I remember getting annoyed when I was young when my Mom would ask me to call her when I got home.

She's gone now and what I wouldn't give to hear that request from her again.

I don't know how my parents put up with me sometimes.

Yes, indeed. Love can be expressed in many ways. We are native New Englanders. My husband's ancestors emigrated from rural Scotland. We are reserved. We just don't throw the love word around the way some people do. It's expressed in the many ways that really matter.

Of course, the people being raised today in New England don't have to be raised like the people in Scotland were raised. That would just be "programming", right? They can be taught to be more open and loving.

Nothing is stopping that from happening.

Certainly, words can be empty without actions.

Yet the words posted clearly show love and concern and who is to say when somebody uses any of them that they also do not use actions?

A nice reminder that words can stand alone just as actions can stand alone; and just sometimes the two together are also nice.

The fact that people say these things are actions demonstrating how much they care. Speaking is an action. If they didn't care, they would not say anything.

@Foxxee Agree again. It's seems some like to look for the negative in anything for whatever reason.

If I offer a loved one concern he/she may be hungry, it's not like I'm going to just walk away if they say "yes" and not make something to eat for them.

My DH and I do not say I love you probably enough in words... but, we do express I love you in things we do. Little things like him putting a blanket over me when I am taking a nap... or me putting out his vitamins each day for him... I could go on and on. I think actions speak more than words. But, it is also important to SAY I love you. I need to work on that.
