Real or artificial Christmas Tree?

My DH and I have always gotten a real tree. We went to the usual tree farm yesterday to pick out our tree. It cost us $108.76 for 6ft. tree. The prices have increased substantially each year. Last year we paid $80.00 for a 6t tree. So we decided to purchase a 6.5 ft. classic Blue Spruce tree from Balsam Hill.

That's a beautiful tree! I still haven't got mine put up. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish up in the living room & tackle it Tuesday.

I'm a tree hugger. I find the tradition of cutting down a live tree, decorating it in your home as it dies, then throwing it out at the curb for garbage pickup, highly disturbing. Artificial only for me.

My tree is Artificial and is 7 1/2 feet tall. It's also lightly flocked

I purchased a 5 ft tree from Balsam Hill years ago and have never been sorry. Congrats on your purchase! It looks beautiful.

We haven't had a real tree in about 25 years. At first because we had a cat who liked to strip the tree of ornaments. Then real trees got super expensive. In our former home, we had multiple trees so artificial was the way to go.

We have an artificial pre-lit flocked tree. I love it. It's full and beautiful and has so many lights on it. I can't imagine having to deal with brown, falling needles and having to water it and then getting rid of it year after year - not to mention stringing lights on it. Everyone mentions the smell of a fresh tree, but I'm not fond of the smell.

I've always thought it would be so much fun for a family with kids to get a permit (about $10) to cut a tree in one of the national forests that surround my area, and go out and cut their own. Just driving through them, I see many beautiful potential Christmas trees.

We have always done the artificial trees, much less upkeep and they last a long time. When we downsized so did our 10 foot tree, LOL! We bought a Balsam Hill at the end of the year on sale for our new townhouse. It's a gorgeous 6 foot tree (I did one without the lights, just in case I have to replace any) and let me tell you, they are getting more and more realistic looking, I love mine

We have had an artificial tree for thirty seven years. It is for several reasons. First of all the real trees are so expensive here in CO. then I am allergic to the greenery and the last reason is because we put our tree up at Thanksgiving and it is nice that we don't have to worry about keeping it alive. Our tree looks real and the one you bought is beautiful!!

Artificial only for me. My condo association doesn't allow real trees due the fire risk.

Artificial tree. We could have a 10 foot tree here lol with the vaulted ceilings but ours is 4 foot. When I was a child we went out to a tree farm and got a tree a few times. There were reindeer there too. It was magical.

I didn't want to drag out the artificial tree. It's not lightweight. I am waiting for delivery of a pull up tree that's already decorated. It collaspes to look like a wreath. It's 6 ft. I don't know how bad or good it will look. It won't look like the OP's tree though. That's a pretty tree.

I too have a 5 1/2 ft tree from Balsam Hill. So easy, no cleanup and don't have to worry about it drying up. No rush to take it down because it becomes a fire hazard. Also my kitties don't even bother it unlike a real tree where they would probably go nuts.

I have a 7.5 ft artificial tree. Only kind I will have. It's safer and cleaner, and I won't accidentally bring home an unwanted critter that's hiding in the tree.

Only real trees for our family. We go out to the Christmas tree farm, cut our tagged tree, a 9 footer and bring it back home. Put it in the tree stand and then have hot chocolate or hot cider. Maybe when we are in our 80’s or 90’s we will get a fake tree. But not any time soon. Cutting our own is too much fun. We much prefer real Christmas trees.
