But seriously, it's interesting to look at the HS scene. Hubs is on his HS Reunion committee and there's people on there who don't use email and require phone calls. No problem. Just interesting. Sad to say, many are widows and widowers and seems like we get notices, too often, of classmate passings. We both went to larger high school. We're mid sixties.

My HS class has a FB group and it's interesting to see lives and then remember them in the 70s.

I remember a few years ago, I received an e-mail from one of my best friends with a picture attached. She didn't send any comments with the pic.

It was a pic of all of these old people, some sitting, some standing posing for a picture. I didn't recognize anyone.

I e-mailed her back and asked. " Who are all of these old people?" Her response " It's a picture of those who showed up for the class reunion a month ago."

It's funny that we don't think we are old or feel old. Something must be wrong with the cameras...

Someone I knew from high school was interviewed for a local TV story last week, and had his name not been showing on the screen, I would've never recognized him!

How about when the boy who grew up two doors over and became the city manager at a few locations, including ours, got named in an embezzlement suite by the city and went to jail!!!!!

So true! When I see photos of classmates on our Facebook page, I find myself saying that surely I don't look that old....I graduated in 66. The strange thing is that I usually can recognize the women, but have a hard time recognizing the guys. There were over 700 in my class and I thought I knew all of them - I've learned that I didn't!

Funny thread!

I got a phone call from an old housemate back in January out of the blue! Somehow he found my phone number and we had a nice chat.

I was supposed to go to Florida in March (where he now lives) and meet up with him and another old friend, a woman who I have kept in touch with. ....maybe it will happen next year.

Last time I saw him I was 25 years old, weighed about 100 lbs and had straight hair down to my waist. He saw my photo on FB and one of the first things that he asked was when did I cut my hair?!! I wanted to ask when did he go bald?!

Supposed to have my 40 year reunion this August. With COVID cases increasing don’t see how they can have it. Due to my risk factors doubt I will go if they do.

We decided to do a 50 year reunion from GRADE SCHOOL! The majority had moved away from the neighborhood. Our school (Catholic) had been closed by the Diocese but was being used for CDC. It had been built in 1933. We graduated in 1960 and had 3 classes with 50 in each class, an all girls class, an all boys class and a mixed class of boys and girls. We had an amazing response, someone even came from Alaska and another from Hawaii! We had name tags (married name was in parenthesis) and a graduation picture from 1960! Believe me, the picture was very, very helpful! The "boys" fared so much better than the "girls'. We had a ball reliving our youth and childhood friendships.

We were able to make arrangements to tour the school as well. It was mind blowing! Totally immaculate, beautifully kept, even the coat closets and blackboard trimmed in wood. Only two things had changed: the windows were new and the desks.

We had a glorious time!

@wilma Loved reading all of these. REminded me of the story that has gone around for years about the older woman who went to a new dentist. When she saw him, she realized that had graduated h.s. together. She said, I believe we were in the same h.s. He replied, "Really? What subject did you teach??"

Proves the porint we all think we look younger than we are!!

My high school has an alumni group on Facebook (so does my grammar school). Someone is always posting some photos of our school days and yearbook photos.

Not too many current photos. And - I don't think there enough of us left for a reunion!

Both schools have been closed for about 20 years now.

@Somertime: When I attended my 50th H.S. reunion several years ago I made a point of finding as many of my elementary classmates as I could (this was in Silver Spring and many of my 900 classmates stayed in the local area; some kids I went to kindergarten were in my University of Maryland graduating class). It was really fun reminiscing about friends and even their parents (several had also attended our H.S. in their time). Because of the size of my class, I remembered some of them better than some of my other h.s. classmates.

My father was career military so my siblings and I attended many schools in many states. However, we graduated after the usual three years at one high school.

I had a a large yearbook full of pictures, autographs and messages. It meant very little to me so it was forgotten for years. I threw it away the same day I happened to find it with a bunch of old books and stuff in some sealed boxes I had lugged around from various states and cities. I had gone from high school to college to graduate school.

All these years later, three or four former classmates popped up. One is now a good friend. I didn't even know one of them but we have become very dear friends.

I have a monthly lunch or dinner gathering (on hold during pandemic) with a group of school friends. We are mid-60s, and most of us have aged pretty well. What I really notice is you can tell who was a sun worshiper and who wasn't....big difference in skin condition.

They are a great bunch, and I look forward to being able to meet up again at some point.

Not just the sun worshipers but the ones who smoke, they often have wrinkled skin both men and women. Somethings just age the skin.
