My disability is decorating! Help.

I need a decorating service where I can I send them a picture of my room and someone will tell me what curtains and bedspread to buy so it goes with the rug and the other furniture.

Any names????? Suggestions??? Recommendations????

I get emails daily from Restoration Hardware and Kathy Kuo for decorator advise.

Also, you can go to a local boutique (my favorite option) and get in-house help with decorating.

In my area we have a couple of interior decorators that will come to your home for an hourly rate and help you...color ideas, drapes, etc.

I did it once, I needed help jump starting my dining/living rooms. They were a huge help. I can decorate but was really stumped. Once they gave me a couple of ideas I ran with them.

I think the HOUZZ website offers an option to upload a picture and people can chime in (many are not professionals, but some are), and give their options and what they think would look good.

You can check the Wayfair site, and scroll to the bottom left, there is an option for Wayfair Professional, who from what I can tell, will help you with design services and locating items you are interested in.

You can always post a picture here, and we can make some suggestions based on what you let us know the styles you like....contemporary, shabby chic, masculine, glam, modern, mid-century, etc.

Just look at spreads that have c a touch of your rug color.

I prefer curtains that are the color of the wall to make the room look larger.

What is the color of your furniture?

I taught Interior Design and wrote curriculum for the area for 10 years.

Years ago I began a collection of pictures of decorated rooms that I especially liked. When you do this, you begin

to see a common thread, notably decorating styles, colors, accessories, etc. In my case, everything is Early American.

And take note of your preference toward formal or informal rooms.

My friend used Pottery Barn twice. She was happy with her results. She's very picky. It wasn't cheap though.

Pottery Barn will do it and they are very good, but also very pricey! I work with a lady who just remodeled her home, and she used a service called Budget Blinds to hlep her with her window treatments....She loved it, so you may want to try a local window treament service as well. I think that is much harder than bedding and they may be able to help with that as well.

Pottery Barn is expensive, but their items will look good a very long time and look good.

Even if you use an online service, they will still ask you what colors and styles you gravitate towards. Also, since room lighting can affect the picture (as well as differences in computer screen settings if do this digitally), it would help if you could tell them if your rug and furniture are in the tint, tone, shade or hue family.

Just buy what you like and what you think looks nice. No need to pay someone to tell you what to put in your own bedroom.

@CVN1993 If all you are looking for is advice on curtains and a bedspread, I don't know that you need a decorator. Maybe post pictures of your rug and furniture in the Home section, I am sure you will get plenty of opinions. Honestly, I don't match my curtains and bedspread to my furniture, and with regards to the rug, just make sure things don't clash.

My window treatments are a light color that matches the wall color, because I don't like the room to look busier than it needs to be.

How unique is your rug?

@Daisy Sunflower I have the same problem as the OP yet I agree with you. We live a simple lifestyle so my home is organized with things we like. It's not awful but could use a decorators touch.

@CVN1993 If you post a few pictures, plenty of us will help you out. We need a close up of the rug. The type of bed you have and the height and width of the windows.
