Went Shopping Yesterday

My friend Jennifer and I do lunch often and then usually go sopping afterwards. Yesterday we went to Marshall's, not too many folks there, I don't usually pay attention to others in stores when I'm there. I know they are there but I again, pay attention but not too much. I know who's near me.

Anyway, if you love cashmere sweaters this is the time of year to check out all that are at Marshall's. The styles are some that you'll never find anywhere else, the colors are stunning. it's alway 2-ply same as we may find here in IM cashmere but certainly not at all IM nor qvc prices. I've been know to buy not one but two of them most every year. I love a great cashmere sweater, yesterday of course there were great ones, I found the one and only periwinkle gorgeous color, this one a simple crew neck, slits on the side for $59.00, Put in in my cart immediately (no one was getting THIS one!)., The most pricey was only $99.00, a v-neck button-down, pockets, soft beige, lovely. There was another stand-alone in a nice olive/pea green, shawl color pullover, just lovely. Loved the color of this one, if it had been less than $99, it would be here instead of there still!!!!

Speaking of sweaters, it seems I have a method to my madness when I shop at Marshall's - as well cashmere, it seems this fall/winter I'm into sweater vests, really cool ones, some just basic in design and color, others yesterday that are soft in fabric and great colors albeit pastels, brighter autumnal, argyle prints. I found lots and bought 4. Got home, took the tags off, took off my Graver liquid knit cardi and put on another version of a soft periwinkle with a nice cable knit front and a soft mock/almost true turtleneck collar. Lovely, love the color, the style, wore it in the house the rest of the afternoon/eve until I put my jams on for the night!!! I love all of my picks, SCORE at Marshall's! Spent $169 for 5 sweaters, and a couple of other items (one was a black truffle oil, dark choc cashews, to name a few) and they always have great large plastic bags with FUN designs on your way out to check out all in another new bag to use at Aldi's when I'm there!!!!

You got some very nice things! Enjoy! I personally love Marshall's! I could spend hours there. I love that they have such a variety of things. I always come out with many nice treats. Your sweaters sound amazing!

The only good thing about winter in my opinion are new sweaters!!!!

@PINKdogWOOD Watch that bag! I put a cute used bag in my Publix cart this week and turned my back on it while I talked to the pharmacist very briefly. Gone!

It's pretty sad to think someone needs to steal something so inconsequential to many of us. I have other bags and could afford to buy more, but I really liked that one.

@AngelPuppy1 I totally agree with you 110% - we also spend hours there looking at everything. I never leave without buying some fun items. They have great fashions, tons of designer labels at way better prices here. I could have picked up a few more sweaters (including that $99 chashmere!!!), they also had some great woven long sleeve plaid blouse, almost had two in my cart but opted not. I've been known to keep items in my head and go back for them anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so much more enjoy marshall's over kohl's and target - better deals, more items to check out, try on, BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice haul! But the problem with Marshall's is that they aren't all created equally. You can go into one Marshall's and see amazing merchandise and go into another and zilch...nothing but off season discounted stuff.

this is the time when TJ/Marshalls has the made in Italy shoes/ sweaters coats all lovely and priced well, don't pass them up if you like them

TOTAL BUMMER @millieshops on the thieves among us right??????? Why oh why..... I'd also most definitely say to the Ladies, this is a good reason why we DO NOT put our purses in our carts to turn our backs for a brief moment only to find it gone by some thief close by stalking us.

Never thought of my bags that I take into Aldi's when I grocery shop there. Actually, I don't do this anymore, I'll wheel my cart to my car and load them in bags there. I watch my back there too, I don't need a 'bump' on the head while some stranger wheels my goods to their car and drive off.

Be careful out there folks, there are unfortunately bad things that happen even at the grocery store!

You scored great deals.
I don't need any clothes right now, and I don't have the patience to look thru all the racks of clothing at stores like Marshall's or TJ Maxx.

I like these stores for household items. Homegoods is my favorite among the TJX stores.

