Overheard in a Walmart parking lot:

Ok, so I was chillin' in the freezing car literally last night, while dh went inside for a few items. A couple of Walmart employees came out to have a smoke break near our car, and I couldn't help but overhear this angry perplexed guy's tale of woe to his co-worker:

"...so when I told her that I didn't want to talk about our relationship & that I was seeing another girl, she told me to pack my bags & get out by Monday, dude! I told her it was too soon to talk about our relationship, because my divorce isn't even final yet--how unreasonable is THAT?! I didn't get any credit for being honest with her for asking another girl out on a date, & she said I couldn't stay with her anymore. This divorce is wiping out my wallet, dude--she's a cold one, making me get out now!"

I was looking around for the Candid Cameras. Wow. Really? He sounded so disgusted with this 'unreasonable' girlfriend.

The only thing he is good for is helping people feel better if they are single & lonely, because it would be far worse to be with someone like That. I feel so badly for women who have such low self esteem that they would put up with someone like that in order to fool themselves that they are being cherished, when in reality they are just being used. I'm glad this gf saw the light & kicked his sorry behind out!

If you are single & lonely, stay strong & know that there are worse things than being single. I count my blessings for finding my dh, but I was lonely for a lot of years before that ever happened, & I remember how awful that loneliness felt. I'm glad I didn't settle for a loser like this guy, and held out for one worth the hassle.

I thought this message might be a good one right around Valentine's Day, what with all the painful arrows that point towards our love life (or lack of one), which is often hurtful for far too many people. I would rather see a holiday where we nuture ourselves & appreciate our uniqueness, rather than shine a glaring light that seems to say, "YOU ARE ALONE, LOSER! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?" That's ridiculous. We don't come into this world attached to a significant other, and we won't exit this world attached, either. We need to find wholeness within ourselves, & not cause ourselves to only feel worthy if someone else validates us first. Validate yourselves first & foremost, & the rest is gravy. If you are painfully alone in life, all the more reason to be extra good to yourself, & find validation for your unique worthiness in this world! Who else can better appreciate your unique gifts that you have on offer, than yourself? Just because other people haven't caught on yet, doesn't mean your gifts aren't priceless.

Celebrate them!

There are all kinds of loneliness in this world. Some are caused by never finding our 'true love,' and some are caused by losing our 'true love.' Both are terribly painful in their own ways.

Years ago, after I lost someone that I didn't want to continue living in this life without, I read this quote & contemplated it every day for over a year until I finally 'got it':

So...that is what I came away with, after sitting in a freezing cold Walmart parking lot last night. I hope someone finds it useful.

Could you just see this LOOSER on Peoples Court with Judge Millan.

She would make mince meat out of him.

Or even Judge Judy.

I have seen a lot of those type guys on both those shows. LOL!!!

That's a hilarious story! It's stunning that this individual was surprised by the reaction of the woman who was putting a roof over his head. How is that possible? Maybe mommy will take him in! I hope he doesn't have kids. How sad for them if he does.

Or in this guy's case, three people? Really? This is why I know I'm still okay because there are other people in the world even more of nut than I like to be.

Year's ago I was in a relationship (engaged) that I knew was not so good. It wasn't that I wasn't strong enough to give him the heave-ho.... I just wasn't ready yet. But it was getting worse and I had an epiphany that I would rather not have anyone special FOREVER.... than to pick the wrong person to marry!

This particular epiphany was it. I got rid of him and was happy with doing so. AND THEN... I met the person I was to really marry.... we're now at 39 years and I'm still happy....

Thanks to the OP for sharing this story. I have never even been close to the situation that woman was in. I have a wonderful husband and family. However, I will say that sometimes I look forward to when circumstances are such that I have the house to myself. And a few Saturdays ago, that was the case. I was home alone all day, and by the end of the day, I was going a bit nuts. Even though my dog was with me, I was really lonely, and could not wait until someone came home. I always thought I would be just fine living by myself. Now I am not so sure. But many people do it and I am sure there are ways to cope with it. But my point here is that I can understand where women would be okay with someone moving in with them, even if the person and/or circumstances were not ideal.

@Peaches McPhee, your comment made me realize that although I had originally glanced toward these 2 men talking, I had no interest in even seeing what he looked like. I guess I should have been curious about what on earth would make someone who sounded so awful look so great to several women? Goes to show you that looks just aren't everything. I've seen beautiful people from afar & thought they were breathtakingly gorgeous, until I got to know them better & they lost all sense of attractiveness to my eyes, because of their awful personalities. The reverse has been true, as well.

@Puppy Lips, I've had times in my life that were painfully, heartwrenchingly lonely, so I can understand the fear of facing that type of loneliess in some people. But I've also spent time with mean-spirited non-nurturing people, & I would rather be alone than have someone suck the life out of my very soul like that again. I hope I never have to live through either one of those situations again, however! Once was more than enough.

I have never felt lonely on my own, but I have felt very lonely inside a bad relationship. I've been widowed for going on eight years, and there have been times I've missed Mr. Awesome greatly, but I've never felt lonely. I've been on many, many dates where I wished I was home, alone, with my puppy!
