Hair color

Do you dye your grey hair if hubby says you look old? Did not returning to coloring after it grew back from chemo. I'm not crazy about the grey, but it sure is a lot easier on my to-do list. Thoughts. It's been six years.

If you are happy with the way you look and it's easier for you, then I would not color it. If it's making you feel older and you need a lift and it would be easier, then why not go to a salon and get it colored there? Then, you get a boost and you don't have the mess and smell of doing it yourself! Best wishes!!

Do it if you want, because YOU want to- not because someone else makes you feel you should!

DH prefers that I NOT dye my hair so after 20 years of dying my hair, 10 years ago at the age of 65 I stopped. We're both happier!

I'd tell him to go fly a kite (but in a nicer way). He made a rude comment. You have gone through a lot and deserve more compassion and tenderness.

You say you are not crazy about it which makes me think you prefer your hair colored.

You have to be satisfied with what you see in the mirror.

I do what makes me happy which is to color my hair, been grey since in my 30's, my Mom lived to be almost 95 and colored her hair until the day she died.

If you decide to color your hair, I suggest you go to a salon and your husband pay for all the related expense. Every tip, every touch-up.

I am having difficulty believing that this is a legitimate post especially with the added touch of heart-tugging mention of the word chemo. If this is all true I am crying for you. If my late husband, or anybody for that matter, actually said that to me, I would be very sad and very angry at the same time....for a long time. If this is a real situation....Girl....do whatever you want to do. Its not that gray hair makes you look old, it makes you look like your true natural self. And what in the blazes is wrong with looking old? Too many think that young equals good and old equals bad.

That would be the day my husband told me I look old. He is not that rude (or stupid) to say such a thing. Do what you want to do. It is your head of hair.

I dye my hair. I'm 69 years young. In my youth my hair was a dark chestnut brown. I dye it a lighter shade now. A light brown, eye brows also to match.

My hair would be a mousy grey color if not dyed, My sister on the other hand has a beautiful shade of grey. She does not dye.

NO!!! Of course I never did that type of thing whether my spouse said such a hurtful thing or not. It's MY hair not his---thanking the gods everyday that he is an EX now----I also had chemo and my hair grew back very grey but it looked pretty good and now days coloring hair is so stupid expensive---not a fan of the chemicals on my scalp either. Had way too many chemicals pumped into me 13 years ago from chemo.

if not, i would be hurt and angry and he would hear a few choice words from me.

Do What YOU Want! whatever makes you happy, go for it!!! life is too short no to do the little things that make you happy, chemo or no chemo!

i feel so much better when i get my hair colored and i have no intention of stopping!

Before I'd go to the trouble of that upkeep again, I'd look into 'dressing your truth' by Carol Tuttle. She shows examples of how wearing the wrong colors/styles can have an affect on how old you look.

My mom too...'til 91, and said she would forever. She looked beautiful to the end. That's my plan, so far, too. I just like it.

OP...congratulations on being a survivor. Hopefully, hubby didn't mean it to be "mean" ...just expressing his view of it ...but either way...do what makes you feel good.

I'm 67, dark gold blonde...do it myself at home, my hairdresser, who owned a hair dressing academy for years, taught me long ago how to do my own roots, so I wouldn't have to bother "getting it done"...either I or she puts in some highlights now and then. While I still can, I will, and if I don't want to, I'll get it done. I like the color better than gray, and why not?!
