Maybe they do. Not all disabilities are front and center and many disabled people don't advertise their problems.

This same topic was deleted a few months ago by the mods. So don't be surprised if this one is poofed too.

that question just leads to, why can't qvc hire this kind of person or that kind of person. no one company can hire people of all ethnicities, backgrounds, or special circumstances in life, to be all inclusive.

Maybe no one with a disability has ever applied for a job. Dan H. is color blind but I don't know if that qualifies. I think this post was created to cause problems.

I am going to be 71 tomorrow, and have a disability no one knows about. That doesn't mean I want to see an old, disabled person selling stuff! I get excited watching the young, pretty girls. The prettier the better. If anyone can get me to buy, it's the young ones. I've been watching since the station started and watched the hosts that are still on today. They no longer inspire or even interest me to buy something. Often, I feel they have fallen behind, and haven't kept up with trends.

I agree with other posters here, how do you know that there aren't hosts with a disability that can't be seen AND how do you know if people with visible disabilities have even applied for on air jobs at QVC?

I'm willing to bet that QVC may have many employees with visible disabilities that work 'behind the scenes', as that is their preference, they don't want to be an on air host.

I understand there are disabilities that do not make someone disabled, hence this question.

However, answering by what I am familiar with, a disability means a monthly check and medical benefits.

Unfortunately, there are many disabilities that the government doesn't recognize as being eligible for disability payments or medical benefits.

That's why you see those attorney ads on TV, that say they will help you fight for your disability benefits, if you are turned down for them.

My dad fought for his disability for 5+ years, with a lawyers help.

My husband and brother were approved for disability within 30 days of applying.

There are plenty of disabled people who hold down regular jobs.

There are people in wheelchairs who work, and don't collect a disability check.

It's a disservice to just assume that just because one is disabled (in a wheelchair, etc) that all they do is stay home and collect a disability check.

Let's face it,the public does not want to see someone in a wheelchair or worse hosting on air, makes them feel bad and they don't want to feel bad when they shop. Like the one poster said,"the prettier the better".

There are many types of disabilities as has already been stated on here.

I know someone who is hearing impaired, I would think that is a disability, she has a full time job, wears hearing aids.

Some folks with disabilities can work, some folks can not.

I don't think we can just say none of these hosts has a disability, just because they are not in a wheelchair.

@Melly52 Many disabilities are not visable. Frankly, it isn't any of your business who is disabled. As large as QVC/HSN are, I'm positive many of the hosts have health problems you would be surprised about. Most of us with disabilities have learned to live with them and, statistically, work as hard (or harder) than other employees.

Please don't bring this up again. It is rude and unsensitive.

Although not a host, Francesco Clark appears on QVC representing his Clark's Botanicals line. He severed his spinal cord in a diving accident, and is a National Ambassador for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

@Melly52 I understand what you are saying (I think I do).

I've wondered why people with visual disabilities aren't on TV more often.

I wonder why people in wheelchairs or some other physical disability aren't on some game shows?

I figure it's all about insurance...maybe? But they should be represented. They could do The Price Is Right. They could do Jeopardy. They could do a lot of game shows.

I think there should also be more diversity on QVC an on TV.

This isn't the place to get into it now, but these are some of the things that I've spoken about here before.

Why don't you contact the powers that be on QVC and ask them? I'm curious what they'd tell you.

As another poster said maybe a person in a wheelchair has not applied for a host job at QVC. Same for game shows,etc. Has anyone in a wheelchair applied to go on Jeopardy or other shows?
