Unwanted Company-For Sure!!!

DH called me to our glass back door and sitting there on the horozental rail was a 5-6 foot black rat snake. It must be the reason our various bird nests have been torn up!

OMG! I would freak out to see that!

When I was about eight years old, I did see a six foot long Black Racer, but it was dead.

In my twenties, when we were mountain climbing in New Hampshire, I saw a Timber Rattler. At the top of the mountain, he was sunning himself on the rocks. Thankfully, when he heard voices, he slithered away.

I would be very happy to never see another snake, in my

lifetime. I would be afraid to go out your back door and risk

encountering your visiting snake.

I've lived in the mountains all of my life except when we were first married and DH needed the city.

We're used to about everything. My trees are full of hawk nests in the fall.

I sure don't like to see any type of snake either lol. My dad has been telling me about seeing a big black snake over where our strawberries are planted. Even though I'd much rather Ruby or I encounter this type of snake instead of a poisonous one, it still gives me the heebie jeebies!

Black snakes are the reason nothing is eating your strawberry plants. They also kill bad snakes.

I have a black racer snake that lives in the plants on the side of my house. I have seen him off and on for several years. I have not seen him this year, but I did see a shredded snake skin the other day.

I call him, my snake, I like that he is there to help control rodents. Black snakes are good. He leaves me alone and I leave him alone.

I'm not a fan of snakes at all, however, many of the snakes we have (SC) are good to have. They eat many of the things you don't want around your house - mice, rats etc.

On the other hand, finding a Copperhead in my garage is not top of my day - and it was a good size. The other one is a Water Mocassin (Cottonmouth) - I give them a wide berth.

We have rattlesnakes so anytime I see a different type of snake I am happy, I have heard different types of snakes do not coexist.

That is always sad about the birds nests.

We had one near my door. From the window I thought it was a long black hose or coil.

I've seen them before in other states too.

Our neighbor came and said oh its ok and scooted it down the hill with a stick.

Thank goodness for our neighbor!

I love all living creatures except snakes. I have had a fear of them all my life. Even went to a pet store to pet one thinking it would help overcome my fear. It did not. When out walking my pup my eyes are always alert but yesterday came upon a very large one. I shriked and got my pup out of there pronto. Did not see the tail or head but knew it was a snake. Last year a very long snake skin was draped over my decorated rocks. Several years ago I got up at dawn and found a small green snake in the middle of the floor. My Russian Blue had been out in the garage, bit the snake a million times, and then brought it it upstairs as a present. Like others, I would be more than happy never to see another

snake - I so enjoy the winters for I know they are hibernating.

When I first moved to the west coast desert, my child & I lived in an apartment for a few months while our new house was being built. One morning I opened our ground floor apartment door on my way to take my child to daycare, and 5' away was a large rattlesnake trying to get into the apartment across from ours. I was too afraid to even scream & when the office opened I called them for help. By that time, the rattlesnake disappeared.

I always wondered if the snake made it into the other apartment & was in the vents or something. I couldn't wait to move out.

Another time, I was driving home with my child in the evening, and there was a sidewinder snake moving across the road.

I detest & fear all snakes. I don't like any snake pattern clothes or accessories either; they just remind me of awful snakes.

Awww.... I am sorry for the poor birdies!❤ I have LOVED❤ snakes most of my life, and am quite comfortable handling them.🥰 I RESPECT the poisonous ones while keeping a SAFE distance, and would LOVE❤ to have seen your reptilian "visitor".😁 My dear grandmother taught me not to be afraid, but she was TERRIFIED of worms.😂
