They just don't stop do they ? I have had numerous landline calls today, finally answered one and she asked for Colleen so I said wrong number and abruptly hung up. Now she may have really been looking for Colleen but I have had this number for several years. I just can't deal with these crooks so I am not a nice person on the phone if I do answer and they try to give me a line of "Bull".

That's why I don't answer the phone, unless I recognize the #. If someone really needs me, they can leave a message.

Last time our non existent grandson called, I told him he was dead to us, out of the will, and Pops would shoot him if he stepped foot on the property again!

My "grandson" called from "jail" needing bail money. I do have a young adult grandson. The only problem was that this "gradson" had a thick southern accent. We are from up north with a distinctive regional accent.

I never had any kid/s, so therefore, no grandchildren.

For me, the grandchild calls started when I was in my early fifties and had no grandchildren.. That was ten years ago.

Can't believe this scam hasn't run its course yet, but they must still be finding some victims, or they would stop?

Yup, that's the problem. People keep answering these calls and some even fall for it, so it continues to be lucrative.

If everybody would stop answering them it would go a long way toward stopping it. That applies to all the scam and robo type calls.

Try the old "whistle blow" into the phone as loud as you can. Maybe won't stop them but it will hurt like the dickens. Maybe they'll think twice about it next time.

The way I have greatly reduced, and in some circumstances, stopped, the annoying phone calls is by:

1. threatening non existent grandsons

2. say I am not a registered voter

3. say I've never heard of Publishers Clearing House

4. based on the caller ID, I answer with "Fraud Division", "Central Intake" or "Answering Service"

5. many callers get my I don't give a ****** response.
6. I don't take surveys, and always work for newspaper, radio or TV.

Only 2 robo calls received so far this week; I pick up after the 2nd ring, but don't say anything which would activate the recording, so the call hangs up within 20 seconds.

You know everytime you answer that phone with a number you don't recognize, you are confirming to the caller that it's a legitimate number.

So one call, then another call and then a hosts of additional calls. You are on a list now.

Oh ladies, please don't answer those calls. If anyone wants you, they will leave a message and a call back number.

So, I will once again mention why some of us have to answer most or all of our calls. I'm sure there are numerous other reasons.

in the past, I was a business owner who also used my home landline for business calls. I obviously wouldn't and didn't recognize many of the numbers on my incoming calls. I needed to answer all calls.

I also had my husband in long term care and many of his caregivers called me from their own cell phones because it was more convenient for them, than going to the office phone. I needed to answer all calls.

My personal cell phone is also my business phone. I figure if it's a potential new client (I don't have a business with a physical store or set "hours") they can leave a message & I'll call back once verified via voice-mail it's not a scam. The same applies for any "new" medical type calls or legitimate other business calls. If I'm expecting an "unknown" number call, I'll check voice-mail right away if I get any calls and am available to see it come through.

I do NOT answer if I don't recognize the number or have a contact name pop up. Period.

As someone else mentioned, the simple fact of you picking up the phone adds your name to a "live" caller list....and you'll continue to get calls. No thank you-not worth my time or energy even entertaining them for a nanosecond!! I can also "block" numbers once verified as scam or unwanted. It's a 2 second task to do on my phone.

No land line-cut that cord a few years ago & no regrets!!!!

We have the call blocker from the Q. We like the call blocker,but as many as we block another comes up.

I'm amazed at how many people answer these calls. And then to make up some "witty" reply back to them just encourages more calls.
