Poor Phoenix, I don't know how people live there. It was only 97° in Albuquerque but 99° is predicted for next week every day.

I don't know how people live there either with that kind of heat. Add to that the thread I was reading here the other day about tarantulas and rattlesnakes - yikes!

I will say, however, what I understand even less is how people live in Florida. The heat is one thing, but that humidity?? No way could I stand that.

How do we live in Florida? Air conditioning! Lots of air conditioning!! In summer I mostly stay indoors just like when I grew up in New York I mostly stayed indoors in the winter.

I was out west and the temps were 114. Dry heat that high is unbearable! Everywhere we went people asked if we had water to drink in the car.

No matter where we live there is "weather". We all learn to live with where we are.

We spend a lot of outdoor time in our state of Colorado, would be very hard to stay indoors.

After living in fog growing up in SF this is a real treat. We have four seasons but they are pretty mild relatively speaking.

What bothered me most about living in Henderson/Las Vegas, NV was the intensity of the sun. Without humidity the sun even in January was too much. Lasted 13 years and moved to Chicago--much happier weather wise.

We stay inside mostly in summer just like people back east stay inside in the winter. Every place is air conditioned. You do your errands in the morning. Wear lightweight clothing and just enough of it to not get arrested sometimes. Don't bbq until October. It isn't fun or pretty but we survive.

I am one of those people who is always cold. I hate the winter months because I freeze even if dressed in wool.

I love the summer heat as long as I am not in the direct sun. My skin is Casper white and I burn in minutes.

We just got over a heat wave here in PA. It was near 100 degrees for about 10 days with high humidity. I sat outside on a covered deck most of the day because the AC was too cold inside.

We're expecting mid 80's this coming week. I'll be deck sitting again. It's either sitting outside being comfortable or sitting indoors under a blanket because the AC usually set at 76 is too dang cold. My DH is always hot.

I prefer heat with humidity over dry heat. Dry heat sucks the moisture from my skin, eyes and mouth and nose. I pity people who live in dry hot climates.

@rockygems123 I love Colorado weather! I had a family member who lived in the Steamboat Springs area. Even when it was below zero it didn't feel too bad in the dry atmosphere. And it might be hot during the day in the summer, but it always cooled down in the evening.

I have been enjoying our recent cool front!

The breeze is light and cool without humidity...we will see about today.

I used to be cold and still can be in ac.

Yesterday (80*) I put on sweat pants (love 'em) and an open stitch sweater!

@Desertdi. It's like January in Minneapolis. Just stay inside and hibernate until it goes away. That's what I do.

Florida is having record temps but we do cool down at night!

The sea breezes meet inland in the afternoons and somebody gets rain!

Even the clouds help drop the temp.

Never found too much that just had to be done between

12-5 pm. Good time for a cool drink and music!

@Kachina624 @Desertdi In the So. CA where I live, it was 120 degrees on my grandson's birthday on 7/9. It is over 115 most days, and once last year, the recorded temperature on my car when I was driving home in the afternoon was 126. Sometimes I feel like I retired to ******. Previously I lived in NJ, where I was used to some heat and humidity. Then I moved to the SF Bay area 43 years ago where the weather was actually fantastic. Too expensive to retire there, so hence the move to ****** 17 years ago. I'm still here, but as soon as my kids move out of So. CA to a cooler climate, I am joining them!!

@retiredatlast I'm not sure what part of SoCal you live but in our area it's been very pleasant, in the 70's. Our place is in the north San Diego area. You must live in the desert where one would expect those high temps.

@FLtricia My son lives in Steamboat. I have to say, I see it differently than you. It is bitterly cold in the winter and it lasts forever. Their Spring and Fall is absolutely gorgeous. The winters are just very long.

I love the cold but oh my, it was so cold.

@cjm61. My parents were both natives of Colorado and loved the state but opted to retire in NM due to the more moderate climate, as did I. We get some snow, enough to be pretty, but gone by evaporation by noon.

Colorado is just a short drive away.
