Death of friend of 61 years

My friend of 61 years died suddenly Monday night in her sleep. We met the first day of jr. High and remained friends for life. So many memories and more to make. Every year I would return to my home state and we would have our annual day together. We missed it this year because of covid and I was planning to do the trip in May. I'm heartbroken and devastated beyond belief. RIP my sweet dear friend. 💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔

@Mi47 I am so sorry for your loss. Having a friend for most of your life must have been wonderful and I know that you will miss her so much. Saying that you can think about the great times that you have really does not do much for your heart, but I am very sorry.

I, too, lost a friend that way. The best I can say is that she went from a peaceful sleep to out heavenly home. We, too, had planned to get together soon. Her husband had left to pick up their daughter from college in NYC. She was to go with him, but decided to stay home as the long ride would have been difficult (she had had cancer but had problems as a result of the many treatments and the long ride from MA to NYC would have bothered her legs). We were going to get together a few weeks later.

Her son had come over to visit with her that Friday nite. When her husband didn't get his morning call the next day, he had their son drop over. He found his mother on the living room couch where he left her after they had an enjoyable evening.

Wait, you will get a sign from your friend on the other side, letting you know all is well. Though heartbreaking, remember, we'll all be together again...

I never believed any of that kind of thing untill my mother-in-law died. She was better to me in the 19 years I knew her than my own mother was in all my life.

At the very time his brother called to tell him, my husband's watch stopped and despite several attempts, it never worked again. That would SO be like my m.i.l.; she always wanted people to know when she was around.

She could be a handful at times but I still smile when I remember her.

A couple of years ago at Thansgiving dinner in a restaurant, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I quickly turned around but no one was there. And it would have been exactly like m.i.l; I think she wanted me to know she was still a presence in my life.

@Mi47 ~ Sending my heartfelt sympathy. This is not an easy process. I, to, lost my dearest friend of 59 years, on July 31, 2019. She passed from blood clots (lungs) one week after hip replacement surgery. She was doing so well with her post op exercises, etc. It was a shock to everyone. I still have a hard time believing she's gone.

I talk to her daily, especially in prayer with the hopes that she is happy and at rest. I miss her so much. We didn't have to say a word, and knew what the other was thinking.

A once in a lifetime friendship, and I'm very blessed and grateful for that.

12 years ago I lost my childhood friend of 40 years suddenly to a fatal heart attack. I think about her nearly everyday.I miss her terribly.But you know we shared many incredible moments & made so many beautiful memories.

Your friend will live in your heart forever.Over time the memories you have of the two of you will bring a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye.💐

Heartfelt sympathy and prayers for the loss of your beloved friend. Friendship like that truly is a gift and there is nothing like it. I hope you will be able to cherish the memories down the road and when you think about her it will be with a smile and hopefully even some laugh out moments.

One of my best friends and I met the first day of school and we have remained really close for fifty nine years. We don't live in the same state but we talk all the time and see each other when we can. I am glad you got to visit each year in person.

Sorry to hear about your life long friend. Losing someone that has been a friend much of your life is traumatic. I too have lost long term friends, and that unfortunately is the sad part of my getting older.

My two best friends of 75 years are still living but in very poor health. I expect to grieve like you Nancy but it helps to know we will be reunited with them one day. in my case, very soon.
