MASKS IN MALL YESTERDAY!!

Our mall was fairly crowded yesterday with all the sales/coupons available. Most people were masked...whether vaccinated or not. There was no way to social distance and I assume the non-vaccinated were being cautious. I had to wear a mask, as well since most smaller stores "suggested" a mask before enterting...small like L'Occitaine, boutique type stores and jewelry stores where sale's associates come closer to customers.

It looked and felt so strange after walking freely and unmasked for many weeks.

Our apartment complex dropped the mask mandate last week.

It feels so simple now walking out of my apartment without a mask!

Making it out to my car (down a flight of stairs) with everything I need continues to be a challenge, especially considering each time I stepped out so far eith the wind was howling like a tsunami or last winter when the artic blasts kept me in!

We were in the Outer Banks 2 weeks ago when North Carolina's governor rescinded the mask requirement. Most stores and restaurants changed their signs to indicate that fully vaccinated customers and staff wouldn't be required to wear masks, so DH and I removed ours and kept one in our pockets. There was a small (about 15 stores) outlet mall that required everyone to wear a mask. I thought they'd forgotten to change their signs, so when I walked into the first store without a mask, the saleswoman immediately told me I had to wear a mask. I just pulled one out of my purse, but it felt weird after not wearing one for over a week.

I am happy to see the stores are getting busier and people are getting out to restaurants, etc. It is difficult however to know when to wear a mask or not. I went to the grocery store on Friday and no masks required, then on over to the meat market where one was required??? We will still need to carry one for quite awhiile, I just wish it was the same rules everywhere as it just causes confusion and they wonder why people get upset!

I took Friday off and got up early to get groceries. I didn't wear a mask at Wal-Mart or Meijer but found it surprising that so many of the shoppers were wearing them.

I went to a larger grocery store in my area and those who were not vaccinated had to wear masks and the same message kept playing over the PA system stressing the importance for those not vaccinated to be honest and follow guidelines and wear masks until the 70%vaccination rate is reached.

Have to agree this some places yes and some places no is a problem. I was out this weekend and just walked by a store requiring a mask. Was not going to dig for a mask in my purse. Didn't need anything in that place that badly, especially since the store next door did not require one.

Think if I kept hearing that message while trying to shop I would shop somewhere else.

I guess I'm a big rule breaker. Even stores which have a sign stating masks required - I don't wear a mask any longer. Sorry but I'm not carrying a mask around with me. If someone questions me I have my vaccination card.

My guess is that everyone who is masked is vaccinated (unless you see kids with a mask and that is a whole other story).

I was shocked since NC dropped the mask mandate awhile ago and how do we/they know who's vaccinated or not? It may come to carrying a card of proof to be allowed even in stores not masked.

If someone is not vaccinated and chooses to not wear a mask, not my problem. What IS my issue is that it is making it necessary for me to remain masked in some areas.

Most of the stores in my town still require masks. It's OK because we don't know who's unvaccinated and it's possible, although unlikely, to become Covid positive even after being vaccinated. After almost 15 moths of living like a hermit, I do not want to wreck my chances of enjoying the summer. I just wish more people would get those shots. After seeing the huge crowds around the country, I wonder whether we'll see another uptick in cases. My county is still listed at high Covid danger for unvaccinated people so I won't take chances. I got my Pfizer shots in March but the uncertainty of the next month has me putting the mask on when I'm out and about.

@mimomof4 Yesterday, unmasked...no entry in some stores....They do not know who has had shots.

Here the mask mandate has been lifted but businesses can require them. Most people are wearing masks so that's what I do as well. It is not a big deal to wear one; I am used to it now.

I'd rather be cautious even though I am vaccinated. There is a concern there may be a rise in cases in a few weeks since everyone is mingling now and restaurants are at full capacity now.

Masks are still required where I live. I've yet to go to a store that doesn't have a sign telling you to wear a mask. And don't be fooled thinking you are safe just because you are fully vaccinated. I'm vaccinated and just tested positive, having picked up the virus from a family member. Sigh.

Would not shop at any store that required "proof of vaccination" to enter. That really is not a good business practice given the number of people who are overly concerned is dwindling, especially as more and more places open up for the summer.

I am vaccinated and I also had covid. I stopped wearing a mask as soon as the mandate was lifted. I have noticed that most of the people in my area have done the same. It feels great to see people's faces again! I would say less than half of the shoppers I have seen are still wearing them and many of them are not wearing them properly. If you are vaccinated, then those who aren't are no threat to you anyway. If wearing a mask makes you feel more secure, then continue wearing one. But they are not necessary anymore, if they ever even were. Social distancing, frequent hand washing, and avoiding crowds are much more effective in avoiding any contagious illness than those germ-laden masks.

I have never worn a mask outside. I am fully vaccinated but will continue to wear a mask whenever I feel that it's safer to do so. Just yesterday DH and I got on an elevator. At the next floor an "unmasked" man got on. We immediately put on our masks and moved away. He said he was "vaccinated." Whether he was or wasn't, for the foreseeable future I will not stand near anyone without a mask on regardless of the so-called guidelines. As I have been doing all along, I will do what I feel is best for me.

BTW, at the mall we went to yesterday here in Las Vegas the majority were wearing masks. Today, the mask "mandate" has been eliminated so we'll see.

@mimomof4 , yes you are flat out defying the request of a business as if only what you want matters.

Businesses have the right to still require a mask. Everyone's option is to wear the mask or don't shop in the store. It's really that simple.

There were states that lifted mandates months ago and some never had them.

Ohio's health mandates completely lift tomorrow. It doesn't matter whether you are vaccinated or not, you do not have to wear a mask, no social distancing anymore and places are allowed to be open at 100% capacity.

This whole thing of vaccinated people being allowed to not wear masks anymore was foolishness. No one is going to ask if you are vaccinated before entering a store. You are on the honor system so what is the point? Does anyone really think every single person without a mask inside a store was vaccinated? LOL There is no common sense anymore.
