Two weeks now...

It has been going on two weeks since I left the house and put REAL clothes on. Is that weird or something? I am not depressed or unhappy. Just like staying home and being in comfy clothes. Go on my dog walks... work in the yard... etc.

Going out somewhere is so much work. I just have everything delivered anymore since the pandemic started. Would rather not go into a store and I am starting to like that more and more.

Is this the new norm?

I have lung disease, so I have only left my home 3 times since March, 2020.

2 were for Dr. appts. the other was my first Covid vaccine.

But like you, I'm a homebody anyway and DH is stepping up big time for anything we 'need'.

I don't think it is the new norm for many. Some, yes, but many people are still going out, working, getting groceries, eating in restaurants.

Yes, I think it is the new norm for you and many more. However, there are many of us that life hasn't changed that much. The life that DH and I are living is pretty much what we always did, except we wear a mask, take hand sanitizer and wipes with us wherever we go. We eat out, have stayed in motels, been to all of our doctor appointments - yearly physicals, dental, eye, derm.....some several times. I have been to the mall, tried on clothes, the beach, gone grocery shopping, been to Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, church, numerous thrift shops, everywhere that I went "before" I go to now, if it is open.

We respect the choices that each individual has to make for themselves. It is important for people to feel safe with their decisions. It sounds as if you do and so do I. Thank God we still have the freedom to choose.

I've been working from home for 5+ years. Up to last March, I would go into the office once a week & looked forward to getting dressed up, full face of make-up, etc., but still enjoyed working from home the other 4 days. I haven't been in the office since last March & miss having those days of being able to wear my office clothes, a full face of make-up, etc., even if it was only one day a week. I suppose I could put on a full face of make-up every day, but no one sees me except my husband & puppy (my employer doesn't mandate we turn on video for meetings) & my husband thinks it's silly to go through all that when I'm at home all day, every day.

I truly envy those who are happy staying home 24/7/365. Cannot imagine only going out a few times in the past year. While we have not traveled in the past year we do have plans to go to Vegas next month. And we have eaten in restaurants whenever they have been open. I am eagerly looking forward to the day when masks are not required.

@SeaMaiden No I don't think it's weird at all. I do that for days at a time.

I enjoy being home also. We never stopped going out (well we stopped the fun socializing of course) but we continued to do our own shopping and going to our appointments with the doctor and dentist. We walk outside when we can now and then.

We are quite careful and knowledgable regarding infection spread so we have been okay. It may be somewhat the new norm for some people, I think we will all be more cautious about where we go and what we do from now on. I have to say, to each his own, but I am ready to get out a bit more and am looking forward to spring. I will still, however, have my comfy home days. Stay well

@tends2dogs Looks like the same places you list have been opened here since last summer. So if they are open we go. Went to the Cape on vacation with my relatives. Had company from upstate, also went upstate to visit them. Etc. etc. all these places were open and under Covid rules. Husband does all the shopping and going to all the stores as it is not something I like to do. I am a homebody at heart. However it's very easy to get me to a restaurant!

I'm living within the restrictions that are currently in place in my area, but that doesn't preclude me from going to the gym, dining out, shopping in person, etc.

We all live in different areas of the country, have different situations, concerns and comfort levels. Everyone should do what's best for them.

If it weren't for my Type 1 Diabetes and Asthma I would be going out and doing what I did before. I'm not quite a senior but I'm still careful. My husband does more than me and is careful. So far so good. I do leave the house and pickup groceries go inside the pharmacy and go in a store on occasion. I feel for my own mental health I should get out and about even if just to drive to pickup groceries. Plus I love my Jeep. I also walk most mornings and speak to people.

@FrostyBabe1. If you lived where I live, you'd be precluded from going to the gym, dining out, shopping in many stores as well as a plethora of other things as they have all been closed since last March. We feel we should do what's best for our fellow citizens of the state.

It may be the new norm for some but not all. I for one hate being couped up.I want to get dressed, put on my makeup & go. I want to visit friends & family.I want to take trips.I want to see movies & plays.I want to go back to eating in restaurants.

When we went into lockdown last March I got dressed & did my makeup everyday. I did it thru September. Then seeing that things weren't going to get better I got a little depressed. I no longer get dressed up everyday.

I long to bust loose. Being in my 60's I feel that most of my life is behind me. Whatever time I have left I want to enjoy. My husband will begin treatment for prostate cancer soon. Life is too short. I don't want to waste anymore time.

DH says he wants us to travel. He wants us to go back to Aruba & take a Mediterranean Cruise.He wants to go to England with my son & his in-laws. We want to make some more memories while we still can.

If I stay home on a Saturday, I have to go somewhere on Sunday. Staying home all day, for two days in a row makes me antsy to get out of the house.

But I don't live where you do, so I'm not subject to those restrictions. I follow those in place where I live. Clearly, you're looking for an argument, which I'll not give you. However; your response is perfect example of why so many posters, including me, choose to no longer post here or have greatly reduced their participation. Judgement abounds for anyone not adhereing to the "lockdown forever" group think. No thank you.
