Arts and Crafts show and tell thread

Hi QVC's Among Friends Forum,

I made a post recently on the QVC's forum suggestions page asking for a QVC community Arts and Crafts Show and Tell thread and thanks to the interest from different posters, I've decided to create this thread for people to share photos of their arts and crafts projects. @NYCLatinaMe @geezerette @haddon9 @Kachina624 @PA Mom-mom @mspatmac here's the thread link and here are some images of my watercolor paintings as promised . I look forward to seeing your favorite art projects, QVC forum members!

@SportyShorty07 Beautiful work! I love the first painting...it's very well done!

I used to paint signs and sell them on Etsy. I have a lot of pictures in a file on my old computer (which has been saved but I'm not good at figuring out how to bring images over). I stopped making them in 2020.

For the last year and a half I have been working on making felting items. It's learning process like most things. I had never done it before but it's lots of fun picking out the different colors of roving wool.

Here is a small tabe runner that I made for over the holidays.

ETA: I will have to learn how to get my photos & files organized on my current computer...sorry if some can't see the image.

I wish I could see your pictures. I only see a tiny square. I don't know why that happens and some can see it.

Love the paintings @SportyShorty07 ! How long have you been painting? Do you ever sell any of your paintings?

Here is my contribution. Earlier this spring I ordered the Stan Herman TSV caftan. A few days later my order was backordered. Annoyed, I cancelled. Alas. But I really wanted a new caftan. So I ordered some fabric, a cotton French terry, which is admittedly a bit heavy for a caftan, but what what the heck, it's comfy. I used an old Joan Rivers caftan for a pattern. And after an evening of work, and for nearly the same price as the Stan Herman TSV, I got my caftan.

It's a bit wrinkled as I've been wearing it. And I'm not a good photographer. But here it is.

@on the bay That's very weird! I really don't know the reason myself. I'm not computer savy so for me to get a photo posted is an accomplishment! I just compied & pasted the image and I saw it post.

Maybe the image would show up on a different browser? I have no idea.....

ETA: I just tried adding the photo using Chrome but I only see a small dot rather than an image. Yet it shows up on the Brave browser...

Watercolor is my favorite medium, I also really like to do acrylic painting and illustrations with colored pencils. @haddon9 Thank you so much ! The first painting is of my lovely 10 month old prayer plant. I entered this piece it into the De Young Museum open call for artists contest- if its selected, it will be in the De Young Museum for a few months! Your felted holly table runner is gorgeous! I love the cheery bright red berries and the little lines you created on the leaves and your 3-D sculptural holly felt is so well done too! Also- I learned in posting photos on here theat above where it says "Font sizes" in writing a post, look at the little photo icon square that's 2 tothe right of the "happy face" icon- click that to post a photo from your computer, that way it will ensure that your photos are visible to emmbers. I hope that helps, it took me a while to figure out .

@AuntMame Thank you so much for your kind words ! I've been painting since I was a little girl- I'm 34 now and I went to art high school and art university. I've never sold my paintings, but I do give them as gifts to my family members and friends. I'm looking into selling my work in the future if I create a series. I'm illustrating a book that I plan to self-publish and sell this year. Gorgeous work on your caftan!! I love the tropical print and the soft colors- this is a really pretty caftan and I bet you wear it with happiness and pride in the fact that you made it yourself. @Dusty1 Thank you so much ! I really love to paint in watercolors, its relaxing for me.

@SportyShorty07 Good luck with the contest!! Fingers crossed that you get to have your piece displayed in the museum! That would be very exciting! Afer being on Etsy for 10 years I realized that for many artists there the way to make money is to make prints of your illustrations and sell a lot! I hope your book works out for you too!

I still have a lot to learn as far as posting photos and organizing them. I had a method with my old computer when I had my Esty shop but now I'm on a different computer and need to make the effort to simply organize photos into different folders, etc. I need to do that same with my phone as well!

I love working on the felting projects. I have been taking a class with a wonderful group of women!....it's sort of like therapy since we all have a great time chatting while working on our projects once a week....It's off for the summer but I plan on signing up again in Sept.

I worked at getting them posted....it was a challenge for me! LOL! I just don't know what I am doing but I am determined to learn how to get my photos organized in a folder, etc.

I also love your prayer plant watercolor It is very gentle and soothing. I can tell you love your plant too!

Is the second picture of jellyfish?

That is really imaginative-so pretty too!

I know the third is ginger and onions am I right?

I used to do watercolor and acrylics.

But when my 3 kids were young it wasn't too relaxing. I had an art show at the mall once and made $30!

I spent $200 on supplies haha.

But I was thrilled when someone wanted one

I had an incredible art teacher once who could get anyone to draw or paint anything. He told us to make our instrument part of our eye from what I could remember.

Of course I don't remember any of it now. But it was very enjoyable at the time.

I think your watercolors are lovely and I wouldn't say that unless I felt that. I'm kind of picky too!

I congratulate you!

I did it once with prompting and instructions but don't think I could do it again.

And I was just thinking the other day, I don't want to hear the words folder or file again lol!

I can be good at some things and not at others. So many things to learn and I can't or don't want to learn them all. But I bet you will get this because it is important to you.
