POLL: Stupid things You've done that made U Laff?

Have you ever done something so silly/stupid, it made you laugh?

Like take a shower with your glasses on and not realize it until you tried to wash your hair or face.

Several times I have asked my kids to help me find my glasses and of course they're on top of my head.

This is not something I did but my mother when she was living with me. When I got out of the shower one morning my daughter (who was visiting from CA) was frantically going through the trash piece by piece looking for my mother's bottom denture that she said she lost (they were in her mouth).

I have gotten into the shower with my bra on!! There are many, many stupid things I have done but the shower one refreshed that incident. I'm sure I will think of more!

Last week I heard the phone ring, looked at caller ID and saw the last call was from a friend so immediately called her back. She swore she hadn't called me. A few minutes later I realized the TV was on Pit bulls and Parolèes, and their phone is identical to mine and sounds the same. The ringing was on TV.

Stupid, yes. Make me laugh? Not until I figured out what I had done, and luckily was able to rectify my stupidity. Fortunately only 2 of us knew what I did.

I called the Hewlett-Packard tech support line years ago (back when Americans actually answered the phone) with a question that I realized soon after I asked it was beyond stupid, but I can't remember exactly what my question was.

Therefore, I will offer my mother up as Idiot Of The Day. A full-blooded first-generation Italian-American, she actually put shells WITH THE RICOTTA CHEESE IN THEM into a pot to boil in water when I was little. I am a horrible cook, but even as a child I knew that this made no sense. As you can imagine, the "stuffed shells" came out totally waterlogged and NOT TASTY. Her mother, who arrived on our shores from Naples when she was 6, wasn't much of a cook either. For a quite a few years, she made a terrifyingly large number of bundt cakes for us to eat. Oddly, these cakes tasted much like the entrees she cooked. I admit that I can't figure it out. She did make an excellent fruit cake at Christmas (unless she bought it), and to this day I love a good fruit cake.

I've long said that great cooks are born, not made. Could the inability to cook be genetic? If I had a boatload of $$$, the answer to this question wouldn't give me pause.

Back when we used to entertain and have folks over for dinner, I was sitting with our company and having a glass of wine. About the time to take the roast out of the oven, I realized I had never turned the oven on. It was a very, very late dinner that night !!!

Well, the most recent stupid thing I did was today. My LEFT knee hurts a lot. I'm trying to postpone knee replacement with acupuncture and a brace. After church today, I changed my clothes and put the brace on.................... the RIGHT knee. I couldn't believe I had done it, and it took some time with all the velcro pads and straps. SIGH

I was running late for a doctor's appointment and was hitting every red light between here and there. The last corner I needed to turn before his office that had a light I just missed hitting it while it was still green. As I approached it and it turned yellow I started hitting my garage door opener. That was a few years ago and what in God's name possessed me to think I could keep it from turning red with a garage door opener so I could make it around that corner is still beyond me to this day. That must have been the first sign my mind was going!

A long, long time ago, I once went through a Hardee's drive through where I ordered at the first window. At the 2nd window, I dutifully paid and said "thank you" and drove all the way home without waiting to be handed my food! I didn't realize what I had done until I got home. My ADD got the best of me that day! LOL

One time I was talking on my cell phone to my brother, I was looking all over the house and finally my husband says what are you looking for so I said my darn cell phone. Mind you we don't have a house phone, so hubby says oh I see who are you talking to on your phone I said my brother are you going to help me look or not. Well he kept asking me the same question who are you talking to now I'm mad looking all over the place my brother now is laughing my husband is taunting me then I had that light bulb moment. I went into the wrong bank to withdraw money from my account. I kept insisting I had an account there and pulled out my checkbook to show them. They looked at my checks and told me I was at the wrong bank. I was so embarrassed. I think that was the beginning of my menopause fuzz brain.

As I was beding forward to close the lid on a hige cooler I locked my boob in the cooler. I kept yelling ooooowwww, as I pushed harder to close lid. Then I figured, Oh, it's MY boob in the cooler..that's why I am in pain! oweeee!. My granddaughter was 8 at the time and she still brings it up, and laughs.

About 20 years ago, I had a couple of work friends stop by my house. My neighbor from across the street also stopped over. After a while, we all decided to go out for a drink. We all went outside and got into my car, but the neighor wasn't there. I ran back inside my house thinking I must have locked him in. He had gone home to change. I don't know why I thought he wouldn't be able to get out of the house.

More recently, I was walking down my hallway to go into the bathroom. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and turned my head for a quick glance but kept walking, and walked right into the closed bathroom door and hit my nose hard enough to leave a visable bruise.
