Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! On the positive side we've had a very warm day today in MN - close to 70 degrees!! That is so welcoming!

Then I got some bad news - Gordy had to meet with Linda's cancer doctor after he had some tests done, and here he has cancer too! They will do an ultrasound of his spleen, and they will take some bone marrow out for a biopsy, could be leukemia - don't know for sure yet, what devastating news for them. So more testings for him. Please add him to your prayers. Tonight we are going to Darla's for overnight. We'll tell her to not take a sleeping pill, at least call her doctor or pharmisist first. Don't want any harm done to the babies. She has to sleep though, her first presentation is at 8:30 in the morning!! Let's all pray so she can sleep well without a sleeping pill. Pray and Trust!

When you need to calm your emotions, stop and turn your attention

to God. Lord, I know that You are my help right now and will show me

simple answers to what seems complicated and impossible.

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

With God's help, I can build a protective screen around myself which
can keep out all evil thoughts. I can fashion it out of my attitude
toward God and my attitude toward other people. When one worrying or
impatient thought enters my mind, I can put it out at once. I know
that love and trust are the solvents for the worry and frets of life.
I can use them to form a protective screen around me.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that frets and impatience and worry may not corrode my
protective screen against all evil thoughts. I pray that I may banish
all these from my life.

A Prayer is Something We Give

A prayer is something we give to God
When we want to say Hi.
It's also how we ask for things
When we wish, hope, or cry.

THE SECRET

A woman named Frances once knew a young person at church named Debbie.
Debbie always seemed effervescent and happy, although Frances knew she
had faced struggles in her life.

Her long-awaited marriage had quickly ended in divorce. She had
struggled to get a grip on her single life. She hadn't chosen it, but she decided
she would live it with utmost enjoyment and satisfaction.

Debbie was active in Sunday school, in the choir, as a leader of the
junior high girls' group, and in the church renewal movement. Frances
enjoyed knowing Debbie. Debbie's whole face seemed to smile and she
always greeted Frances with a hug.

One day Frances asked Debbie, "How is it that you are always so happy
you have so much energy, and you never seem to get down?"

With her eyes smiling, Debbie said, "I know the secret!"

"What secret is that?" "What are you talking about?" Frances asked.

Debbie replied, "I'll tell you all about it, but you have to promise
to share the 'secret' with others." Frances agreed,

"Okay, now what is it?"

The secret is this: I have learned there is little I can do in my life
that will make me truly happy. I must depend on God to make me happy
and meet my needs. When a need arises in my life, I have to trust God
to supply according to HIS riches. I have learned most of the time I
don't need half of what I think I do. HE has never let me down. Since
I learned that secret I am happy.

Frances' first thought was, That's too simple! But upon reflecting
over her own life she recalled how she thought a bigger house would
make her happy-but it didn't! She thought a better-paying job would
make her happy-but it hadn't.

When did she realize her greatest happiness? Sitting on the floor with
her grandchildren, eating pizza and watching a movie, a simple gift
from God. Debbie knew the secret, Frances learned the secret, and now
you know it too! We can't depend on people to make us happy-only GOD
in his wisdom can do that. Trust him. And now I pass the secret on to
you!

So once you get it, whatcha gonna do?

YOU have to tell someone the secret, too!

If..

If the world were full of Christians
who studied their Bible daily,
who really did believe
God’s commands applied to them,
who put what they learned
in God’s Holy Word into practice,
their actions reflecting that Word,
then earth would be close to heaven.
If the world were full of Christians
who knew that being a Christian
is more than going to church,
who lived their lives according to God’s will,
service to Him their main purpose,
who practiced Jesus’ teachings
every day, with everyone they met,
loving and helping their neighbors,
then the earth would be a place
of heavenly harmony and peace.

Gloria, I can tell you are so worried about your dear daughter and her babies. She should not take meds unless the doctor says it is ok. I am so thankful you and your dear husband will be with her. You can massage her back and neck. You can give her warm milk and provide soft music to soothe her and you can read to her to help her sleep.

I am so sorry about the health news for your dear neighbors. They have had so much to deal with. It will be so hard for them to manage all that has been given to them. They are so blessed to have you in their lives and able to care for them.

A lot has being asked of you these days and I am so glad you are healthy and able to provide for those who love you and need you. You are a blessing to so many. Including all who come here every day for you words of comfort and joy.

Please know that so many love and care for you and support you and your dear husband as you go about your day ministering to all who need and rely on you. Please keep up your strength and health.

You are loved by so many. May you be blessed each and every day for all you do to bring comfort and joy to so many.

Gloria, so sad to hear about your neighbors. I will pray very hard for them.

Gee sometimes I think I have problems with my stupid sciatica.

It got so bad this afternoon I could just about walk. My husband got me to the Chiropractor and now I feel much better.

Then I read this about your neighbors and then I say my God this is nothing compared to what these poor people are going through, I consider myself lucky.

I'll pray very hard for Darla tomorrow.

Gloria, I am so sorry about your neighbor. May the Lord heal him. He and his wife need lots of prayer. I am blessed because I came through my surgery well. Just some pain where the stitches are. I thank Jesus for watching over me.

Please tell Darla not to take any pills not perscribed by her baby's doctor. She can sleep on her own with you there to help her. When is she due?

Sending caring thoughts and best wishes to Linda and Gordy. I wish them well as they undergo treatment, it is a very difficult thing to deal with.

Thank you all for your responses and praying for Gordy and Linda! Much appreciated! Darla said she only took 1/4 of a sleeping pill when she couldn't sleep - everything went well - her presentations went great! She is very exhausted and sore, but now she can rest. She is due July 17, they won't let her go any longer than that.
