Christmas Cards

It is a week until Christmas and I have received only four Christmas cards. One from my dentist, one from my financial adviser and two from relatives. This is a lot less than years past.

How about you? Are getting significantly less cards this year?

I don't send out cards anymore. A lot of people I know stopped too.

I would say we are getting about the same, but maybe just a few less!!! I have had a couple people call me and say --- we appreciate the card but because of the virus we didn't go out to buy cards so don't be disappointed that you don't get one from us and Merry Christmas! I thought that was very sweet!

We’ve received two so far....lol. I suspect we’ll get a couple more before Christmas but that’s all. I’ve stopped sending them except for those to whom we are sending checks or gift cards to.

I bought my cards on sale after Christmas last year so I sent mine out as usual. I don't send that many, maybe 26. I have only gotten 11 so far. I would have expected more.

I got 2 Christmas cards & 1 Hanukkah card.I used to get about 50.People stopped sending them.

I like sending and receiving Christmas cards. I’ve received about the same as last year - maybe a couple less.

@ninjawife I have only received 5...all family members. I can remember many years ago when my mom and I would make a special trip to the mall so she could pick out the "perfect" card. It would take her forever to chose. It had to have the perfect sentiment as well.....This is also when we would actually have 2 mail deliveries a day the week before Christmas because there were so many cards. It was exciting to see how many we would get.... Unfortunately those days are gone. Just thankful to have the memories....

I sent out about 30 cards and have received cards from most of the people who usually send me one. I hardly ever see my cousins and so I really enjoy getting cards and photos from them. The same is true with some friends who have moved away.

We send a few. Some to the Netherlands. Some to the elderly. Some to people far away.

Most people have the E-Mail,but we like the personal touch.

Daddy loved to send cards. I can still see him (in my mind's eye) sitting at the kitchen table doing the cards. He sent about 200 cards and we received about the same.

Daddy was WW2 and snt a lot to his old war buddies.

@ninjawife , the only cards I give this year are in person so they are few. I stopped a couple of years ago. I was going to do it this year but decided not to restart the tradition. I will email a couple of childhood friends that I have reconnected with and will talk to family over Christmas. S

Yes, absolutely! I sent a whole stack of beautiful, large, embossed Christmas cards to family friends and business associates. I think we got about four or five cards back. It seems that people find it too time-consuming to write out a simple, beautiful Christmas card to someone. But these are the same people that are glued to their devices or their television sets for hours on end. The cards that we got are also very small, and barely worth the stamp. What is shame such a beautiful lost art is going by the wayside.

I sent out around 25 cards. Not everyone sends one to me, which is fine....some of the people are very elderly, others just don't send cards.

I have gotten a dozen, all from family/friends. They are from people I genuinely care for...with some, we just don't keep in regular touch anymore except at Christmas. Most enclosed a picture or note, which I love. A few more cards will come in this upcoming week, I'm sure.

I will keep doing cards as long as I continue to enjoy it.

I can always count on at least one card. It's from the garbage collector, with photos of the three young men who ride the truck. It's a nice gesture.

Yes. A lot fewer cards. #7 is coming in today's mail.

I did not send out a card this year.I may post a family pic on FB. May send out a few cards to elderly relatives, but that's it.

When I was growing up we sent and received tons of Christmas cards. Back then, it was a way of touching base with people you might not see or call very often during the year. We've received 3 Christmas cards so far, all from relatives. I don't send hard copy cards anymore, but started sending e-cards last year for birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The money I save on postage more than makes up for the annual subscription rate. I like to send the animated ones (both humorous and serious) and I can still add a personal message. Our grandnieces and nephews love to get cards where the character calls them by name. I also like the fact that I can send the same card to several recipients on the same transmission if I don't plan to include a personal message. Finally, the app I use keeps track of the cards I sent to friends and family so I don't send them the same one that I sent last year.

@Effie54 For a few years I sent some beautiful Christmas cards that I bought from QVC. I stopped sending them when the additional postage charges (extra weight and $1 extra charge for hand cancelling) got to be too expensive. I still have a few of them, which I bring to our neighbors with their Christmas cookies.
