Dry Ice?

Has anyone used dry ice for shipping food items? I have a friend that is stressing over shipping from the midwest to Florida...she hopes to ship in the next few weeks.

Around here she can not find dry ice - the local grocery used to carry blocks of dry ice but no longer carry the product. She did look on amazon that is where she saw the sheets for sale.

...any advice/recommendations appreciated.

Walmart here used to have it but haven't bought any lately. Check commercial ice suppliers.

@Mz iMac Dry ice also comes in sheets.

She can purchase from Amazon - 1st choice is local but when she went to purchase they no longer carried the product.

Everything I receive that requires being kept cold comes with the frozen gel packs now. Freeze them, then put in the package and they keep the contents cold.

I keep them and use them in the hot weather to put in my cooler when I buy groceries. Very handy.

I can't remember the last time I had anything come in dry ice.

They also sell styrofoam shipping coolers.

They sell cheap styrofoam ice chests at Walmart. You could cut it apart to line your shipping box plus add some of those gel packs @geezerette mentioned after they have been frozen. They will stay frozen longer with the styrofoam.

I can get those from a friend that works in the lab at the hospital. They get stuff in all the time with the gel packs.
