Shabbat Shalom and welcome to our Friday thread. All are invited here to share plans, sorrows, activities or no activities planned for the weekend.

We have some family coming in for semi-reunion tomorrow morning. This branch of the family is only 3 hrs. away while most of my family is in NY or FL. I'm doing lunch here since DS's house is not big enough. Wegman's is doing the cooking and we pick up the rotisserie chickens, sides and desserts early tomorrow. Grateful no one's staying overnight since we've already taken the upstairs bedrooms apart getting closer to downsizing.

With antisemitism on the rise ( never leaves), we're not going to Temple tonite. I always pray for world peace, but it seems to be a far off dream.

I am sorry your decision to go to Temple is impacted by such senseless hate. I'll never understand this.

As many of you have been reading, I've been hunting for Morel Mushrooms or Hickory Chickens as they're known around here, which grow wild and are only in Season from mid April til about the first week in May.

Unfortunately, I haven't been lucky so far, because I haven't found a single one. However, I have taken my phone with me and luckily found a lot of beautiful wildflowers and herbs I didn't know grew around my house and property.

Im so thankful for all of you kind ladies. May tonight and this weekend bring many blessings to each and everyone. I care about ALL of YOU!❤️

It truly breaks my heart that anyone would be apprehensive to go to their place of worship.

@Shanus it's sad and upsetting that the rampant rise of antisemitism is driving your decision to not go to Temple tonight. I was brought up with an emphasis on religion but I've only been inside a synagogue a few times since childhood. I love and am proud of who I am and my history though I don't participate outwardly. Not much of a religious person. Today's tense times caused me to remove my last name from my condo apartment's group mail boxes in case someone with hate in their heart assumes my religion by my name. Mail carrier goes by unit number anyway so name not really needed.Did that early this year. I'm not afraid, just doing what I think is the smart thing to do.

This is so sad. I hate to be a downer but this should not be happening.
My brother and SIL have been worried sick about their granddaughter in college for the same last name reason. They (along with her parents) can't wait till the school year comes to an end and she is home for the summer.
On a positive note she said she has not seen or experienced any negativity as of yet...hope it stays that way.

Thank you @Shanus for starting us off today. I am so sorry as we all are that anti-Semitism is again rearing it's ugly self. I continue to pray for this world to co-exist in peace. Our future generations need to be rid of this hate.

We are preparing for Passover. A small family gathering for us but plenty of delicious food for sure! But above all, we remember and honor the traditions.

It's so hurtful, disturbing and angering that you don't feel safe going to your house of worship, or @PhilaLady1 feels the need to take her name off her mailbox. It's just all so wrong.

It's beginning to look like spring here in central NY. Cherry tree flowers are blooming, spring flowers are blooming.......it's beautiful.

I hope you all have a good week ahead. Friday will be here before we know it.

My prayers are for peace, that common sense prevails, and for treating others the way you want to be treated.

I'm Jewish but my DH is Irish and was raised Catholic so I have an Irish last name now. My other Jewish friends are also afraid of their names being out there....one never knows what strangers are thinking and how they may react.

We are living in very sad and frightening times right now and I fear it will get worse before it gets better.

Niemöller filled in the blanks differently as world events changed over time. I might fill them in one way, while someone else here might fill them in another way.

What's unfortunate is that the quote can still be relevant today and blanks continue to be filled in.

I received an email from my alma mater. A university in Northern California. Because of the violence and destruction this week, they were forced to close the campus.

I do not recognize this place.
