was normal the next day. I was asleep for the next day and barely eating.

I hope you have every luxury surrounding you for the next round in bed for the week. Great that you are taking care of your health !

@Shanus The only vaccine that I felt out of sorts with for about 24 hours was the first and second Covid shots. The flu shots have never bothered me. My arm was very sore after the Pneumonia and Shingles shots. Everyone as you know is different Your reaction sounds very uncomfortable for sure.

Good for you. Florida is already having a quiet outbreak because they don't let people know. I know of several people who have gotten Covid already and one of them has been sick for a month.

Lots of people are starting to get sick with all the weather changes and schools being back in session.

I second @hkrgrl 's recommendation and add in my own GenX peeps. We had to get a booster for college and we were told that was lifetime immunity. It is NOT.

I was tested for titers five years ago to get my pharmacy license and I was not immune from measles anymore.

Please ask for the simple blood test and get a third MMR shot if you don't want to contract measles or spread it.

I'm usually tired and feel a little yucky after shots that's why I schedule them so the day after I have nothing to do. I haven't had a Covid shot in probably 3 years but I do get a flu shot every year.

If I had such a bad reaction from a vaccine that put me in bed for a week, I would think twice about getting them. Flu shots are less than 50% effective. Never had one, never had the flu. I have received the shots for pneumonia, shingles and 3 Covid shots. Don't expect to ever get another vaccine. At 75 I'm done. At 79 the only shots DH has gotten were the Covids and that's because they were more or less required. We both got mild cases of Covid.

My husband often has a bad reaction to the flu shot and other shots too. Just watching him not doing well for 2-4 days is enough to make me not get the shots.

I have never had the flu. And when I worked, we got 2 weeks off. That included sick time and vacation. So of course people would come to work sick and coughing, sneezing and whatever. I did not catch whatever they were spreading. So I figured why get the shot and maybe have a bad reaction. Since I seem to be avoiding the flu and whatever people were spreading at work.

Had my flu shot the other day, and fortunately had no reaction.

My pulmonologist wants me to wait a month before I get my COVID shot, likely impacted by my lung issues.

Will add I had my COVID shot last year, but did have COVID despite being very careful. Yes, the shot does not guarantee you will never get it, only that it will be less severe. It surely was not fun, but I was thankful that at age 80 I was able to recover at home. My daughter's FIL decided not to get the shot, got COVID, was hospitalized, and suffered terribly after his lungs were affected. He fought hard, but he lost his battle.

One of the nicest people you could meet - still very missed.

Bad reactions are a sign that your body doesn't want these shots and they're not a good idea. Take the hints your body is giving you.

I am a cancer survivor who had several organs partially or fully removed. My spleen was one of those organs. As a result, I am current on vaccines, had my measles immunity checked ( all is well there), and had my flu shot two weeks ago and just had my Covid shot last Friday. The Covid injection usually causes a headache and some fatigue for 2-3 days.

Dh and I got our new Covid shots a week ago. Previously, i received Pfizer and had a similar experience each time, feeling crappy for about a day and by 8 pm the following night was fine. None of the shots ever seem to effect DH, even tho he is older than me. This time we got Moderna because it was what was currently available here and it supposedly protected people over 65 better.

Needless to say it was a whole different thing for me. The side effects were 50 times worse than previous. It took about 4 days before I felt normal. I did have every side effect listed from fever, to headace to muscle pain, to nausea, etc. I didn't take anything to curb the side effects because I wanted the strongest possible immune response. All that being said, I am thankful the shots are available and I'm glad I got the Moderna this time.

I am waiting til the first of October to get my senior flu shot. I've had the flu shot for at least 20 years and have never had the flu. I had a super mild case of covid year before last and took Paxlovid and was fine.
