Greetings to all! My birthday went great today!! Lunch with my daughters and husband, and went shopping with Darla all afternoon for baby clothes etc. and only got back at suppertime, Lori and Linus had dinner ready!! Even a cake!!! Then a nice visit with family afterwards! I wasn't at the computer since this morning! God bless everyone who made my birthday so special!!

We don't choose how or when we will die, but we do decide how we will live.

Lord, forgive my frequent drifting and help me to see clearly the best path

for me.

I cannot ascertain the spiritual with my intellect. I can only do it by my
own faith and spiritual faculties. I can sometimes think of God with my
heart as well as with my head. I can breathe in God's very spirit in the
life around me. I can keep my eyes turned toward the good things in the
world. I can empty my mind of all the limitations of material things. I
can sense the eternal.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that whatever is good I may have. I pray that I may leave to God the
choice of what good will come to me.

Precious Savior, Saint Anselm actively fought against slavery in England, even getting politically involved and obtaining legislation that made it illegal to sell human beings. I ask him to intercede for people today who are enslaved in some way-in countries where slavery is still accepted, in family members and friends who are in bondage to addictions, in myself where sin has entrapped me, and in workplaces where there are people I care about who are being mistreated and made to work in illegal conditions. Lord Jesus, deliver us into the freedom You won for us on the Cross. Saint Anselm, pray for us. Amen.

SOMETIMES GOD WHISPERS

An old preacher spoke something in reply to a question from a young man, something so hushed it was indistinguishable. The young man stepped across the room. "What did you say?" he asked. The preacher repeated himself, but again in a tone as soft as a whisper. So the young man moved closer until he was leaning on the preacher's chair.

"Sorry," he said. "I still didn't hear you." With their heads bent together, the old preacher spoke once more. "God sometimes whispers," he said, "so we will move closer to hear him."

We all want God's voice to thunder through the air with the answer to our problem. But God's is the still, small voice ... the gentle whisper.

Perhaps there's a reason.

Nothing draws human focus quite like a whisper.

God's whisper means I must stop my ranting and move close to Him, until my head is bent together with His. And then, as I listen, I will find my answer.

Better still, I find myself closer to God.

And there is no better place to be.

April 21 - Jesus Calling

Let Me control your mind. The mind is the most restless, unruly part of mankind. Long after you have learned the discipline of holding your tongue, your thoughts defy your will and set themselves up against Me.
