My New Years Resolution

I was going through my closets today to decide what to wear on Christmas. (Decided on a Susan Graver Liquid Knit Top). I have 3 packed closets of regular clothes and 2 closets of outerwear! Also, I have two dressers with packed drawers. Needless to say, I love clothes! Most of my clothes are classic in style, so I don't think too many are out dated. Most fit, but if I lost about 10 pounds probably they would all fit.

I work from home, so I don't need clothes for work.

For 2020 my New Year's resolution will be to not buy hardly any more clothes. I love clothes, so I will not say I will not buy any, but my goal is to limit it to only a very few!

Me three! I work at home & DH is due to retire Dec of 2020

this year he told me buy whatever I want, stock up whatever I want

My weakness is skin care and exercise stuff, home dec, oh yeah footwear .... LOL! let me stop confessing now......

next year I need to not buy Really hard for me since Shopping is my hobby and I have a black belt LOL

It's true that once you retire from an office environment, there's not much need for new clothes. Even those who volunteer at libraries or food pantries keep it casual. I don't even have a walk-in closet. It's about eight feet wide and my clothes for all seasons fit inside. Coats and outerwear are stored in a separate closet.

I made a similar resolution last year. I still bought clothes. However, what I bought was different. So, for me it has been baby steps. Except for pajamas, a robe, slippers, some socks, four tee shirts, and two lug bags, I bought no coats, no jackets, no jeans, no jewelry, no hats, no gloves, no fancy tops, and only one pair of shoes for me. I did buy items for others, so I may be getting my clothing fix indirectly. I have been able to buy two recliners and some bedding with the money I often spend on my personal wardrobe.

@KailaS WOW! That's impressive! I love to shop too, but am making much wiser choices these days. I can't think of anything I NEED, but still find myself buying some wants, not only for myself, but my grandbabies and adult children. They are always in NEED of something.😁

Good luck. I love clothes too and I have made that resolution many times over the years, it never lasted long. Sometimes it never even started. Now I accept that fashion and clothes and accessories make me happy. It's my hobby. My bff loves to travel so she does and that's where her money goes. My other bff is into crafts and knitting and that's where her money goes. It's shopping for me. I'll stop short of calling it a New Year's Resolution because I don't do those but two years ago I promised myself that I would "curate" my closet and my clothing collection. In with the new, out with the old. If I buy a pair of navy blue slacks, there's no reason for me to hold on the the pair I bought 4 years ago and that I haven't worn in 2 years. That type of thing. Last month I whittled down my boot collection, it was painful because boots cost so much but now I feel good about it because I will actually wear the boots I own. After the holidays, my next project will be to organize my dresser drawers. I have to many bras, panties, camisoles etc. So many that I don't wear half of them.

My resolution is to declutter generally and especially clothes! Still have work clothing that hasn't been worn in almost 10 years.

My resolution is somewhat different. I'm limiting/cutting back on clients in my businesses and would like to make time to do some volunteer work. I google opportunities in my area to see what may interest me.

So far, I can do/teach makeup to cancer patients to make them feel better about themselves and go to some of the nursing homes and read to the residents, help them write letters or just keep them company if their family can't visit often.

There's also the possibility of doing art projects with the children at our hospital. It'll bring a smile to their faces and help pass their time.

I love clothes too, but since I started working at home remotely, I don't need that many dress clothes. I just had surgery and after I am 100%, I am going through all my closets and getting rid of clothes and donating them to the local Christian second hand store. I work in nice casual wear, hoodies, leggings, etc. I don't need skirts and dress slacks, etc. anymore except for weddings and even for church, most people are very business casual or just outright jeans. I am also going to declutter other areas of my home and do more online selling. I made quite a bit of money selling things on Facebook local garage sale pages. A great way to declutter and make some cash. I also am going to get back to regular exercise after I recover from surgery. Merry Christmas and happy 2020 everyone!!!!

Read your title and comments then thought about it for a day. I found the 15 pounds I lost 2 years ago. For me it's all about not having time to work out. I just have to revv up metabolism, improve balance and flexibility and lung capacity. Been wearing my 'big' size pants. It's on my mind a lot. I just need to get back on my schedule and that's just that. Refrain from buying clothes for my current size. One pant size down is my ideal size. Keeping the house clutter free. We'll see how that goes with husband's upcoming retirement. We've had many conversations about that subject. We're on the same page. Good luck to all. You sound determined!

I retired at the end of March 2018 and was kind of glad I did it then because spring/summer clothing is not my favorite. I had about 6 months to get a grip before fall/winter clothing hit the stores. I did some shopping but not as much as I did when I was working.

I have to say in 2019 I didn't really shop that much for clothing or shoes. Biggest surprise to me was the shoes because I was a shoe fanatic.

I won't say that I wasn't tempted When I'd get the urge and I would load up my JCP online cart, I'd pause then get up and walk down the hall to look at the contents of my closet. That was usually enough of a reality check for me.

I think I just like getting packages It's sort of like Christmas all year round.
