U-Tube movies

We recently started watching free Utube movies on our Samsung TV, via the U-Tube channel. On two different occasions during the middle of a movie, music played (same music) and the sound shut off! You can tell the movies is still playing, lips are moving, movie progresses but no sound.

Does anyone one know why this would happen?

@Mom2Dogs Can't answer your question but do you also watch Samsung TV Plus? I watch it quite a lot, especially overnight since my Samsung TV is in the bedroom. However it also makes me furious since it interferes and prevents me from watching any channel higher than 9. If I try to punch in channel 11.2 (QVC on antenna), it reverts to the lowest number TV Plus channel. There's no way to watch it. I will not buy another Samsung TV for that reason.

@Kachina624 We are happy with our Samsung TV, we have two of them. We also have Spectrum for our internet and have a limited of number of channels we pay for thru Spectrum...it's called Spectrum Select, I think.

Obviously I do not know what you pay for as far as channels or streaming but if we are watching anything on Samsung Plus, we have to go back to Spectrum...get logged in and go to the spectrum line up. It sounds likes you have an antenna..we do not live near a large city, the antenna would not work for us.

I have tried searching the sound issue with UTube, no answers. I realize it is free...but if this is the way it works, I will quit using UTube.

@Mom2Dogs Does it happen w/the same movie? If so, which movie? Are you sure it's not a commercial/ads?

I can test it out for you if you wish. I would need to at which part of the move the music comes on.

NOTE: I've never watched YouTube on my Toshiba TV. When I saw your post, I checked it out. I noticed that the "movies are FREE w/ads."

@Mom2Dogs Seattle Mariner's game is on U-Tube tv just now & is the first time I even knew we could watch it.

Anyway, sound is going off/on like you mentioned w/your movie, commercial breaks are different as they just go to break w/no actual commercial showing & then it must be that the game isn't in HD as it's not as clear as my old eyes need it to be.

Hopefully it'll get better for us.

@Mz iMac It is different movies...I was watching something on Sunday and then this afternoon...about 3/4 of the way thru both movies...the same song plays, music only, and the sound goes out. I am really bad about sitting and watching a movie or even knowing what I am watching, so I cannot tell you the movie name, sorry. I even tried to go back to continue watching after I left UTube, and could not find the movie or a place to 'resume watching'.

The few movies I have watched were nothing I would ever pay for.

The movies are free and we do not pay for the 'no ad' version. The ads are pretty odd...sometimes they are only a few seconds long. One time I was watching a movie and the commercial (which was a financial ad) was 30 minutes long...I just exited out of that movie.

There is no button I have pushed, just all of a sudden, the music plays and the sound goes out.

TV: Toshiba

My tv is connected to my Amazon DOT. I can talk into my remote if I want to "pause, FF, backwards/reverse, stop" the movie (or any program I am watching).

If I don't want to use my DOT, my TV remote has buttons for "pause, FF, backwards/reverse & stop."

Whem watching the movie (Knowing) I have the ability to "skip" commercials. "Skip" appears at the bottom right of the screen.

So far I have not expierence what you have.

The only thing I can recommend is for you to re-install the YouTube app. Just delete the old one, go to the app store & download the app. See if the re-installed app resolves your issue(s).

@Mom2Dogs this is something recent and randomly happens with You-Tubers like Hair Dresser tutorials or other short programs. like the short CBS Sunday Morning or 60 minutes pieces.

they stick in a brief ad and/or the show goes mute. and now with lots of the ads you have no skip option. some of the YouTubers aren't even monetized yet. so why all the ads?

haven't watched a movie recently though. might be a Google thing

@CatsyCline I started looking around on the UTube help site and noticed in the comments area of a movie, people complained about the sudden music playing and the mute on the movie.

No one had answers but there were a lot of people complaining.

One person thought it was an issue with LIFETIME, trying to get people to pay for the movies instead of watching free with ads.
