Help - need your advise!

I took my grandchildren to the Children's Museum and at the end of the day, they wanted get something from the gift shop. My granddaughter picked up something called "Thinking Putty".- similar to silly putty. I should have paid better attention to the small print on the label...anyway, unknown to me, she had it in her hand when she fell asleep and it melted and adhered to the blanket and the comforter. I scraped off what I could, but have a collosal mess on my hands. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts as to what I can use to remove it? I sure would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Oh boy...sounds like a mess! Can you 'freeze' that portion of the affected material and then scape if off or get it warm with an iron and maybe freezer paper or wax paper and scrape...good luck!

"Rubbing alcohol is, hands down, THE BEST Thinking Putty solvent. Liberal amounts of rubbing alcohol and friction will help remove Thinking Putty and most of its colorants from pretty much anything. In our experience, you should be able to remove most, if not all, of the putty plus any color using our rubbing alcohol method."

Seriously wow that would of been my frist guess I am finding that rubbing alchohol is great for cleaning things, including stainless steel

@I am still oxox, Since you posted part of the info, I'll add more of it for clarification in case someone doesn't go to the link, since they have specific recommendations about the alcohol.

"First, remove as much of the putty as possible from the surface yourself. You don't have to go crazy scraping, but you don't want a thick blob attached to the clothes either. Remember that putty sticks to putty very well. Use a small lump that you've scraped off to pick the remaining putty away by dabbing at it with the lump of putty.

Next, if the affected clothes are a natural fabric like cotton, linen, wool, or hair, we recommend using Rubbing Alcohol to remove the rest of the Thinking Putty.

Use Rubbing Alcohol (the greatest percent Isopropyl Alcohol you can find--99% is ideal) from the drugstore.

Some people will purchase antiseptic ethyl rubbing alcohol. This is NOT effective. We hear that people have read online to use ice, the freezer, WD-40, etc. Please use rubbing alcohol for the most effective putty remover.

Do a spot test first on a non-visible part of fabric to ensure the alcohol will not cause further damage. Liberally pour the rubbing alcohol onto the affected area. The Thinking Putty should liquefy and become easily removed with a paper or cloth towel.

If your Thinking Putty has adhered to a synthetic fabric such as nylon or polyester, Rubbing Alcohol may damage the fabric. In this case, try WD-40 to loosen the Thinking Putty and remove it from the surface.

If all else fails, take your garment to the dry cleaners and let them know your stain is silicone based..."

I'll venture a guess: anything you use to get dryed on candle wax would probably work - ice, freezing, stuff they sell for that w/scraper (forgot name) or a steam iron on low with a rage of the item just enough to soften it - guess anything's worth a try at this point!
