@viva923 My sister just had her tire repaired on Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving). What started out as a slow leak picked up in speed - they pulled a nail out of the tire and patched it.

@Snicks1 I'm glad that you had fun wrapping gifts with your daughter. She's on the road so much I can see why she goes all out for the Christmas holiday. We got a dusting of snow yesterday that hung around for the better part of the day. I love snow, lol.

@geezerette My thanksgiving was quiet too. My sister expressed a preference to stay home on the day so I met her at the Discount Tire near my house on Wednesday and we swapped food bags. She made meatloaf and cheesy potatoes and I gave her a sweet potato pie (no I did not bake it), King's hawaiin rolls and some of her favorite candy.

I'm so sorry that your sister landed up in the hospital with pneumonia. My sister and I were just talking about the rising cases of walking pneumonia across the nation.

All you can do for your friend is be there for her. If she was already having issues/worries about her husband I can see why losing the dog did her in. This is probably going to sound lousy - I've grieved harder for the animals that shared my life than some people who have died.

Hello all, yep, it's December, lol. Got about 4" of snow on my upper level deck, I swept a pathway through to get the birds and squirrels fed this morning, they were very hungry. The birds have already cleaned up all the food I put out and the squirrels must be sleeping in, I'll have to put more out when they show up. If the food isn't there, they'll be looking in the glass doors for it, lol.
Last night, my nurse daughter, SIL and their 3 adult children (my grands) all played a game together on our phone, just had to download an app for it. But, I have an android phone and I think they all have I-phones, my phone didn't work very well. I had no sound, so I couldn't hear them talking, they didn't know I couldn't hear, so it was kind of a mess, lol. Still it was nice to connect, sort of.

Almost forgot, I'm going to make one of those styrofoam cooler/cat shelters today. I wonder tho, about where to put it. There are stray cats all over the neighborhood and I'm not trying to get them to think my house is "home", just want to give some protection from the weather through this winter. Any ideas on a good spot for it, I'm thinking out in the woods by my house? Also, what direction should I face the hole (entrance)? I think either face the hole towards the south, or west, as doesn't the north or east wind usually come in really cold in the winter? I have straw to put inside for some added "cover", and will put drainage holes in the bottom. Put a black garbage bag around it for any heat retention from sunlight, I guess, I read that somewhere, anyway.

@Snicks1 Can you put it by the edge of the woods? I ask because I wonder if the threat is deep in the woods. I got no woods so I don't know I would definitely face the entrance away from the north since winds coming from that way are cold. The days are short this time of year and I wonder if facing the entrance towards the east woud benefit the occupant with sunshine and warmth?

I'd put the cat shelter away from my home but still in as sheltered an area as possible. Also, somewhere where you've seen the stray cats so they'll be sure to find it and investigate.

I think I'm several hundred miles south of you and my cold weather winds typically come in from the north or northwest. So in my case I'd put the opening facing south, plus the low sun in the winter might shine in and warm the cats while they're inside.

@geezerette makes a good point about semi shelter. Since you are starting with a styrofoam cooler that is fairly lightweight and I don't know enough about hay to know how heavy it is, I'd try to stash it where there are natural windbreakers so the wind don't blow it over.

About 7 years or so ago there was a long haired pretty cat in my yard. It was wearing a tag with the name - Oliver - and a tag giving the address on it. I picked the cat up in my back yard and walked it through my house and down the street to it's house. Knocked on the door, talked to the guy in the house and he acknowledged it was his cat and that the cat liked to be outside. To say that I wanted to deck the guy would be an understatement.

Oliver wasn't that crazy about me carrying him down the street and the peroxide and neosporin took care of the gores down my chest, lol. It hurt but I never let go of the cat. Anyways later that year I met Oscar also from the same house. I saved my breath to cool my coffee with that one. Over the years I stopped seeing Oliver, Oscar disappeared and then like 3 or 4 other cats that looked nothing like Oliver or Oscar started roaming the neighborhood.

These belong to no one and it sends me up one wall and down the other to see them roaming in the hot and cold weather. Last year I opened my garage addition (in the backyard) and left the garage door propped open about 8 inches. I put a beach towel on the cushioned convert-a-bench and a Meowy Hut on the round card table in the garage addition.

I earned a gift card from Chewy and bought 2 of these huts for basically no cost to me. Gave one to my sister and kept one. I put a folded beach towel on top of the thin cushion in the Meowy hut.

When the weather started getting severe - like freezing rain, sleet, snow and bitter temps I opened the garage addition. I checked the convert-a-bench and Meowy hut daily. Never saw footprints in the Meowy hut but I did see cat prints on the beach towel of the cushioned convert-a-bench.

Birdmama-i am here

the tire was covered under warranty we bought when we purchased the car 2 yrs ago it was for 5 yrs. saved us a bunch of money for 2 tires alone-from what dh said the way the nail hit the tire-guess repair couldn't be done or if it could didn't know if it would hold-all i care about we have 4 wheels that are inflated.

had to get a new t.v. yesterday at bj's- the sound quality was really lacking on that new t.v. we returned it yesteday to bj's we got a TCL replacement t.v. dh semi hooked it up last night-sound is excellent and picture really good-this time we did a reading of what t.v was good and gave good quality TCL came up as one of the better t.v.'s

got morn walk in

cloudy and a chilly wind today-long john weather today

dh is going to hook up the rest of the t.v. today so all pieces and parts are working.

@viva923 My sister had a bad run of luck with tires over the past 2 years. Honestly if it could go wrong it did. When she replaces each set she always buys the insurance because if anyone is gonna need it it's my sister, lol.

Thanks for the heads up on the TCL brand TV. I'm going to look them up and see if they have any dumb versions.

We had thunder here on the morning of Thanksgiving. It's supposed to follow (according to folk lore) that two weeks after thunder will be snow. Not sure we'll see that in NC, but do love this cold weather.

our thanksgiving was quiet,but nice,with us,daughter,and our late SIL'S son and wife.

our son,DIL,and grandchildren were here sat.Had a nice time. Our oldest grandchild has become transgender . He now goes as "she",has long,lovley hair,nail polish. He's always been a quiet,sweet boy. I have wondered is he was gay. She quit her job learning to be a electrician because of the verbal abuse. She should have gone to a supervisor to do something about it. Dose not matter to me I love him/her dearly. Hope you all had a good thanksgiving!

That's a shame. Would it be possible for her to train somewhere else that doesn't know her background? We need more electricians!

You're a wonderful grandma--just the kind we all need. A lot of grandparents wouldn't be so accepting.💕

Epicurean my grandaughter came out as can love men or women-there is a name for that gender but have no idea what it is-we still love our kids/grandkids no matter what.
