Online Dating or Matchmaker Services

I have been using OurTime online dating service with minimal success for about 6 months. No luck except a contact who has become a friend; not romantically. There are matchmaker services that offer extensive background checks, a 90 + minute one-on-one with the facilitator. This makes sense, however, I've heard the cost can be extensive. Anyone have any insight, experience or luck utilizing this service? TIA!

My friend's dad found his partner on Plenty of Fish. He was around 70 at the time.

My friend found her partner on Bumble where the woman makes the moves/info.

I guess I would find out how many clients they have signed up to make sure they have enough people in the ballpark of what you'd be looking for. It wouldn't hurt to look into it but you're right, it's pretty costly so make sure they have enough "introductions" to make it worth it and see if you can find reviews or references on the service. You might also want to look at Silver Singles which offers more services than Ourtime but not a costly matchmaker.

I found my husband on Match.com and it's the second marriage for us both and I've never been happier.

They didn't have dating services before I got married but a friend of mine met his wife (a doctor) (he's a teacher) on Match dot com and they have 6 kids now.

I think that our time is a bit limited in their reach. Why not try Match or eHarmony?

I have a good friend who met his spouse on eHarmony. Both are 6 figure professionals.

You may want to have someone go over your profile with you to make sure you're sending the right message. Most of those profiles, you gotta read between the lines.

Sites like Bumble, Tinder and Pkenty of Fish are hookups. Nobody with serious intentions is on them.

Eharmony is definitely more selective and for more serious minded daters so that might be worth looking into. They have a lot of questionnaires to better find your match.

I recently started to dive into dating and I signed up for Bumble and Facebook Dating. I have met someone on FB Dating and he is a great guy and I hope it develops into something. I didn't even know FB had dating until it came across my feed one day. Bumble is nice as well and I had several matches.

A girl I know found a 90 Day Fiance type on there. She eventually dumped him when she figured out he wanted a green card.

My neighbor was using Match dot com and she wasn't successful. Then she switched to E-Harmony - she was then 60 yrs old ---- and right away connected with a man who was 63. They met at Starbucks in between her home and his apartment. Voila!!!! They both knew they were "meant to be." They got married a few months later in Iowa (his hometown) - and in August they'll be married for 15 years. She was a teacher and he was an attorney. Both retired 6 years ago.

They both had very bad long marriages - and they're a Perfect Match.

Years ago, I met 2 women at the Temple - one was younger and the other older. They both met their husbands on Match.

I wouldn't spend money on a Matchmaker --- I think u have more control on E-Harmony. You fill out an app and u are matched automatically. They say that people on E-Harmony are a little older and seriously want to meet someone.

You could also try Match --- u never know where you'll meet someone.

You should explore the matchmaking service if you think you can afford it. It must be very expensive but probably many times more reliable and m more success than commercial services which are really for hook ups, not martiage.

All these on-line sites are very successful. Most people won't admit they met their spouse that way. Are u aware that Kathy Levine, QVC host, met her husband on Match dot com?

My DD has great luck with a matchmaking service that arranged a meeting at a restaurant with singles who obviously screened for appropriate age, etc. The gals sat at individual tables, while the guys took turns visiting between tables. I guess the conversations were friendly and easy, and it was a great chance to size up potentials with a minimal amount of pressure.

Following the event, everyone was asked to write up a list of anyone they would like to know better. If there was a potential match of both parties, the guy could initiate a date if desired.

Long story short, DD and her interest clicked right away. Both were older, never married, with demanding careers. They have been happily married for five years now,

This was a good way to meet new people, in a safe setting.

Please, everyone...be CAREFUL with dating sites. The best way to go about this is to PRIVATELY do it. Go, physically, to a place where they screen everyone stringently.

I've seen TONS of ID shows of people using these sites and wind up in a lot of serious trouble. The world is a dangerous place right now and my one saying, since I think this kind of thing is over board, JMO....

I think everyone would love to meet that perfect someone in church, introduced by a friend, maybe a co worker, neighbor, etc..... However, in the this day and time the computer seems to be the way it is done. I think Shawn Killinger said she met her husband online. It is a way you can connect to many people with the click of a key on the computer. I know an woman in her 70s that met a man online and married him who only live a few houses from her. I think you should use good judgement and meet in public place and be skeptical for a while until you can prove what he says is true. Listen closely to what he says so that you can catch him in any discrepancies and if he asks for money run.......I would think of it as an adventure and not take it seriously. I have a friend who has entertained me with some funny stories of her dating experiences.
