Phrase: In These Uncertain Times

This seems to be the phrase used in every commercial on television. I understand it’s hard to express our world situation, but I know I will quickly tire of these words.
On a lighter side, this phrase was straight from the movie „Mr. Mom“ and the sales pitch for Scooner Tuna.

I'm already tired of them and see no need for advertisers or spokespersons to preface their remarks with them to the point that they've already become trite. I also don't really need to hear about how every entity on earth really wants to 'be there for me'.

i suppose some people will comp!ain about EVERYTHING. These are nice people communicating nicely, showing appropriate care, concern, and gravitas for the serious situation that we are all in.

I'm not convinced that's what's actually going on, but if that's your take then by all means run with it... Still, others are entitled to their point of view too, not all of which are going to be quite as rosy as yours...

It's just a matter of the positive and negative people. Those constantly bothered by every little thing will more than likely complain about such things and those with a natural positive attitude won't. Glad I am a positive person that things that don't really have any impact on me directly never bother me. Negatives can change their attitudes but rarely do which is their choice. We only have control over how we react to anything so why complain about what you can't change. Life is so much more fun and easier with a positive outlook.

I agree. I'm realistic and acknowledge the fact that bad things can and do happen. I choose to not live under a cloud of gloom and doom.

Cottonelle has an ad now assuring everyone there's enough TP for all & they're working harder to make sure stores have supplies. Lincoln is selling cars taking advantage of "our times" by offering lowered prices, no payments or interest for many months. Now that's capitalism at it's very worst.

I think an awareness of situation and willingness to work with consumers is important. It's also good when companies willing to spend advertising dollars. Three positives.

No, in this instance, I don't think it's as simple as whether or not one is a 'positive' or 'negative' person. I also don't know if those of us finding today's reality is not a lily that can be gilded are normally 'constantly bothered by every little thing'. This seems like an oversimplifcation but, well, each to their own...

As for alternative phrases used in advertising and so on, as already suggested, none are really warranted. We all already know the status quo.
