One of the most moving days of my life was the day we took the tour boat to the Harbor. With our group was a man who had been there in 1941. He and his wife had brought a wreath to lay, and their sadness underlaid with a kind of pride permeated our whole group.

I remember it well, I was 7 years old. My sisters boyfriend and his cousin, were visiting, both came on their bikes, and I remember them jumping on their bikes and peddaling for home ,to sign up. I lived in a little town, called West Newton, PA, and every sunday we would go down to the train station, to wave at the troops passing through. Different Times, but good times. This is when people loved their country. I still do.

I still do, too. I don't like everything that's going on today, but I love my country. We need to pray for our beloved country.

We will never forget. We were there on the 50th anniversary, December 7, 1991, along with several family members and friends.

Knowing that over 900 men were entombed in the USS Arizona below us gave each one of us an overwhelming feeling of sadness and indeed grief. We could still see oil slicks on the water from 50 years before.

We visited the USS Arizona 10 years ago, they called the oil bubbles still surfacing after all these years the tears of the fallen that are entombed. The memorial was very touching to say the least.

We need to be sure that our children and grandchildren know as muich as possible about these extraordinary times in America's history and the heroes who fought for our freedom They were rightly called "the greatest generation".
