So. Cal residents

I am in So. Cal. also and hoping everyone is staying safe in this atmospheric river condition we are all experiencing. I'm in Ventura County and we've had days and days of heavy rain. Just had another heavy downpour for about an hour. I feel so sorry for the residents that are experiencing mudslides and flooded homes. I hope it goes away soon. Stay safe everyone!

@WORKING GAL I'm a 75 year old transplant from my beloved So. Cal. My son and his family live in Redondo Beach and are not having any problems. Lots of rain but not nearly as much as in other locales.

@WORKING GAL I live in SoCal, north county San Diego. We have had lots of rain but nothing to cause any issues. Whenever we get more rain than the average it gets a little hyped up. Yes, some areas aren't faring as well but that's due to homes/buildings built in old river beds. In addition, some people just don't follow the signs that say "flooded", "Road Closed" and "do not drive through". Then of course, they do.

This is not meant to diminish the areas that are harder hit. I have watched the news and most areas are doing okay but they do like to show the worst areas.

I live in Arizona and all they do is keep hyping this storm. So far all we've had is a few light showers. So disappointing. We need the rain. Not buckets but it would be nice if we got a couple of inches.

I also live in Southern California. Luckily I live in an area that is not affected by floods or brush fires. Three days of rain so far and I am hoping it will end soon.

I've seen the news reports on this and feel bad for the devastation caused by this weather. It's crazy.

I’m in the Inland Empire and we are not in an old flood zone or on a hill and we have sandbags. Without them the water on the backyard and patio would be in the house. The yard is a lake.

I'm in the Greater Los Angeles area and we've been lucky.

A few surprisingly giant puddles .... but pretty much everything coming down rolls away and into the drainage system.

I'm also in Ventura County (Moorpark). I think the rain stopped for an hour or 2 late this morning but we've had consistent rain (heavy at times) all afternoon. We had 2 inches of rain in one day last week & over 3 I think so far this week. Thankfully no mudslides or flooding.

However, my dog would like to have sun for a few hours a day so she can go potty; she absolutely refuses to go in the rain. Every few hours, I open the patio door, she sticks her nose out, sniffs & hears the rain, & then runs into the living room, burying herself on the sofa.

I live in the San Gabriel Valley area, we've had a downpour for 3 days but nothing damaging like mudslides, massive street floodings, fallen down trees or power outages (thank goodness) as one poster mentioned the news media hypes things up and only shows the areas badly hit with this atmospheric river storm. I hope everyone affected by this storm be safe and sound.

@Eleanor55- Hi neighbor! Although it is still partly sunny with clouds now increasing, it was nice to see the sun. Rain coming early this evening but nothing like we've experienced. The atmospheric river has moved East! Hopefully we won't have to worry about drought conditions this summer. Dallas Raines on KABC said yesterday that by the end of the month we'll see more rain. Moorpark is a nice area, my daughter graduated from Moorpark College and went on to graduate from CSUN. She loved Moorpark and changed her major and wound up with 3 degrees from there. I visited the campus and thought it was very nice. We're in Simi Valley since 1972 when there were groves of Orange trees and when you came down the 118 you could smell the orange blossoms. Not so much anymore. Stay safe.

I am in LA County as well. Yesterday I texted a family member if we get any more rain, I will need to borrow my uncle's kayak!!! Yes, today is windy and we are due for more rain tonight but I am grateful for the brief respite. The rain did soak in so we have some puddles but not too bad. Also, according to alot of people, One downside is alot of newly created potholes...

@WORKING GAL - I actually saw blue sky today when I walked my dog. It was so nice to see although it didn't last long. By the way, I always giggle when I hear Dallas Raines's name; perfect for a meteorologist. I lived in Simi 1990-2004. My first house, which turned out to be my favorite. Memories. Here's hoping the ground is able to absorb all the rain we've had before more comes.
