Shabbat Shalom and welcome again to this inclusive thread I put up on Fridays.

I guess some of us are drying out from the storm Betty or waiting for the rain to come. I hope everyone stays safe and gets through it without any damage. We had a lot of flooding and lost some newly planted shubbery, but those can be replaced.

The streets near us have "drained off" and DH is finally able to get to his office. He stayed home for 3 days and worked on the kitchen island. He was on the phone and it rang all day, on his computer, making his coffee and snacking, leaving plates and cups around, etc. Now the weekend and 2 more days. he's a great guy, BUT this was a great test of his retirement.....Not sure it's so wonderful. Lol

Prayers to our Forum Friend @ECBG who's having a tough time and going to a care facility to get needed help to recover. We all wish you a speedy recovery and hope you're home soon to cuddle up with your beloved Shadow. Please keep in touch.

Politics? Cannot discuss it here, but just have to say I've had enough of it!!

Each week I pray for peace around the world (which is getting worse and more complicated) and especially in our own country. So sorry for the Swifties who went to Europe to see concerts that had to be canceled. OMG! What's going on with all these threats?

We have weekend plans....cleaning up outside from Betty (our son and granddaughters are coming over to help) and I'll be cleaning inside from DH's working from home. The new Blake Lively movie has started and if the theatre didn't float away, we may go on Sunday afternoon. Of course, more piles of stuff to give away or donate or boxes for garage sales. Lots of work!!

I wish everyone a safe and relaxing weekend. Find something you enjoy doing and keeps your mind active. That's so great for us as we age.

When retirement commences: There is a transition period which when downsizing on top of normal " stuff," which will be messy. DH was always " sorting " through stuff that somehow never got reduced !

It's a time for new habits to get formed as they get accustomed to the new environment: designated spaces for working, snacking, etc. as well as the need to keep size-reduced spaces neat, esp. the kitchen.

One almost laughable episode I would hear repeated often whenever I did the retirement seminars: After all these years of keeping house, he now tells me the best and proper way to load the dishwasher ! This too shall pass...

Eating routines may change: we now go out for lunch about 1 - 1:30 and therefore dinner becomes much lighter.

Enjoy this time and your new space !

Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend. I also hope the weather, etc. improves for everyone who has experienced Betty, fires, etc. Here is the Chicago area we are finally getting cooler temps and gorgeous weather into next week. It is certainly welcomed.

@Shanus I too have had enough with politics. I've got friends in both camps. I keep them MOSTLY separated!!!!!

When my dad was newly retired, mom went through the same thing lol. Hopefully, the weather will be back to normal soon and your dear hubby is able to return to work.😃

Hello everyone! I was out early this morning with appointments then stopped by my daughters for a quick visit. Home now for the day! Debby (not Betty, LOL...not picking on anyone, I thought is was cute) will be in the northeast tonight but is taking a western route, thankfully for us in RI, we are only in for some wind and 1-2 inches of heavy rain which is a typical summer thunderstorm for us. So praying for all still in her path, but it seems we will all be done with her by Saturday morning! Yay!

We are going out for dinner tomorrow evening with friends and then going out to see my cousins band after that. They are playing outside at a golf course that also has a lovely clubhouse. So happy it will no longer be raining, feels like it has been raining everyday lately. Enjoy your weekend, and yes prayers as always.

Well, I made it to Friday. I thought I was going to have to build an ark today. The MONSOON was wild, but the sun is out now. I think the storm is heading north and east for the time being. I hope you're all safe and dry.

I have been in the hubby retirement adjustment stage since June. It's an adjustment for both of us. Somedays, I find myself using my teacher voice and strategies...........and I stopped teaching in the late 90s. lol lol

This coming week and next weekend, we're having a houseful of family. I am looking forward to it.