@chrystaltree My store is close by, yes there are others in town but I stick to what's close to me. This store is huge, all sorts of stuff there, and the stuff is always really good!

We used to have a FAB TJMaxx here close to me, holy shopping trip Batman, I used to go there ALL the time, dressed myself for work garb ALL the time! It was great, HUGE, TONS and TONS of great things.

Now it's joined with Home Goods, I hate it now. The one i shopped at isn't even there anymore, moved it and joined up with HG. I don't even go there anymore. BUMMER!

Congrats on your great buys! I read recently in one of the retail newsletters that the big stores -- like Nordstrom's, Macy's, Target, etc.etc. have overbought their soft goods, and much of it will go to discount places. TJ Maxx and Marshall's and Tuesday Morning were particularly cited as the beneficiaries of the goods. As will we shoppers.

I love to read stories of great finds bargain shopping.

Alas, being retired for so many years, I have enough sweaters for a village. Last year I bought three Fair Isle sweaters, which have obviously come back i to style. I always loved that style and struggle not to buy more. While I do love the many sweaters I have, this style is my “go to” for now. I guess I am am typical “New England sweater lover.”

There are times I wish I could wear sweaters but it just doesn't get cold enough in Arizona (maybe for a few hours in the morning and again at night) to wear them much. I would only get a few days a year out of them or I would have to change into something cooler by 10:00.

The opposite for me. The two closest to me rarely have any quality merchandise. My friends and I would go into Boston to shop at the big GOOD Marshall's that was near Newbury St. But that was a year or two before Covid. I don't know if that one is still open.

@PINKdogWOOD I had my purse stolen years ago - late 60's. I had gone for for groceries after dark on a Friday night. In those years I was still paying in cash but the thief didn't know that and accosted me as I put things into my trunk. Very little monetary loss, but the paperwork and the subsequent fear were both bad.

All these years later, some of that fear is back - first because I know the percentage of thieves around us has increased, but I also know my own alertness is less acute as I've aged.

The only purse I take shopping has to be crossbody and zipped shut, but I know I never gave a thought to a used bag.

All enjoy your purchases

I live in a small town. Only TJMAXX and Beall's outlet.
No Marshall's, no HG. Only those mentioned and Walmart and Belk. That's IT.
And we have more than towns around me. Us and small towns around me have to drive 1hr+ away to find more. Our Tjmaxx has some good beauty stuff & home things but shoes and clothes, not so much. Especially plus size. I'm xl-1x and just nothing much there. Jewelry and bags are nice. Of course this store is jam packed with ppl every day of the week. I've went on a Tues round lunch and lines were backed up to the middle of the store.
No thanks if I don't really need anything, just casual shopping.
But gosh there's this necklace there that I don't really need but really WANT and I'm trying to figure out how to give a hint to family members that I want it lol. When i go back in there and it's gone my feelings will be hurt lol.

I have so much jewelry it's just my lustful eyes.
Big chunky green and turquoise shade semi precious stones ooh la la

@PamfromCT Me too - tons to clothe a village!!! And yet I buy more, but I purge through too for giveaways. I didn't used to buy many sweaters, all my girlfriends always had/have great ones.

Many years ago the Q used to have strictly all sweater shows with various vendors called "A Stitch in Time". They had all sorts of styels, colors, great prices too. I decided to start buying up sweaters, had a nice collection. Then straight from Florence Italy, they introduced us to Ms Gabriella T with the most stunning sweaters. I bought a few of her's too, still hve one or two that I still love and wear.

It is said “The way to enjoy life is to love many things.” Life is short, as I can attest. Nothing wrong to treating yourself to a piece of jewelry you love. You will have it and enjoy it forever.

No disrespect because I know your post was sincerely meant but for me the way to enjoy life is to have what I need, to be thankful for every little thing and be a good steward of the money the Good Lord gives me. Sometimes it's good just to realize that I don't have to have everything I want.
