If someone you know posts a degrading photo of a person, would you call them out on it? I did, I tried to do it without being mean, but i was so mad, and am still upset and mad. Any opinions?

Ultimately it is their page, and as long as it doesn't violate any of FB's rules, they can post the "degrading" picture .

If it upsets you, you can always unfriend them.

You cannot control what other people put on their Facebook pages.

You can only control what you put on yours.

I would ask if they had the person's permission to post the photo (if it's a parent, I would ask if the photo were of them, would they want it public) and leave it at that.

To me what she did was mean and degrading, for her to get some laughs and maybe a few likes. I just can't let things like that happen, and not speak up. That was a form of being a bully imo. I just lost it.

What do you mean by "degrading" and where on Facebook?

I understand porn is on Facebook. IMO, that's very degrading. No amount of calling out Facebook will stop this because Facebook allows them.

I see unflattering photos of people everyday. Some are posted intentionally as a way to portray them negatively. Others are just bad snapshots.

Unless I'm asked for an opinion, I take the position the photo is none of my business except when they represent moral degeneracy of a culture, see them frequently, and begin to become the norm. That doesn't only apply to porn.

But that's your opinion of the picture.

You cannot force her to remove the picture, simply because you don't like it.

You can report it to Facebook, but beyond that, it is out of your control.

If it upsets you, you can always unfriend the person.

Since I gave up FB years ago please help me understand the "rules". It sounds like you can post degrading, embarrassing or rude pictures of anyone without their permission. Does the person being bullied have any recourse? I honestly don't understand how it works so I'm looking for clarification.

yes, i did not ask her to remove it, i told her what i thought of it. The rest is up to what kind of person she truly is.

no porn, at a party and just stupid stuff, but i felt why she had tthe need to put the photo out there was in very bad taste.

You’re entitled to voice your opinion. They obviously put it out there for others to see/comment. Maybe, because of your words, the person will be more thoughtful about what they post - how it may hurt others. But then again, they may not care. You did your best.

yes.

Maybe your relative wasn't as upset as you are if they didn't say anything. One person's degrading is another's no big deal.
