The maintenance never ends

Monday it was mani/pedi. Tuesday it was my retina specialist appt. Wednesday it was teeth cleaning. Nothing scheduled for today but tomorrow I have an appoina,tment with the glaucoma specialist and a blood draw for my endocrinologist. No issues. All routine follow ups. My 79 year old bff said this is the life of the older woman who takes care of her health and her body. We retire and then we spend our time on body/health maintenance. I laughed when she said that but later I checked my calendar for next week. Tuesday I get my brows upper lip waxed. Thursday it's a knee x-ray because I want a steroid injection in my right knee. They need the X-ray before the visit. Friday I have a hair appointment. Cut/trim but now I'm thinking I want color. I think an auburn shade. Something different.

When I read this I thought...how fortunate you are to be able to take such exquisite care of yourself and Auburn sounds like it would be beautiful!😉

When I read this I was thankful that I am "low maintenance" and have no need to go to any doctor.

You know what you are right.! I am 79 and everyday there is something planned, dental.,hair , bld work , gym! Today just resting bc got the latest covid booster yesterday and little sore and tired. I do feel fortunate that healthy and friends also!😊

Other than daily cardio and my color and cut every 8 weeks that it is it for me on maintenance. So far blessed with only Dr. and Dentist appt. every 6 months.

But who knows what is around the corner and turning 62 in a couple of months.

As an individual with several chronic health issues, I can relate. I'm used to all the health maintenance because I've been going to lots of doctors and specialists since I was a child. A few weeks ago, I had a haircut, dental checkup, lab work, and doctor appointment all in the same week.

Hope you get to spend a few days relaxing at home or doing what you want. 🍁

At first glance I thought the thread was about home ownership...which in fact maintenance really never ends.

I am very lucky at 68 as far as my health is concerned...no health issues, I take no medication and I quit colorling my hair the first of the year. The only thing on my calendar is the yearly mammogram in another week.

@Venezia @Mom2Dogs I thought the same thing because I think @chrystaltree owns a townhouse or condo and the maintenance never ends. There is always something.

I would never think of maintenance that way but some do it seems like. I always look good, and very, very clean. That's all I need and I am very happy and have a heart of gold.

@Mom2Dogs my yearly mammogram is schedule for Sat Nov 4th. Here's wishing you the best results possible.

@Venezia I like what you said and I certainly agree. If I ever need that much maintenance, I'll know I look horrible.

@chrystaltree I have nothing against what you are doing. Do what ever makes you happy. Wish you didn't have to go through all the medical stuff.

I thought so too. I'm having the front trim of the house painted this week and I'm waiting for the washer repair guy to come....I'm wondering if he's still going to show up?...as a matter of fact he just came.....

It's' never ending stuff!

ETA: It's after 8 and he just left. He needs to get a part and if we're lucky he will be able to pick it up tomorrow and come over to install it.

The medical stuff can be exhausting. I'm 63 but I developed several chronic conditions beginning in my 50s. I'm thankful and grateful that there was a surgery or medication for all of it but the visits, PT, meds go on and on. Obviously I'm whining and venting...lol. I think because this week and next week, I have a lot of "stuff" to take care of. My quarterly "maintenance".

Oh I LOVE taking care of myself. I'm a girly girl, always will get regular haircuts, color, highlights. I have always said that I will never turn gray. Nope. I am trim,I walk twice every day. Sure I take care of my health, who wouldn't? We are given one chance and I expect to make the most of it.

Won't go on about my medical appts. In between, I get the maintenance done. I am doing my own nails (trimmed and filed), hair color (I like the shades I choose), facials (I do them myself). Getting teeth cleaned and maintained and hair cut is about the only maintenance jobs I go and get done. Hygiene is important to me.

I also thought this was about Home Maintenance. My mantra to first time home buyers, is that it's more than just the mortgage payment. You have to consider upkeep as well.

I am 56 and I went through a six month period of feeling as if my body was falling apart with all of the different doctors appointments.

It has finally slowed down again. I am just acupuncture for my back every other week, and Dentist appointment every 4 months.

I like the slower pace.

Of course I get a Spa Pedicure every three weeks, and my hair done every 6 weeks, but I enjoy those appointments.

I don't like the word maintenance when it comes to people. For some reason I can't think of a word to describe it. My brain is on vacation.

With maintenance I think of tuning up a vehicle, rotating your tires, giving it an oil change or doing maintenance on your house. It just seems too harsh, but I understand it.

My days are filled with a lot of health related items - doctor visits, chiropractor, tests, procedures, trips to the pharmacists, etc., etc., etc. Also, DH's things which are similar. I don't have much of a social calendar these days - unfortunately. My calendar is filled with these kind of things! I get disgusted and at times depressed, but I keep trying to remember that I should be grateful --- at least I'm still here! As far as appointments for beauty maintenance -- I don't have much of them. I go for an occasional hair trim. I rarely get my brows done. That's about it.
