Hello Friends,

I'm having a Corneal Transplant (Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty/ DMEK) tomorrow at 11:00a.m. to correct my Fuch's Dystrophy and removal of a small cataract. I'm very apprehensive about it and would appeciate your prayers please. I'm going to have my first grandchild ( a girl) within the next two weeks and I pray it's in God's plan that I'll be abel to meet her. Thank you for your blessings in advance.

My sister had a corneal transplant about 2 years ago. I went with her to the doctor's visits and her doctor let me look at his neat little stitches through that heavy duty microscope thingy. Boy, that was so cool.

Not to make light of your situation, but thankfully this surgery is common place and very successful You will be able to enjoy your new bundle and see her though "new" eyes soon.

Please understand, if not known at this time, Ophthalmologists ( Eye M.D.s) perform more than _ 40,000 corneal transplants each year in the USA.

*Of all transplants surgery done today-including heart, lung, and kidney- corneal transplants are the MOST common and SUCCESSFUL*

Nice ( surprise) to see your name, again. I thought maybe you totally disappeared..after my note birthday greeting, from last May 7th............

Stay well. I have thought about you each December, February and May; what you once have gone through, much pain, sadness and losing a beloved one.

I do believe the postage envelope never did arrive. Those things do happen quite often. Have a great time with your family. You certainly are deserving of it. All of my best to you. Remember the good times............

The last read I had heard from you, n A F, was about nursing homes or assistant facilities for a family member. Always...please remember, I miss a lot and have to go waaay back to 'just catch up'.

********** HI, NAES. Good to hear from you. I am still taking care of parents. Dad has adjusted well to the nursing home. We take turns (brother, sister, and I) so he is seen at least every other day and sometimes several days in a row. The home says we are there to see him more than anyone they have in the home. They said that about 50% of all their patients don't get visitors. Isn't that sad? We try to pay attention to all of them we can.

We almost lost dad to pneumonia twice in the last 6 months and mom (who is still at home but doesn't drive) has been in the emergency room 4 times and hospitalized twice in the last 6 months. They both are doing ok now. I am pretty tired most of the time. I stay home and rest a lot.

I am grateful to still have both parents. They are 86 and 87 now and will have been married 68 yrs. if they make it till Spring. Thanks for asking, NAES. God has been faithful to us. It's so cute to see mom and dad still having devotions together every chance they get.

After all my dad has been through and with his dementia...which is still fairly mild....(they say the end of stage one and entering into stage two) you should hear how he can still pray. It stuns me how close he is to God...no matter what. He has been through 10 major operations in the last 20 or so years. I only pray, if I get to that point, I can be as strong as he is! I hope this finds you doing well.
