Do any of you carry cash when shopping?

We were in a store yesterday and the woman in front of us in the line had spent $3.17 (which she had borrowed from her companion) and needed to spend $5.00 to put a few items on her Master card. Her friend either did not have the $2.00 nor did she( the customer ) have any cash. I am just curious.

Very little, just a couple of dollars, but the dollar store I frequent also has a rule of 5 mimumum to charge.

Yes I carry cash, around $100. I still use cash for paying my groceries and buying gas. The problem people have today is that saying "outta sight, outta mind". When you use plastic, be it debit or credit, you have the tendency to overspend and bust your budget. Cash is your reality check.

BTW I ran into the same issue at the grocery store. Two youngins in front of me had a total purchase of $2.71 and between the two of them they couldn't come up with the cash so she charged it.

I do. I go to the bank once a week. My husband laughs at me...until he needs cash for something.

I carry about $15 in cash in case I want to give some to the homeless I see while I'm out. Other then that, I put it on the card for rewards and tracking of my spending.

We like charging since our credit card gives us a cash rebate, so by charging we make our money work for us and we always pay it off in full so we pay no interest.

@Group 5 minus 1 I always carry cash. For me...Credit cards are just an incentive to spend more...plus accumulate interest and debt. I am down to one regular bank credit card in case of emergency. I do have a Q card, but pay it off anytime I have a balance.
I think I am in the minority though...because everyone I see shopping uses plastic. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I carry $10 cash in my wallet for donut money. A lot of local donut places are cash-only, so I give myself $10 once in a while just to get donuts. 😊🍩

Cash is King! Especially after a hurricane or an area-wide extended power outage. Something to keep in mind. I always have cash in my wallet and pay for most things with cash. The less I use a credit card, the less chance it will be compromised by thieves.

I only carry a few bucks. Always think if I get robbed or loose my wallet they won't get much from me. I actually think it's dangerous to carry large amounts of money. If I get money for a gift, I can't wait to put it in the bank & feel nervous carrying it around.

I had not carried cash since Covid started. Before that, I carried cash all of the time. Lately, because of the hurricanes, I have over $200 cash just in case we get hit by a storm.

I always have cash or my checkbook. I do not have a debit card but do have 1 credit card.

I would never charge a small amount to my credit card.

The times one of my credit cards has been compromised, the bank makes good on it very quickly. Inconvenient, but that's it. If a thief steals my purse with cash in it, that money is gone, gone, gone.

Some of us don't spend wildly just because we are carrying a credit card. I find that notion kind of funny. I use plastic for most things, get cash back on purchases that way, and pay off the balance every month. A small amount of cash goes into my wallet for tips, etc. and a much larger amount of cash is hidden at home for any weather or civil emergencies.

Until very recently I put everything on my credit card and paid it off monthly. However I had fraud on my card a few weeks ago. Since then I carry cash and unless the store I am at has a tap screen, I pay cash.

And I'm far more concerned about identity theft from using a credit card then I am about losing $100 cash from my wallet.
