Mrs Kravitz??

On our local news this morning was a story about a neighbor somewhere in Ohio that called police because a 12 year old boy was throwing a football in the street. Police showed up and they played football with him. Bet the nosy neighbor was really miffed.

This is a perfect example of the small mind mentality of some people.

@Imaoldhippie Wow, that's crazy. Kids can't even be kids anymore without someone making an issue out of it. Better to have them outside playing a game of football instead of sitting in front of a TV playing video games or getting into trouble.

Now that kid is going to wonder who is calling on him whenever he is outside in his own neighborhood.

I agree.

The story I read said there were a couple of young boys playing football in the street when a neighbor called police describing it as a 'gang' causing a disturbance.

When the police arrived and saw how young the boys were (around 12) and causing no harm or trouble, they played with them.

The video of them playing together is priceless, with one of the cops taking a tumble trying to catch a ball, LOL!

I'm sure you can google the video, I don't remember if was posted on IG, FB or another site.

Nice community relations on the officer's part and the video really made me smile, the kids were obviously so psyched that the officers were playing with them.

I googled this and this shouldn't be controversial at all. Three cops came and joined in the game with the kids. What a great way to connect with young men and to let them know that there are good cops out there. Hopefully Mrs. Kravitz got her comeuppance and will think twice before calling the the police on a group of kids playing in the street doing what kids have done for years.

I searched for the story...it wasn't a kid it was a group of kids & it made the news because they're black. Maybe she was worried because they weren't wearing masks & if that's why she called it doesn't surprise me because it's happened in my small town too...the self appointed mask & cart monitors are a pain in the keister.

I think it's only "controversial" in a good way, showing positive interaction between a group of kids and police officers.

As for 'Karen' the street monitor who called in (false information), I have no words.

I didn't read the story, but my sister had a bad experience with kids playing football in the street.

They dented her car in several places and finally broke her front windshield. She parks in the street in front of her home.

The kids in question live about a block away. She asked them several time to play football in front of their own house. Their reply " We are not allowed. Dad has a new car."

There is a large public playground behind my sister house where the kids can go.

IG, if you have no words then why are you using them? You must realize that the moniker "Karen" has become nothing but a slur. And a slur is a slur is a slur. Petty name calling that is not cute.

There may be more to this story. I don't know. I don't watch videos. But I was always taught for safety that streets were for vehicles and yards, sidewalk, parks were for playing. And if I had a new car parked on the street I may have found the football game concerning. There may indeed be more to the story.

If you are going to post regarding a topic that is (and it is controversy) than you should make sure you give the full details of the topic. Partial details make individuals come to a wrong conclusion. This WAS NOT a matter of a neighbor being a Mrs. Kravitz or a nosy neighbor.

It does sound like a nice outcome.

However, I too wish kids would not play in the streets for safety reasons. I didn't think about the cars but if mine was there I'd probably worry too.

In our circle, kids play, bike, walk all the time. There are no sidewalks and I always driver super slow but many drivers just speed thru. I don't want to hit squirrels, birds, deer or kids!

But most of the yards are on a hill.

I don't know why they couldn't build sidewalks at least!

@Etoile308 I have to agree about using the name "Karen". I just don't understand why that name was chosen to be used as an insult and slur against women. Many perfectly nice women have the name. One of my closest friends is named Karen.

I was reading a story online about a woman with the name of Karen waiting in line for something. She had to give her name to be called. Instead she used her middle name because she was afriad of getting nasty looks when her given name was called. I know it sounds really silly but that was her reaction to having her name now suddenly turned into a negative word.

That video was posted on Twitter yesterday the neighborhood kids and the police all had fun playing football in the street.
